Cool, Mature, Not hot headed, Female Protagonist, Romance.

To see a romance with this type of female lead is pretty much what i'm looking for, but if you have other non-romance genres to recommend go ahead.

I'm looking for a female protagonist whose personality bears a likeness to:
L from Death note
Kikyo from Inuyasha
Lena from Saver
Youko from Juuni Kokuki

So basically, if you don't know the characters mentioned above, i'm looking for a female lead that isn't "silly". She would be cool. By not hot headed i mean, things tick her off but her character isn't exaggerated, yelling and nagging. Her actions are actually productive, as in, she is the protagonist so she does work towards getting results, and none of that is discredited.

i do not want to see:
a female lead that has no goals.
characters that do not grow
situation is not taken seriously. story is too shallow.
a school life (i'd prefer to avoid this)

Kaichou wa Maid Sama does not work for me at all.1) female lead has goals, is presented as capable, but is oddly saved without explanation 2) shallow story 3) school life primarily

I think you might want to check out some of the stuff on your PTW. Maybe try Claymore or Zetsuen no Tempest. You liked Shinsekai Yori right? Maybe try Nagi no Asukara.

For stuff not on your list...hmmm, maybe try Blue Gender (I know it's not the newest show out there) or Ano Natsu de Matteru (characters might be school aged but a lot of stuff happens outside of school I think). Also, maybe try Shinrei Tantei Yakumo. Oh, and how about Yakushiji Ryouko? Feel free to send me a comment if you want me to try to find more!

Try Superior :) i just started reading it. So far so good. 1) the female lead has a very clear goal
2) there is a lot of developement in her character as well as the others around her
3) the story is quite detailed and has a fairly good plot
4) Definitely not school life!

If anime characters were real, i'd probably be the happiest person alive! Or just dead.... ^_^

Ah. i really just want to see a suitable female lead. *edit* i know the leads are reputable so i keep it on my list but the show seems sort of flat.

*edit* for Nagi no Asukara, does the female lead match what i'm looking for? or was this just recommended because you know i like shin sekai yori? I'll give it a shot regardless.

I've read some of it and it doesn't seem serious enough for my taste.

Black Lagoon (Balalaika). She's not a protagonist but she's too badass to skip.

I feel like I've been recommending this a lot, but

Canaan. (Alphard is one of the coolest, most badass antagonists, although Canaan is pretty cool too)
