| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Wow. Solid episode. Firstly, it appears the series won't be episodic in nature, which is fantastic. Secondly, character development for Jaime is always good. Thirdly, the entire premise of having a liquid that can change its viscosity and is its own lifeform was incredibly imaginative and exactly what scifi is supposed to be about. Also, whenever they (briefly) talk about scientific fields, they actually know what they're talking about, and that's stellar. Likewise, we got to see the crew as they set up a gameplan, and that was really cool, too. Instead of the usual format of, "I have a plan," and then we just get to see how it unfolds. The execution was really good this episode. I also liked the scene where they speculate the purpose of the heavy water power plants, and what the enemy's motive is for attacking Earth. I mean, they figured it out, which is also good, since it's a really straight forward motive, but they also added weight to the scene by showing how absurd the notion is in the first place. |
