Maybe Sensei's artworks parallels whoever is getting the focus in the manga... hence more Arata lately :) So I guess we're not even getting raws for this chapter? There's no one else except iathea-san to provide raws? Yeah, Arata is the ideal person to teach them, not shady Taichi, haha. But the reason for not showing Arata could be the same as to why he wasn't invited to the Taichi cup. Also, she would have missed the chance to mention Sumire's love! hehe... But these are just guesses... Detectives-sama!! Haha! Yeah, I realized that some panels don't match how I remembered them, so I checked and was right! Really good editing! :) About the BG, I thought maybe you guys will have some explanation or expression attached to it. Like the starry BG or desperate, unhappy BG... And those two scenes are pretty unrelated and different moods, so why do they share the same BG? That piqued my interest... hopefully Taichi-kun can provide some insight... About Tumblr, I don't really like blocking people, so I liked the muting option on Twitter. But the add-on you shared does the job. I added user names and it hides all their content with the warning. That's good enough. About your latest post on poem 6... I remember noticing this while watching. In episode 2 of S3, Nishida reads a poem written by Chihaya, part of the summer break assignment she was doing sitting in the hospital. And the poem goes, "The magpie brought that voice to me. It will be my good luck charm for karuta." I think this is referring to her phonecall to Arata last X' mas, where she said cell phones are like the magpie, connecting her to Arata and that she was glad to hear his voice. But it could also be the phone call from the hospital, which she had just made. So this makes a third poem she wrote about Arata! Somebody tell Kana-chan! :P |

Recently finished the rewatch of all seasons back to back. Enjoyed S3 much more on rewatch! Even more than 1 & 2! Some random things I noted down while watching. Mainly from S3, but a few from 1 & 2 as well. - "I'd rather have a hard worker than a karuta genius as my teammate," said Taichi. This clearly feels sly on Arata. Add this to his "Teki" comment and "Chihaya wants the team with you, but I don't"... basically feels like he was being dishonest to Chihaya about making a strong karuta club and waiting for Arata to come back... of course, it's not that black and white, but still mostly dark gray, leaning towards black... haha -------------------------- - Chihaya hurt her finger while trying to take wa-ta-no-ha-ra-ya. Which she lost. - Arata noticed her injured finger during her match vs Yuube-san, but we don't really see him showing any actual concern. Shouldn't he ask her what happened or why are you risking it by using it against Shinobu-chan? But, when he noticed Shinobu's fever, he touched her forehead and consoled her........ - When he destroyed Shouji and won by 27 cards, even the reader was shocked, along with many others, but oddly no reaction from Chihaya was shown. Even though at the start of the match, she was really happy that Arata is here on the same tatami with her, and was looking fondly at him when they sat down. And LOL at Shinobu there. Pissed that Arata upstaged her!! So, Shinobu noticed, but Chihaya didn't........ -------------------------- - Miss the Harada-san's original VA. New one is too loud and doesn't have the finesse of the original one... sad that we lost him... - Will we ever see Arata's reaction when Chihaya just drops on the ground and falls asleep after the match? Would be really amusing moment! He must have already witnessed it at least a couple of times, like after her match against Taichi and after their own painful rematch. - Arata getting recovered from his black cards was pretty quick but visually beautiful and memorable moment. But I can't recall Taichi's or Chihaya's particular moments of recovery from their black cards in the manga... - Baka Chihaya missed one heck of entry by Arata. It was her advice that sparked it. And anime kinda ruined the impact. - Chihaya thinking "I have so many things I want to ask him" when she was with Suo in the park. The same she had thought about Arata before. So she thinking the same with Suo, just felt... wrong. Even though she probably only wants to ask karuta related things to him... same could be said about Arata... - Young Wataya-sensei is probably the best looking guy in the series. - Confession scene: Arata's hand was hiding the right side of his face, so Chihaya should have tilted towards her right to be able to see, but she tilts left, which would show her more of his right hand than his pretty face. Haha - OST track "Himeta Omoi" seems to be exclusively used for Ara-Chiha moments. And it means "Hidden feelings"... - Transition after "Suki ya, Chihaya" feels really abrupt. Sloppy job, Madhouse. - When Suo asked "What are you to that girl?" why did Taichi remember Harada-sensei's "Can one spend their entire youth without getting better? Hold that thought for now." before he lied to Suo about being Chihaya's boyfriend? What the heck is this supposed to imply? - Didn't like Taichi inviting himself when Suo asked Chihaya for a match... - Didn't like Chihaya tattling about Suo's eyes... - Dislike shady Taichi. Lying to Chihaya, hiding things from her... - Ara-Chiha being super-cute on phone! Especially Chihaya before dialing and after almost dropping it! And whatever happened to those strange, warm feelings since then? - Watarai-san is absolutely hilarious in anime! - Shinobu's mother is really something. Her thoughtless comment about Grandma along with Chihaya's school trip comment contributed to Shinobu's first-ever loss. - Love Haruka-san's almost all the scenes. Such a great addition. - Dislike how Kana treats Chihaya when it comes to Taichi. - No thoughts about Arata from Chihaya on V-day feels pretty odd considering her reaction to his confession... Looks like she has pretty much forgotten about it already, lol - "Waratte... waratte hoshiyo..." The way Asami-san's voice breaks here... so heartbreaking... such amazing voice acting... - LOL at Nishida's, "Mashima's been down lately, but I'm having trouble sympathizing" when Taichi's getting showered with V-day chocos. - Dumbo Chihaya brought an empty box all the way to school?! Didn't even realize the lighter weight? - I wonder how would Arata feel if he ever found out that he wasn't invited to the Taichi's big b'day bash AKA Taichi cup and it was Chihaya who did all the inviting... - I read people commenting that it was nice to see Chihaya caring for Taichi for once, usually he's the one doing all the caring. Huh? When have we ever seen Taichi aching for Chihaya like this and doing something just to see her smile? He always has ulterior motives... - After Taichi's rejection, it