10fac build
This is a build that allows you to make vultures extremely quickly without damaging economy too much. You might be thinking to yourself "10 factory?! The fuck are you on?"
In fact, this build is more rush-safe than a lot of other builds and it will not put you behind economically if you kill enough units with the vults. At the very least you will force the Zerg to make sunkens.
The original purpose of this build was to kill zerglings and/or zealots with the early vultures in 2v2's while also gaining map control. Basically, this is awesome vs PZ teams.
It could work in 1v1 TvZ as well though. I haven't tested this much on 1v1's but it should be viable.
The build:
9/10 - Refinery
9/10 - Barracks
9/10 - SCV
10/10 - Supply Depot
@88 gas: Start pulling off SCV's from gas one by one.
@100% Barracks: Start Factory
Start marine and SCV production
13/18 - Supply Depot
@100% Factory: Start Vulture production and go slaughter some zerglings!
If you did this correctly, you should have ~200 minerals and 104 gas when the Barracks has finished, allowing you to make a Factory.
Having a ling-proof wall helps a lot. If it's not lingproof, you might need to defend with some scv's vs 9pool. Overpool should be no problem.
When to put scv's back to gas is up to you.
There are countless of ways to follow up after this build.
You can expo. You can be gay and go for a vulture drop with mines. You can surprise him with fast wraiths.
Or just add more Factories/Barracks and play standard mech/bio.
For 2v2 I suggest adding a Machine Shop and a 2nd Factory. Research mines and then speed. Keep pumping vultures until the enemy Zerg gets mutas.
If they are really defensive and builds a lot of sunkens/cannons, going for tanks might be good.
In 2v2, having a Zerg partner is probably the best for this build.
TZ vs PZ - if the Protoss techs up to goons, ignore him and attack the zerg. Mass zerglings and vultures. Eventually upgrade mines vs the Dragoons.
If the Zerg goes for 12hatch or a similar build, the Protoss will most likely 2gate. Just harass the Protoss with vultures. You might even win the game. |
