I don't like this new scoring system at all. Older was better and more reasonable. Score can actually define an anime, not just some clap emoji.
If you want the kids to engage in MAL, then add BOTH, means add BOTH NUMBER & EMOJI SIDE BY SIDE.

Where's the setting for people who despise emoji's and have to waste time mousing over each one to figure out what they are to be able to display it the standard way. This is a retrograde step that indirectly encourages innumeracy amongst the young.

Indeed, those emojis are just too annoying, it's probably a April 1st prank ( most people say so ), if not then maybe I won't use this site. Highlighting shows ratings in decimal, but it feels awkward using emoji as score

One of the things that attracted me the most about mal was putting scores, scoring with emojis makes him look less serious. At least let users configure it

I'm not too sure what to think of this. I find it a bit humorous but feel that using numbers for the scores would be more easily understood (and just better) than emojis.

it would've been a lot better if you changed the numbers to emojis where they say "shared anime" because that still has numbers which either you accidentally forgot to change or this is just a joke that really wasn't planned for a long time and I really don't think it's the first situation. Just my theory I don't mean to hate but the emojis are far more confusing and way too small to even notice what they do on my PC's screen. Oh and also you can highlight the emoji and it'll show the number that it represents if this was truly intended to be changed forever it 100% wouldn't be that way. I hope my decently long comment didn't bore anyone reading this (if anybody even read this) and I probably just wasted someone's time so I humbly apologize and wish you a good day (or night).

I was ready to call the DINA if this weren't April Fool's Day. And the worst part of all is that we don't celebrate April Fool's on 1/4, rather we celebrate Innocent's Day on 28/12.

"while MAL's not getting any younger, anime fans are" I hate to break it to you but as the anime market will grow it will have a far larger age range since as more people will take an interest seriously, more older people will end up getting into it as a result. Clearly the average age will there for be begger and what's more, this is a globally aging population as it is, or at least with the developoped world that is!