feels really odd that the teammates all act as if nothing's wrong! Taichi seems to be fake-smiling and pretending but Chihaya looks visibly down! Kinda feels out of character that nobody says anything. Usually sensible Miyauchi-sensei also dropping a bomb like that just before they are going live!! And Chihaya here looks kinda okay! Before it hits her... How many days is this after rejection? - Really hurts to see Chi-chan so broken... and again, none of her teammates feel bothered that she's so down? And they spend hours together! Or none of them feel it's their business? Or feeling guilty that their meddling caused this? Especially Kana and Hanano! What about at home? Nobody asked her or did anything? We're never shown. So she only has Lit-Sensei to talk to? And she never once thought of Arata... - How convenient that Taichi lands where Suo is the teacher... - Absolutely loved Arata and his adorable team and their visit to Fujisaki High. - I didn't notice this before but Arata's message for Chihaya and Taichi was already prepared, so he was already gonna send it before he found out the bad news. Damn, Chihaya would have been so happy if it wasn't for all the Taichi-drama... - In the manga, after receiving Arata's msg, Chihaya thought of Taichi only "He'll come back for sure and I will wait for him". But Anime changed it to "we" and it was in Arata's voice... |

Avish kun, such wonderful comments (especially the 2nd) .. I want to comment on every detail but for now I feel a bit down so i'll leave it for later (but really thank you, you put so many smiles on my face & when it's not a smile, I still felt a surge of energy go through me and I wanted to object or add something ...I hope dear my dear fellow Arata fan can feel the ultimate liveliness...) Still this is spot on thank you very much, In episode 2 of S3, Nishida reads a poem written by Chihaya, part of the summer break assignment she was doing sitting in the hospital................ so i'll go add it to the post (re-post it actually, Taichi kun doesn't like the "Modified x hours ago" message at the end of posts XD ...hih sorry Taichi kun) By the way, sensei tweeted 2 tweets saying that now she is working on chap232, she said she wrote the plot & prepared all the needed cards for that chapter (this is v.interesting bc every poem will be meaningful then as it's chosen carefully ...) |

@iNameless_ thank you for your wording of compassion friend *hugs*: It's so painful losing someone so precious in our lives, three weeks ago my mom passed away and it's the most painful experience of someone's passing I ever felt, (I really miss my mom so much T_T) everyday I grief for my mom, these past three weeks felt like time had stop for me, full of sadness : it's hard but with everyone support from my family and friends I'll continue to stay strong and positive, something that will help me move forward: my mom will forever live in my heart. ;_; I'm glad to be back, Minna: happy to see everyone being active and bring this place in a positive light: seeing those lovely Chihaya x Arata pictures together really brings back a piece of happiness to my heart, slowly but it's there. Reading everyone's post brought laughs I lacked for some time, this place is like magic, brings back the lightness to one's heart again ( all the things we all cherish and enjoy brings back goodness in one's day, where Arata fans all gathered together. |

Come here my brave soul! *another hug*!!! None brings cheerfulness to this fandom more than you so Arata can only wait for you to come back to us as bright as you always were to make his world warm again and I believe, he too, can make your world just as warm! We are waiting for another chapter about Arata, it might be full of suffering and falling down but Arata was for me an example of what an enduring patient dedicated human being can be ... So we will watch him struggle THEN rise & shine like forever!!! these were 2 long months, not having a new chapter made us all go back to check old things hihi.. I still want to comment on every point brought up by @Avish kun but I still can't for now, so i'm jut gonna leave this thing I noted a while ago |

I think I'll really do my best NOT to be obsessed with another manga ever again ^^". because you are right.. with Chihayafuru, it's like we can't stop re-reading, there is always something calling you back to check again, to remember, to correct, to wonder about..and so many to feel "stronger" about! - "I'd rather have a hard worker than a karuta genius as my teammate," said Taichi. This clearly feels sly on Arata. Add this to his "Teki" comment and "Chihaya wants the team with you, but I don't"... basically feels like he was being dishonest to Chihaya about making a strong karuta club and waiting for Arata to come back... of course, it's not that black and white, but still mostly dark gray, leaning towards black... haha I already said it! I don't take the "heroic" statements Taichi seems to make seriously because his "dark" statements/actions feel more honest & real, more like his true self... And I will never understand how anyone can see some sort of friendship from his side to Arata... -------------------------- - Chihaya hurt her finger while trying to take wa-ta-no-ha-ra-ya. Which she lost. Yep, noted the moment in my file ... speaking of which, poem 11 was used meaningfully here even if it's not something special but this card was a reference to Arata watching, being there etc but instead, Suetsugu sensei included this poem with volume 21 (ch109-113) where I can't really locate this card at all? - Arata noticed her injured finger during her match vs Yuube-san, but we don't really see him showing any actual concern. Shouldn't he ask her what happened or why are you risking it by using it against Shinobu-chan? But, when he noticed Shinobu's fever, he touched her forehead and consoled her........ Lol you sound like a jealous Chihaya xD but you are right... I think it's again about the "romance" Suetsugu didn't want to write... I think, if she allowed the concern to be shown it should take some special form because Arata & Chihaya arent' only friends to act like some nor something else to act like something else haha.. so she cut all those scenes altogether (there are more than one scene like that right? when they try to tell/show more to the other but they are denied the way to it...) - When he destroyed Shouji and won by 27 cards, even the reader was shocked, along with many others, but oddly no reaction from Chihaya was shown. Even though at the start of the match, she was really happy that Arata is here on the same tatami with her, and was looking fondly at him when they sat down. And LOL at Shinobu there. Pissed that Arata upstaged her!! So, Shinobu noticed, but Chihaya didn't........ Lol yep, Shinobu's reactions mostly around Arata are precious.. I think Chihaya expects Arata's strength, the was rather shocked when he lost to Tsuboguchi before ch103 when Taichi said: "That Arata lost?!" (which didn't really make much sense to me because Arata actually lost before.. but it's again: I don't take Taichi's words so seriously :D) -------------------------- - Miss the Harada-san's original VA. New one is too loud and doesn't have the finesse of the original one... sad that we lost him... Wow, as for me, I forgot we got a new seiyuu altogether!! now that I think about it, "re-watching" isn't really a part of what I'm doing while being obsessed! I don't remember the last time I re-watched anything from the previous seasons (or even the 3rd?), guess i'm really a manga reader haha... but yeah .. I tried to check and strangely I was rather curious whether Sudo's seiyuu is the same with Levi ackerman's? (I checked & it wasn't ==I suck at recognizing sounds lol) - Will we ever see Arata's reaction when Chihaya just drops on the ground and falls asleep after the match? Would be really amusing moment! He must have already witnessed it at least a couple of times, like after her match against Taichi and after their own painful rematch. I have a feeling his reaction will be like when Sumire chan talked to him and he was really interested in her, he was like "eeeeeeh, so girls like these also play karuta?" Maybe if he sees Chihaya falls asleep he will also be like: "eeeeeh, so Chihaya does this?" He is not fun, he doesn't give us enough funny reactions lol - Arata getting recovered from his black cards was pretty quick but visually beautiful and memorable moment. But I can't recall Taichi's or Chihaya's particular moments of recovery from their black cards in the manga... For Taichi, did Taichi ever recover from anything at all???? Chihaya recovered gradually, I loved the way Suetsugu wrote it... when Chihaya was studying but she felt "Not enough" and she met Fugasaku sensei again (I love that teacher), she then realized how she needed karuta (he already told her that the 100 poems kept her going), Chihaya then started to count the sounds she needs to take a card ... 6 sounds, 5 sounds...until it was one sound and "SE" was shown, ... she only needed to keep playing & take cards at one syllable, and then reunion will come ... it was one of the prettiest panels of determined Chihaya! - Baka Chihaya missed one heck of entry by Arata. It was her advice that sparked it. And anime kinda ruined the impact. Lol yeah, I wonder if she saw that, would she rather sense his absence? I mean, that was when Arata used/had his grandpa's aura the clearest.. I wonder if it wasn't deliberate to prevent her from seeing it until recently? (she could witness it and I understand she even imagined Hajime sensei in him before the start of the Meijin/Queen tournament and was it not twice?) - Chihaya thinking "I have so many things I want to ask him" when she was with Suo in the park. The same she had thought about Arata before. So she thinking the same with Suo, just felt... wrong. Even though she probably only wants to ask karuta related things to him... same could be said about Arata... Hmmm.... I think you made the link BECAUSE the memory of her saying that about Arata is so vivid in your mind, otherwise it's just a normal sentence she can say about anyone. Also, Chihaya almost explained a bit more about what she wants to at least know about Arata (when she was having the girl-talk at Fujisaki) ..she wanted to know how Arata "felt" ... this is telling how she wants to know more than karuta-related things...(and she remembered Shinobu chan there too but she didn't wonder how she felt because that's about Arata and not about any karuta player or something)... I can't defend that well but it's written to be only felt I guess, and personally, I feel such striking difference. - Young Wataya-sensei is probably the best looking guy in the series. Counting me in the fan club please xd - Confession scene: Arata's hand was hiding the right side of his face, so Chihaya should have tilted towards her right to be able to see, but she tilts left, which would show her more of his right hand than his pretty face. Haha hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I can't!!! - OST track "Himeta Omoi" seems to be exclusively used for Ara-Chiha moments. And it means "Hidden feelings"... Oh? i'm illiterate when it comes to anime related everything I guess then.. but this sounds sweet though the feelings aren't really hidden.. - Transition after "Suki ya, Chihaya" feels really abrupt. Sloppy job, Madhouse. Not only this, don't know if you compared anime with manga scene but I already made a post about it on FB where I complained enough.. Chihaya's reaction in the manga is way better, she was happier, her joy was like an explosion when Arata invited her to play with him... if you didn't notice please go check it!!!! - When Suo asked "What are you to that girl?" why did Taichi remember Harada-sensei's "Can one spend their entire youth without getting better? Hold that thought for now." before he lied to Suo about being Chihaya's boyfriend? What the heck is this supposed to imply? LOL Also made another post on FB where I asked because I really don't get it!!!! I even considered asking Taichi fans on discord... I decided against it though, I was afraid of reading some cringe-worthy things.. I really don't get it, I don't know if it was a translation mistake or something? because my only explanation was said to be "hating Taichi" He maybe considers that lie as a way to say that he will still hold Chihaya as his because he will work for her affection and he will get it with hard work, so he shouldn't give her up now ..which is so ..eww - Didn't like Taichi inviting himself when Suo asked Chihaya for a match... Same! don't wanna say it, but he really doesn't see Chihaya as her own person! he sees her as an extension of himself! - Didn't like Chihaya tattling about Suo's eyes... hmmm yeah.. that was sad but I'm glad she regretted it later.. - Dislike shady Taichi. Lying to Chihaya, hiding things from her... You dislike Taichi then XD ..because who is Taichi if not all what you mentioned? And the worst is that Chihaya is blamed for all that..Kana who is supposed to be her friend encouraged her self-beating because of it and that changed the way I see Kana completely! - Ara-Chiha being super-cute on phone! Especially Chihaya before dialing and after almost dropping it! And whatever happened to those strange, warm feelings since then? This scene was also included in the comicbook, and again Suetsugu reminded us that for Chihaya, love and karuta seem to reside in the same part of the mind. The Japanese friend who translated this said that