I'm working a trance mash-up of Jennifer Lopez's Waiting For Tonight. Does anyone have any tips on using Sony Vegas 11? I just started using it an hour ago. I'm very slowly figuring things out, but there's a lot of stuff. Things are going better than expected, but it looks like it's going to take a long time. I have 2 minutes done so far. It's probably going to be between 7-15 minutes long. Sort of up in the air how much I'm going to add. I'm working with 5 different songs atm. They range from 4-11 minutes so there's a lot to listen to.

Here's a rough draft of the intro:
http://www.4shared.com/mp3/HCgj-2D4/waiting_for_tonight_-_intro.html?

There are a couple spots that need to be fixed, but I'll probably work on the later. Otherwise I'll never get around to finishing it. Perfectionist mentality. Also, I think the volume might be a little bit too low I'll make the DJ turn it up.

Anyone know a good source for drum and bass beats? I might just take some stuff from other songs, but I found some torrents with "breaks" in the title. Is that what I want?

Interesting article on which bit depth (16 vs 24 bit) and sample rate (44/48/96 kHz) to use for projects:
http://tweakheadz.com/16-bit-vs-24-bit-audio/
I'll save people the trouble of reading it. Use 24 bit and 44.1 kHz (aka 44,100 hz)

Since no one responded to the first few songs I posted I decided to delete those posts and then put all the songs in one post. I don't expect anyone to listen to all of them, but each song is a different genre so there should be at least one that will appeal to most people. I'm going to list the genres of each song so people can decide which ones they want to listen to. Several of the songs are unfinished. If someone expresses interest in one of those I'll be more likely to finish it. All of the songs can be listened to without downloading them, but there's an option to download them if you wish.

1. Genres - Trance, Electronic
This is a trance mashup of Jennifer Lopez's song Waiting For Tonight. I used 3 different versions of waiting for tonight (including 2 remixes by Hex Hector) and then some Goa style trance songs also. I still have a lot of work to do on this one, but I'm very happy with how it's turned out so far.
http://www.4shared.com/mp3/A-Du62g3/192Wating_for_tonight_trance.html?

2. Genres - Classical, Symphonic Metal, Power Metal
This one is a song by Rhapsody, a symphonic/power metal group. I mixed in some Baroque classical music and a song from a Bleach OST (also classical). Since Rhapsody is symphonic metal there's already classical elements to begin with.
http://www.4shared.com/mp3/IO_uKdNb/192rhapsody_bt_dargor_baroque.html?

3. Genres - Rock, Piano, Electronic
This includes some TV theme music including Somebody Help Me by Full Blown Rose which I guess would be rock. There's a lot of piano and some electro as well.
http://www.4shared.com/mp3/Scno1w11/192tv_theme_full_blown_rose.html?

4. Genres - Rock, Rap
This Red Fraction mashup I used songs from a Tony Hawk game which are rap and rock. The rock song is You by Bad Religion.
http://www.4shared.com/mp3/GuOXdoEP/192red_fraction_tony_hawk.html?

5. Genres - Pop, Rock, Jazz, 70/80s TV show theme songs
This one is the most incomplete of all of them, but since it's a different genre than any of the other ones I figured I'd post it. I mixed Eureka 7's OP (Flow) with the Full Intentions remix of Jennifer Lopez's song Love Don't Cost a Thing. Despite being labeled a remix, it's actually not electronic. It sounds sort of like some of the 70/80s TV show theme songs or a type of Jazz

Update: Actually, I found a better loop site than free-loops which I posted below: http://www.looperman.com/
I'm not sure if they have a better collection (but it seems like they might). The main reason it's better is their search feature works a lot better than free-loops. Also, all the loops have actual words in their name rather than a series of random letters and numbers so it's easier to remember which ones are what.

I found the motherload of loops it seems: http://free-loops.com/
They have everything you can imagine from rock loops to techno loops and even crunk loops. They also have articles and software you can download. The volume levels for the loops are not the same so be prepared to lower your speaker volume when listening to the preview.

I also found a YouTube channel with rock and metal drum loops: http://www.youtube.com/user/MashtheSplat/videos
To download the mp3s you can use this website: http://www.youtube-mp3.org/

There's also some torrents if you do a search for loops and samples. I found one with this in the description: "loadsa stuff to mashup". He's speaking my language :)

So I did some more a couple weeks ago. I wasn't going to post them until they were 100% finished, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. I can post what I have if anyone's interested, but if not I'm not going to take the time to upload them if no one is going to listen to them. There's a lot of different genres like last time although I won't go so far to say there's something for everyone. I was also thinking about seeing if my harmonica is still working and maybe recording something with that.
Update: Just found my harmonica. I also found my old clarinet and a recorder. I don't know how to play the recorder and I don't remember how to play the clarinet so I guess it's just harmonica time for now.

I guess I'll just post one song for now since no one else said anything. This is a crunk remix to Akon's Smack That (ft Eminem). I started with a crunked up intro then I got to the rest of the song and squirted some crunk juice up in there. Like most (if not all) of the songs I posted, this one is unfinished, but it's mostly done:
http://www.4shared.com/mp3/kN6Bx4dm/Smack_That__Crunk_Remix_.html?
Once again, you can listen the song without downloading it, but there's also an option to download it if you like it.

Sup bitches. I'm back. And I'm bringing sexy back. Sexy Brute that is. I just finished a mashup of Sexy Bitch Sexy Chick by David Guetta ft. Akon and a trance song called Brute by Armin Van Buurin and Ferry Corsten (I keep wanting to call him Corey Ferston for some reason).
http://www.4shared.com/mp3/tIATFiHo/Sexy_Brute.html?
Please let me if you listen to any of these even if you hated it. I'd like to know this thread is more than my personal blog. And if anyone else wants to post something please do so. I know 2 recent members who said they play guitar...NO EXCUSES!!!
