First episode was captivating and brilliant but after that it slowly fell off, so in my opinion no it doesn’t.

For it to have been better for me I needed more focus on Aqua, his story is interesting, the want for revenge should’ve been the main plot but it seemed to favour Ruby and her quest to be an idol, which was enjoyable but not an AOTY story, if it stayed as dark as the first episode with Aquas story the anime would be a much higher rating for me.

That’s me though, each to their own.

Incredibly, massively, criminally, illegally and disgustingly overrated. Enjoy whatever you want and keep it at that but don’t mix in awards. It does not deserve to be aoty when shows like Vinland saga, heavenly delusion and Pluto came out in the same year. It would be disrespectful and unfair.

It deserves the nomination, but there should be no competition if the awards were fair. Pluto is just leagues above every other anime this year, and Vinland is also aheado of OnK

I would put it as a nominee, but I don't think it should win. Probably my favorite of the year but don't think it should be for the anime community as a whole.

I think it probably does deserve it more than the others. The direction is top notch. The plot is pretty unique. It’s easy to get invested in the characters. Etc. etc.
You do need to put aside moral quandaries tho.

It’s biggest competitors are probably farmland and jjk2

I personally disliked the show, and considering Vindland Saga, JJK, Mashle, Trigun and a lot of other shows that came out this year, this is toward the bottom of my list