it's very important, so maybe, that part of the brain is busy for now xd - Watarai-san is absolutely hilarious in anime! Same in the manga, and I second Momo-chan, I want to see her in a match vs Hajime sensei XD - Shinobu's mother is really something. Her thoughtless comment about Grandma along with Chihaya's school trip comment contributed to Shinobu's first-ever loss. and this loss seems to be forgotten in the current events of the manga, because everyone in chapter 231 were like: "What? the strongest queen lost? Shinobu lost?!!!!" as if it's the 1st time it happens .. - Love Haruka-san's almost all the scenes. Such a great addition. - Dislike how Kana treats Chihaya when it comes to Taichi. Oh, so the comment came here. Glad to find someone sharing my frustration. I call Kana Taichi's fangirl. she is more of his friend than Chihaya's (but I absolutely don't deny her good intentions & feelings & care for her though..it's just ...she could be a better friend, especially someone as samrt and somehow wise as her... I think I hate Taichi because whether it's fans or characters in Chihayafuru, he brings some ugly things out of people.. - No thoughts about Arata from Chihaya on V-day feels pretty odd considering her reaction to his confession... Looks like she has pretty much forgotten about it already, lol Why do I rather think that V-day isn't about romance for Chihaya? I think she really had zero thoughts about romance the whole day.. - "Waratte... waratte hoshiyo..." The way Asami-san's voice breaks here... so heartbreaking... such amazing voice acting... Agreed! - LOL at Nishida's, "Mashima's been down lately, but I'm having trouble sympathizing" when Taichi's getting showered with V-day chocos. I love Nishida, because even though he loves Taichi, he is also himself not a Taichi fanboy, he speaks his true feelings and treats Taichi like a normal person instead of how Kana treats him, like a piece of glass that everyone should be careful with (borrowing lot of your expressions @MashimaTaichi_ , can't help it, because that's the truth I see) - Dumbo Chihaya brought an empty box all the way to school?! Didn't even realize the lighter weight? Lol, the father is even funnier - I wonder how would Arata feel if he ever found out that he wasn't invited to the Taichi's big b'day bash AKA Taichi cup and it was Chihaya who did all the inviting... Why do I thin he will again be like: "Eeeeeh? that's amazing... that must have been so much fun...teams .. so much ...f......................." Ofc, this is Arata, he wouldn't let us know.but my baby! I hope his time will come later and get to enjoy his time with the ones he loves to his heart's content!!!!! - I read people commenting that it was nice to see Chihaya caring for Taichi for once, usually he's the one doing all the caring. Huh? When have we ever seen Taichi aching for Chihaya like this and doing something just to see her smile? He always has ulterior motives... Please don't make me start talking about what some fans think of Taichi & Chihaya... I always called the relationship between these two "abusive" because Chihaya was abused for it be it by Taichi or some of his fans! it's just crazy!! Oh and they call him "selfless" I'm really very happy because Suetsugu sensei herself said the opposite ..Poor Chihaya :( - After Taichi's rejection, it feels really odd that the teammates all act as if nothing's wrong! How many days is this after rejection? yeah, the whole manga felt unfamiliar at that stage... you know, i feel so frustrated with Taichi's character when I remember that because he was cared for even for the smallest of his worries, he got people agonize over his lamest "problems", he was such a drama queen and everyone tried to make it bigger and bigger... while anyone who is not him, it doesn't matter at all what they are going through... hmmmm but isn't it better than writing them as other drama queens? - Really hurts to see Chi-chan so broken... and again, none of her teammates feel bothered that she's so down? And they spend hours together! Or none of them feel it's their business? Or feeling guilty that their meddling caused this? Especially Kana and Hanano! What about at home? Nobody asked her or did anything? We're never shown. So she only has Lit-Sensei to talk to? And she never once thought of Arata... saying it like this makes me feel sadder for her even now.. and yeah, we are never told that she thought of him ..we rather don't know if she did or not... I think, even if she remembered him, it would only be more painful right? because she rejected Taichi while thinking about his confession, while Taichi was talking about his pain, her mind went to Arata and the nice offer he made ...wouldn't it make her feel even guiltier? wouldn't she try to avoid thinking about it? and she was trying to avoid thinking altogether right? she was trying to rather fill herself with something else.. studying and all ... so yeah.. - How convenient that Taichi lands where Suo is the teacher... this is a manga hhhhhhhhhh - Absolutely loved Arata and his adorable team and their visit to Fujisaki High. YES YESS YESSS!!! it gave me an opportunity to think " what if Arata was there?" everything Chihaya & Taichi went through, this episode gave me images about how Arata would have been and what he would have done with them.. I could imagine more things going way better! more cute & fun things... Chihaya being happier (& Taichi being more miserable lol) - I didn't notice this before but Arata's message for Chihaya and Taichi was already prepared, so he was already gonna send it before he found out the bad news. Damn, Chihaya would have been so happy if it wasn't for all the Taichi-drama... Right? Taichi is always in the way.. - In the manga, after receiving Arata's msg, Chihaya thought of Taichi only "He'll come back for sure and I will wait for him". But Anime changed it to "we" and it was in Arata's voice... Not really sure about this... but I think anime is just imagining things... that was what Taichi said to Chihaya in the past and Arata's msg reminded her of that message..that's what I understood anyway.... wow, this was long but I think we could keep going like way longer! aren't we really obsessed? but who cares! today is Arachiha day in Japan by the way, I made an edit for it and gonna go post it right away! |

