Ciao.

So I finished Texhnolyze a while ago, and it really did hit the spot for me. So now when I've seen this gory, nihilistic and dark show, somehow I want to experience something similar.

Looking forward to read your recommendations!

Haven't watched it yet, but i'm looking forward to watching Ergo proxy and I feel that it might be kind of similar, but I might be wrong.

Serial Experiments Lain is by the same people, though it's more grounded and philosophical.

Ghost in the Shell is also another cyberpunk, that is a must see for any fan of the genre.

Ghost in the Shell(original movie)
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex(an alternate adaptation/TV series)
Ergo Proxy
Serial Experiments Lain
Akira
Neon Genesis Evangelion

(not as good as the ones above, but worth watching once you've seen the rest)
Armitage III
Gunnm
Parasite Dolls

Not all are as heavy in the psychological elements as others, but they should scratch your itch.

My favorite quotes from animes:

Those who seek miracles will never experience one. The hand of salvation only extends to people
who try to make miracles happen. - Ef a tale of melodies.
I destroy worlds. I create worlds. - Code geass
We are humans. - Shinsekai yori
100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10km run EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! - One punch man

Neon Genesis Evangelion

Is it particularly this specific series, cause I've noticed that there is many different evangelions, so this is the most dark-ish one then?

And Thank you all for thy recommendations, can't wait to check them out!

As much as I like it as well, it's not either psychological, but it borders on that, nor cyberpunk, it's a dystopia.

Also it's a book adaptation, making it a slow non-entertaining watch for the mystery. But my god is it worth it having this world reveal itself before you and how humanity would be if it had psychokinesis and the issues that come with it.

@OP
Evangelion, more or less watch them in release order, seriously.

Why don't we try the original 1995 version first? The others are pretty much remake/spin offs of the original in some senses

Ergo Proxy. That's some deep shit right there, with a whole lot of cool and badass mixed in.

So it seems that so many of you are recommending Ghost In The Shell, so I've drawn a conclusion that it is something I must see. Again Thanks guys!

I prefer the stand alone complex anime series, but the movies are good too.

The movies are different from the series, so you should check both.
