The "Backstory" Problem

@Fenronin I watched enough of that show to know you vastly overstate his importance. And he got a bad sob backstory before even Emilia...

@FrozenWitch of course I didn't, I should have dropped season 1 like halfway through already, it's so boring...
The pacing of season 1 is glacial already, season 2 somehow becomes even slower, and then they randomly throw in Otto's backstory that nobody cared about, because they need to justify that bug talking superpower deus ex machina somehow...

@JaniSIr Otto mentioned his ability to communicate with creatures in season 1 and used it multiple times in season 2 before his backstory.

Honestly I don't see what's wrong with Otto's backstory. It was short, it fleshed out his character, it explains his ability and it even introduced an important location that will be relevant later.

@FrozenWitch It was boring and ruined the already atrocious pacing of the show even further.

@FrozenWitch Because of the time loop format the plot of the show almost never progresses, most of the events get erased...
And then they throw in random sob story flashbacks for characters that barely even matter.
It's so slow and boring... And as I've been told the light novel is actually way worse!