Good afternoon ^^ Sorry (again) guys ...for missing a lot & for the questions I couldn't answer in time and all & Thank you for making this place always pleasant to visit with your new updates... Sorry to read about your situation @sweetangie, I hope you guys feel -even if a little- better now ...I'm not sure what to say but please take good care of yourself and your family, i'm sure that's what your mother would want you to do ... ... And you are right...Life is hard and we are bound to suffer in a way or another and things like Chihayafuru give us chances to breath so please breath with us and keep going!! consider us another family of yours and BREATH WITH US!! ... @Avish kun, welcome to the "frustrated-because-of-drama-queen-Taichi" club! I haven't done any continuous re-read/rewatch and I suddenly feel like I want to buuuuuuut ... :/ speaking of the backgrounds, I'm sorry for not being able to figure out anything and i rather got another question myself. on chapter 166, the use of backgrounds between Arata & Chihaya is interesting I don't know how Suetsugu chooses them really or whether she sticks to one BG for one meaning, but there are the obvious ones that I gave names to lol. hmm here aren't these two BGs used in turns for some reason? I don't know what the relationship with 145 is but you are right, there should be some sort of link, at least I can confidently say that Suetsugu wanted to express a somehow CLOSE feeling in the two situations (which proves more that Chihaya's look on 145 wasn't melancholy like some fans say) Chihaya is certainly "excited" to play Arata in 166, and I guess, that background expresses that excitement related to him specifically...but you know what I'm more concerned about? it's WHY I HAVE THIS NAGGING FEELING THAT ARATA IS RATHER UNCERTAIN HE WANTS THE REMATCH WITH CHIHAYA!!!! lol I mentioned this before and looks like i'm the only one who feels that xD Anyway... I only received few panels about the extra chapter and the translation you saw is google's (with my help XD) but I understood that the chapter is not related to the main story.. Suetsugu just used her characters to create sort of a manual yes. @iNameless_ thank you for every creation you made, i fell in love with your latest edits and the chosen messages for each, I love the fact that the feelings you chose are shared in a way or another between the two. 10 more days before the next chap and i'm hopeful about it.. Arata's BD and a chapter about Arata ! Can't wait!! |

I'm so glad you liked them, I wanted to make them the moment I saw the calendar made by Cork with such elegance, I knew Arachiha moments deserve such designs hihi. I have other ideas but they'll have to wait... i have an assignment to do for now.. I saw that you posted the interview in the DATA thread & I just wanted to remind you of the chapters review too... you really should do something to save their locations (I needed to check them again and I had to look for them in all the comments which is a bit duh) Also what do you think about the use of Tare & Tachi in 225 (which I posted above)? |

I wonder who chapter 232 will be about because according to BeLove's tweet (check the news thread), it's so touching! (I hope it's Arata ....... or even Yuu?) The tweet says that a certain character's "secret thoughts" will be revealed and those whose thoughts were like secrets until now are Arata, Chihaya, maybe Suo too? somehow? at least they are a secret for his surroundings? I feel so impatient to read 232 even before 231 xd how about you guys? @iNameless_ I already said how I believe that "Tare" from chapter 229 was a way for Suesugu to confirm that Taichi x Chihaya is no more than friendship, that's what Chihaya has always wanted and it didn't change even after all her sadness because of him quitting the club & staying away from her so I believe that your analysis makes sense. Until recently, Taichi was referred to using his main card "Tachi wakare" and changing it to "Tare" is meaningful. the poem "Tachi" fits perfectly the love he feels and makes a wonderful tool to continue the story of making Chihaya and Taichi end up together IF Suetugu intended it... the poet promises to come back to the person he loves if he learn that she is pinning for him & she wants him, wouldn't it be so fitting for a scenario where Chihaya finally tells Taichi how she needs him and how she thinks she can't live without him and how life was hard away from him, Taichi will feel "wanted" and he will let go of his insecurities to tell Chihaya everything clearer, to confess that he couldn't forget her and that he still wants a chance etc.. it's so easy to turn it into "something" that can lead to future romance of the two... but instead, Suetsugu started to insert Tare here and there to describe Chihaya's thoughts and what Taichi is for her so.. I believe that you really have a point. As for the Chapters' review, I'll see what I can do about it... |

WHAT WENT THROUGH MY MIND WHILE I WAS READING CH226 !! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Shinobu in her fine Kimono was happy or proud? What are the flowers around her? Who knows, we only know that anything they might symbolize is already clear on her face and pose. She played a very strong opponent, she had “special” fun and she won. Only one remaining win and she will preserve her title for the 4th year in a row. Chihaya on the other hand was lost… She did everything she could “come up with” but she still couldn’t win any of the two matches… maybe “come up with something new” was her mistake? Could it be that it’s impossible to defeat the queen in her world, should Chihaya bring her out instead, Chihaya probably didn’t even thought of this because she is completely lost, she worked very hard and her hard work paid off somehow but it is not enough Chihaya seems unable to have any fun; it’s all about needing to win for some reason, why the passionate Chihaya feels so far away? Arata is shook! He is no longer seeing the Meijin in front of him, he is rather calling Chihaya’s name! On the Meijin board we can see 4 poems, (one was shown clearer behind Hiro who was confused with Arata’s sudden distraction; Sudo also noticed and wondered + the 4 poems seem all on Suo’s side?) 30/Ariake no: the poet expresses his hate for dawns after he had to part from his lover at a dawn with a moon that looked so cold and indifferent. 76/Watanohara-ko: This is the second “Arata” poem (as it starts with the word WATA). The poet describes white waves rolling onward which can be mistaken for the white clouds up in the heavens. 