It looks ok so far, though they did re-arrange an event (they took the first part of chapter 5 and used it as a transition between chapters 3 and 4).

But overall it was ok thus far, I'm mostly just trying to figure out how far it's going to go. Everyone expect it to end at the end of DMT arc, which is a pretty good guess, but One Punch Man isn't an action battle shounen, it's a seinen satirical slice of life that loves to mock battle shounens, so there's little point to ending on an action episode, where as continuing through King and Blizzard and then introducing the hero hunter arc as the sequel hook would actually fit better with One Punch Man's themes.

Not to mention...i went back and counted, and including all the side-story chapters, stopping at the DMT arc will only fill 9 episodes at most, where as going all the way to the end of the Blizzard arc would perfectly fit into 12 episodes, with the hero-hunter arc introduction used as the sequel hook.

And their current rate of 4.2 chapters per episode is actually the PERFECT adaption rate, with each episode either ending on a Punch-line moment or at the end of an arc or side-story chapter (if episode 2 ends on Armored Gorilla's "I'm so done with this shit" face, just go ahead and put money down on DMT ending in episode 9 and episode 12 being the end of Blizzard's arc and the introduction of the hero hunter as the sequel hook).

------------

My biggest worry, especially due to the confirmation of 12 episodes is whether or not they'll pull a Claymore. Though hopefully since ONE has full creative control that won't happen.

------------
Slightly tweak/re-arrange the early chapters to help them flow better when they were slightly episodic before the real plot happened. (check)

Have damn nice adaptation all the way through till just the last couple episodes. (so far, so check)

and then run completely off-tangent with an Anime Original ending that not only doesn't resolve anything any better then just using the manga version of events would have, and makes a 2nd season impossible due to the degree of which it derails the story. (pending)

Watched the interview of the director of this series, they said that the goal of the adaptation is to stay true to the manga as much as possible (or even better), they say. So 100% sure that it will.
"I'm just your typical human being who commit sins just like you. But the difference is that I never lied and tell anyone that what I did was right. I regret and ask for forgiveness from Him."

Why is my signature not anime-related? It's because who gives a fuck? Anyway I'd like to advertise to you this:

SHINGEKI NO KYOJIN IS FOLLOWING A SIMPLE FLOW OF THE STORYLINE. AND IT GETS REPETETIVE IF YOU VIEW IT ON ITS BIGGER PICTURE. WITH A LITTLE PLOT TWIST AND NEW IDEAS, YOU FORGOT THAT IT HAD ALREADY HAPPENED BEFORE.

Also, Tokyo Ghoul is AWESOME. Especially :re.

Does a good adaptation means a carbon copy of the manga?

If yes, then trolololololololololololololololololololol

If I were you, I would delete manga from your head and enjoy this anime series as as an anime, not as a manga... might give you interesting new perspectives and ideas, you know, keep it open minded.

I really think manga was great and all, but let manga stay manga and anime stay anime. Don't bash anime for not being manga.

First of all I don't recall anyone bashing anything here xD
Second, that your opinion. I'm watching this anime to see my favorite manga animated, not to see an alternative version of the story and I think that's still enjoying the anime as an anime, so I want this as faithful of the source material as possible
As I said, in this case, yes, a good adaptation means a carbon copy of the manga plus a few scenes to turn it more substancial. That's what the 1st episode did, and it was great
If you have a different opinion, then all nice. Just enjoy the series

This is not really a matter of opinion to be honest, because we are using 2 different mediums here. No matter how you are going to look at it, some things are not going to come out to make that 'carbon copy' you long for because anime is way harder to create than manga.

Imagine if they made a movie of One Punch Man? Lol you would be disappointed even more, and I'm saying disappointed because I'm sure you're going to be disappointed with the anime if your looking for that 'carbon copy'.

All I'm saying is that don't get your expectations very high.

A manga is a manga that requires it's own skills and own ways to produce it
Anime is anime...
Movie is movie...

Different mediums require different techniques which means different perceptions of the idea.

That's not the point. I'm not saying that I want something 100% like the manga. That's not even possible.
What I want is the anime to keep going like this first episode. If you read at least the first 4 chapters of the manga, I think I don't really need to explain what I'm saying here
