How Much Does a Show's Rating Mean to You When You Plan to Watch it?

I'm personally more intrigued about what people are saying about a show than the rating itself.

For instance, Vatican Miracle Examiner currently has a 6.40 rating. But what convinced me to watch the show was the top "Not Recommended" review, which basically said it was The Da Vinci Code + Scooby Doo + Tommy Wiseau's The Room 🤣

Means nothing. Trying to watch the top 100 anime by popularity on this site I hadn't seen to broaden my horizons.

tbh i'v found that i enjoy shows between 5.99 and 7.99, more than i enjoy shows rated over 8 lol. if its over 8, i find myself going in with higher expectations...and get easily disappointed if it doesnt reach the standards i had in my mind bc of the high score. and if its lower than 5.99...i expect it to suck...and more often than not, it does lol. then for 5.99-7.99, i dont have any expectations really...i mean 5.99-7.99 counts as "average" so i dont have any reason to expect it to be good or bad. but no matter the score, if the story sounds interesting...i'll watch it

in general it doesn't affect whether or not I will put the anime on my PTW list but I do loosely base my expectations of a show on the rating

I don't care whatsoever for the ratings of anime shows TBH.

It definitely matters a lot when I was new. Nowadays not so much.

It's generally a good indicator of what to watch because that means the majority rated it highly.

as for me, absolutely means none.

A loose guide at best, but outside of particularly low or high ratings that really stand out, I don't take anything too seriously when looking at a particular title. Namely because a lot of it is down to subtly contrasting opinions when the scores are heavily mixed.

I don't ever assume anything based on score, and a low score has never stopped me from giving a show a chance.

above 6 I will watch it if it has interesting synopsis
below 6 I will probably not watch it even if it sounds somewhat interesting
above 8 I might watch it even if topic is not interesting to me (like I would normally never watch Bocchi the rock after reading just synopsis)

The only thing that score does for me is that if some anime seems uninteresting to me but I somehow find out that it is rated highly, then I might still give it a chance.