20/ Wabi nureba: a consuming passion poem in which the poet tells the woman he loves that he is willing to sacrifice everything to continue their relationship and that he will go meet her despite the heavy price he knows he will have to pay. 74/ Ukari keru: The poet is in distress because the lady he loves is cold to him and his prayers to be happy with her were futile. The choice of these poems might be clarified when the cards are read but (because Suo seems shadowed somehow and the focus is on Arata), we can still think that they are about Arata’s feelings and what he wants to do about Chihaya’s state now and how she will treat him after her loss .. She already turned her head away from him after her 1st loss, she avoided him, and now she lost again and Arata who is in love with her is really worried. Arata assesses the situation, Chihaya has 2 losses which will put a great pressure on her for the next games and give Shinobu the chance to be more relaxed. The image of Chihaya’s back when she rushed out with her hand on her face as if she was crying was so strong for Arata, the background intensifies what he felt, he was really worried and repeating her name while sweating (dunno if this was intentional, but he wasn’t sweating before he noticed Chihaya (on ch225)) On the other hand, Suo was still completely focused. 78/Awaji shima: was read and Arata was late. Suo took it This poem tells about the sleepless nights of a guard at some gate caused by the cries of the plover birds crossing the place known as an exile (the plover is also used to symbolize winter) so this poem might invoke the feelings of loneliness and nostalgia. 65/Urami wabi: was the next one and Arata was also late, the difference is now only 1 card. Sudo was cheering for Suo and wandering if a luck of the draw will be the fate of this game. Arata was taken aback! The poet of Urami wabi is a lady who is separated from her husband so she felt resentment to him, she cried and her sleeves were always wet but what concerned her more was her reputation tainted because of her failed relationship. These two poems didn’t appear on the board (because only the upper part was showing) but 78 was on Arata’s side & 65 was on Suo’s. The fact that 78 was the poem read to pull Arata out of his thoughts and keep him focused on his match makes me see it as the plover birds keeping the guard from going to sleep. It can also hint at the distraction itself, if sleep is what we do at night but the plovers prevent it, then Arata should focus on his game but his worry for Chihaya also prevents it, so his feelings or Chihaya’s state is the plovers. As for 65, I can’t think of many possible reasons but it might be the “reputation” part, maybe it’s a hint at Arata’s “name” as the “grandchild of eternal meijin Wataya Hajime” that everyone was eager to see through him which might soon be challenged. Murao & Kuriyama wondered what happened to Arata after he achieved such good result till now. Suo had his eyes glued to the Tatami, his aunt was there, he knew but he didn’t try to look. Arata’s club-mates explained that this was a sign of Suo’s strength: he would use the least of your mistakes like losing your focus for even a sec. Riza specifically was very nervous. Arata started to revise what was read and what wasn’t. he kept good track of all read and unread cards, including the dead cards (Taichi was always praised when he did this but now that Arata is doing it, it feels normal and so like him, I believe we all know that Arata is stronger, Taichi showed us the process to arrive there but Arata was the first to arrive there, he definitely passed by most what Taichi experienced.). With this review, Arata knows what he can use his cross sweep on: Wabi & Wata-ko. Ariake is the 3rd remaining card on Tatami (besides the two above & the thress are drawn earlier on the board) but there are also 3 A cards not read yet (dead cards) which are 58/Arima+ 39/Asaji+ 64/Asaborake-u, Arata expects that Suo will wait to make sure of the 3rd syllable. Arata was worried & his grandpa’s ghost came to support him like Taichi and Harada’s ghost too, Hajime analyzed Suo before and he noticed that he wasn’t good with the cards on the outer edge of his own formation, this is something Hajime noticed back when he was alive and sane, was it like 5 years ago? So is Suo’s condition worse than back then? Hajime’s teachings calmed Arata a bit, he is ready to fight again (he moves so handsomely), those where only words told to him by his mentor, but he is also a real deal, his body is ready, his hands are used to attack, he practiced enough to be able to go under his opponent’s hand to take a card, luckily an ‘A’ card on Suo’s side was read, Arata attacked and he practiced enough to be able to protect that card until the kimariji is decided (also Suo didn’t practice enough to know how to break that defense, it was a card on the edge of his playing field too, but there are only 3 cards left, so he could commit it to his memory as Arata said before on ch 223, the most important thing is memorization, having a card in your sight Then committing it to your memory, you’ll be able to see it even with closed eyes and Arata played like that before when he couldn’t find his glasses) 30/Ariake is the one read, Arata put his hand on it when he made sure and Suo couldn’t find a way to it. Among the 4 poems initially shown on the board, this one was read. Who does it refer to? (if it does). Who is the unpitying moon? who parted with what? who feels longing for what? I can’t really think of an answer and I can’t even tell if there is an answer to begin with. But, it might have something to do with the idea of “committing the card to memory after sight” because when this principle was explained on 223, this card was among the ones shown around Arata & Suo. Arata’s family members where happy contrary to Suo’s family members.. These two panels made me think that in these matches between these two, the families of the players are as involved as the players themselves. (And Akira looks more surprised than happy, maybe he still doesn’t realize how his own words back at the hotel are true: “Arata, you are strong”.) The commentator confirmed the greatness of Arata’s move and there was a suspicious man behind him LOL (why was this man drawn there?) Arata’s cover seems to be a high level one too, this is all Arata’s Karuta because he is the one using his body for it. Suo now seems in danger like Chihaya. Kuriyama & Murao are overjoyed and Arata went out with rather an indifferent face? there are no signs of relief or happiness, he looks rather lost in thoughts.. I was thinking that Suo acknowledged Arata’s strength (that beat him), but for some reason and contrary to Harada sensei, it’s not only “I don’t want to play anyone who is not strong”, he seems like he doesn’t even want to play this strong Arata, even when Kyoko tan who gives him enough motivation to play, he still couldn’t bring himself to use enough strength to defeat Arata…it’s like he is disappointed, he wants something else from him that Arata isn’t showing him… Anyway, Arata now doesn’t even look tired or invested in his win in any way. Now he looks surprised, is it because he can’t see Chihaya anywhere? the half black & half white background was used before and in my case, it represents “Confusion”. In addition to the blush, Arata makes a completely unrelated face with the one he made after he