In my collection I have some really beautifully written ones in seinen/josei/shounen/shoujo categories, both hetero and non-hetero, and everything in between and it's great.

Most aren't though, regardless of genre. Like most works

haven't watched much Shonen/Seinen romance but Komi Can't Communicate, Ayla hides her feelings in Russian, and My Tiny Senpai seemed like a good watch to me.

Romance in general is not my cup of tea, but romance for men is sometimes good, while romance for women is always fairly boring.
Though, when thinking about good romance anime only Toradora and School Rumble come to mind and the latter is more of a comedy.

I also enjoyed Shuffle, but it's a harem. Though, the guy at least picks a girl at the end and there's still episodes after he picked, too.