won, it’s like the moment he came outside, he became someone else, or better, he was someone else but the moment he came out, he became himself again (can we then take the blush as an “Arata is himself” sign & its disappearance as a “Hajime mode” sign? XD) The SFX isn’t BAM right? because who is still taking cards? According to Google, it’s rather (ใใ/ turn suddenly); And seeing Kana searching for her confirmed that she was nowhere around so he went to look for her right away, even before he reports his win and gives back the cards. (he looked like an old man in the 3rd panel lol) and in the 4th, he looked very concerned for Chihaya suddenly sweating and turning around in a hurry. Kana’s way of searching was by shouting loudly everywhere, while Arata’s reflects more of his personality and I like it, he won’t do random things, he goes to the places where she might be, calmly & silently.. I really love this. So he asks around, the bathroom was a good place to look in but she wasn’t there (and he was so amusing being all shy but asking anyway) These few panels tell me more about Arata’s character; he really is used to take matters into his hands. He didn’t go to ask Kana when was the last time Chihaya was seen and where etc. he didn’t approach those who were already searching for her, he went to do it himself. I already said that, but I guess, his parents & his family conditions made him this way. he couldn’t get support, he was rather the one asked to help so he learnt not to ask for help and to take care of things himself instead. The outside was the last place to look in, is it because Arata was more intuitive that he could find her before Kana who was already searching before he even finished his match? Who knows, but I certainly see Arata as a reliable guy, he always was and he is also now. And there she was, Chihaya was crouching on the cold snow… Arata stuttered like usual before he gets Chihaya’s name out; A whole page just to tell us Arata found Chihaya crying desperately in the snow and her bare feet were red from cold. No special backgrounds, no hinting no indirect messages, it’s all snow and white and they were the only ones there. Arata put his hand on her back casually then lowered his head to see her face (imagining this in slow motion is so warm) and then noticed her freezing toes.. As Arata noticed Chihaya’s feet, he held her up on his shoulder, no blushing, no shyness, no hesitation, no clumsiness, his familiar self was buried and Chihaya is what matters now! Arata is strong! He is 177cm and weighs 65kgs while Chihaya is 167 and weighs 54kgs, not much difference right? And this wasn’t the 1st time he carries her, He did before when she fainted in her 1st nationals, he carried her bridal style, now it’s an OTS carry (yep, read about this on TV tropes and they gave it an abbreviation lol “Over The Shoulder carry”) Chihaya was surprised but her focus soon was turned to the box of cards that Arata dropped while carrying her, She started to apologize, she certainly sees the cards as living humans now, Arata wasn’t as concerned, she was 1st for him and everything will come after. When the box fell, 4 poems were revealed: 6/kasassagi no: The misty bridge between distant lovers that will bring them together for sure. 51/Kaku to dani: This is about a fierce love that the poet feels burning inside him but doesn’t know how to express it to the woman he loves. 26/Ogurayama: The poet tries to invite an emperor to visit a certain pretty place that his father visited before and he wished his son would come to see it too. He uses the maple leaves to express the felt desire & longing to see the emperor-son. And half shown, 72/Oto ni kiku: it’s about the known waves of "Takashi beach" that the poet doesn’t want to approach not to wet her sleeve, but it’s actually about her not trusting the invitation she got from a man and fearing a love affair that will end in tears, this poem can be used to express avoiding something not to get hurt by it… Again, none can say for sure why exactly these poems but I strongly believe that they are a hint. And for me, they are saying something about the relationship between Chihaya & Arata (they are a love story!!). Looking back on the history of poem 6, we can expect that Suetsugu is going back to the idea of "there is a distance between Chihaya & Arata which is like the distance of the two legendary lovers Orihime & Hikoboshi" but this time, Arata is the one who is preoccupied with this distance more... Kaku to dani: needless to say, this is about Arata’s feelings for Chihaya, they are burning again because Chihaya needs something to cheer her up so he needs to convey them somehow. Ogurayama: I believe this is about the maple leaves carrying Arata’s feelings. Even if he doesn’t try to show it or be vocal about it, even though he used his phone only 3 times to send something to Chihaya (was only a msg through Taichi, then a message to her & Taichi and finally a call-what a progress lol), but he longs for her and wants her to be happy like how the emperor would have felt if he came to see those pretty crimson maple leaves. He wants his feelings to make Chihaya happy somehow. And the half-shown Oto ni kiku is about fear of love and tears. This is about Chihaya who isn’t allowing herself to be involved with love yet! there is something she feels lacking which is necessary before she lets herself love and I believe it’s the thing making her turn her head away from Arata .. Then Chihaya realized, then looked at Arata’s head, he won his much! he now has 2 wins and one more win and he will achieve the dream he shared with her, the kinda promise: “this weekend, let’s make our 1st dream the reality” Then Chihaya cried, helplessly. She congratulated Arata through her tears but she was rather miserable… It’s so hard to be happy for him right? this is not a win which will be enough to get by either him OR her, whichever happens should be good if they are friends right? but no, this is about her!! I have a feeling that if Chihaya won & Arata not, she wouldn’t be very sad for him.. There is something telling me that Chihaya is only scared of being left behind by Arata, as long as he doesn’t, she will be fine, but if he does, she will feel devastated. this is such a strong word, but I mean it. And she voiced a bit of her concern, she was afraid she can never win, even though she lost only by 3 cards, personally, I’ll think that from 7 cards to 3, I can make it in the next game, but Chihaya seems to think that the strongest she can be is the way she was in this second game, then she can only get close to Shinobu that much, not to lose with more than 3 cards. Arata was surprised; maybe he never thought she could lose hope? or maybe he is confused how she can say so when he believes that she can win against Shinobu.. And ofc, before he says anything Kana & Tamaru finally found Chihaya. Kana is as wary of Arata as ever, the n°1 Taichiha shipper. But apparently, she didn’t see Arata bringing Chihaya from outside, she saw only when he put her down and that looked “too close” for her and “hurry up, let’s go to your waiting room, it’s like she is saving her from Arata.. While our gentleman was putting Chihaya down so carefully while looking at her feet whether they are fine or not. Kana is indeed a typical Taichiha shipper, I have seen it a lot, no matter what Arata does, he is always a target for hate or at least disdain. Approaching Chihaya is a big no for them let alone take caring of her. I tried to laugh at this panel, I thought that sensei really is referring to those fans, she might have wanted it to be a comical moment but it’s not. What I saw is that, again, Kana is putting Taichi & herself before Chihaya & it sucks. Arata didn’t even notice her though, thankfully, all he could see was Chihaya, the painful face she was making & her tears (The background of confusion as I call it).. Arata suddenly took us for another rare moment inside his stubbornly concealed heart, the clumsy guy who seems shallow & insensitive to lot of readers.. Chihaya’s weight alone made him look so deep into her and see so much…She is unfamiliar to him, he didn’t get to learn earlier about her everything, but in every second he is given, we saw him pay a lot of attention and see her with more than his eyes. Chihaya’s tears meant that she worked so hard and that didn’t pay off, she wouldn’t have cried this much otherwise. And he can already learn that much about her by just imagining what he wasn’t there to witness, she worked so so hard. Looking at his hands (Chihaya was there lol), he looked so deep in thought, but he remembered the cards he left on the snow.. He rushed to bring them but his thoughts were full of Chihaya and how to cheer for her, Arata acknowledged her strength, she is an amazing strong player who can really defeat Shinobu (he seems to believe he can also defeat Suo).but he is not good at communicating his feelings & thoughts, he is clumsy & he knows it..so will he hide his clumsiness to look cool like Taichi does most of the time? No, that wasn’t what Arata thinking, he was rather wondering about a way to make her know what might save her.. He took the cards getting now wet from the snow, he took 77/SE while he was wondering.. “Se” is about the separated ones who will certainly meet again.. it’s like Arata feels a boulder blocking his thoughts and feelings from reaching her and he wants to find a way to bypass it & reach her. “Se” has always been a special card for Arata and it is because of Chihaya.. It was the 1st card Chihaya took from him and he already got it back from her in their match but for Arata, SE is more than that. It’s the card that started Chihaya’s journey in Karuta. and Arata is confident that he is the only one who knows, and he is confident that the level she showed in her match with him is the highest she reached, or the highest anyone can reach, or at least, if she is defeated by Shinobu in 2 matches today and was already defeated by her in ch169 then it’s a level she didn’t go to again after her match with him and she still can do it. Arata’s head was really full of Chihaya, he is so focused on her that he totally forgot he too is where he worked to be for so many years, longer and maybe even harder than Chihaya herself (for almost 12 years, more than half of his life, no it’s 2 thirds of his life!!!), so the Murao twins came to remind him of what he forgot since the match ended, of the Meijin title & his grandpa. Only one other win to be were Hajime Wataya seems to have wanted Arata to be (or at least that’s what Arata thought) Yep, Hajime is telling him to focus, to forget about Chihaya & concentrate on him & his goal. “Se” was shown again with the words “the mejin title”, is that the boulder separating the stream of the river? Arata placed Se back on top of the cards in the box next to another card: 18/Su mi no e no: This poem is about hiding from people’s gaze when going to meet the lover, trying to avoid exposure even in dreams.. Doesn’t it suit the moment perfectly? when the twins came to remind Arata of the Meijin title and his status, he hid “SE” (representing also his feelings for Chihaya) in the box, it’s like how the poet who is an aristocrat from the great Fujiwara family (Fujiwara men are known to choose their wives in the family) is afraid of being exposed. Arata closed the box, it’s also like “Se” keeps him the real Arata (he said that he lacked love to be himself, so maybe Se is his love poem to Chihaya, his love saves him regardless of whether she reciprocates it or not contrary to Taichi, his love always hurt him, like a curse) The Karuta officials are the happiest for Arata’s win it seems, he pleased them, he revived Wataya Hajime for them again, they are blessed, for them, it’s all about them & Hajime it seems, Arata isn’t really seen for who he is… Arata remembered when that man told him that because Arata’s Karuta is exactly like Hajime’s, he was able to see Wataya sensei again. Back then Arata cried, he said that he really loves Karuta.. Could it now turn into a curse? because it’s too much? Because he is losing himself? because he is not seen? Why was Arata happy back then? and is the reason weaker than any probable desire now to be seen for who he is? Suo was upset! His dear aunt that he didn’t meet for 8 years suddenly came all the way from Kyushu to see him, but he wasn’t happy..He lost two games but he doesn’t seem worried about that... Yukiko was kind and looks like the sweets are a family thing? Sudo is confused (he is amusing when he is like that) & Suo’s cousin is more impressed because Suo had lot of female friends lol Suo was nervous, he wanted to ask how and why they were suddenly there but he stuttered and According to Yukiko chan’s answer, we learn that Suo developed the habit of soft talking after he quit Kyushu. After 8 years of separation, she wanted to touch the boy she loved so much and cared immensely for, maybe it’s because she can’t see him well too, but she failed to reach his face, she couldn’t see well, and Suo felt so hurt, but like anyone else with pride, his reaction was based on his suffering not on hers. And instead of being hurt herself, she rather was worried about him, why would he be cruel to her unless he too is suffering from her same illness. The whole conversation in this page feels weird. Suo raised his voice from frustration and these relatives didn’t try to listen to him before. The cousin rather teased him about his loss as if it’s nothing, (he highlighted the fact that Arata is a youngster too) And Yukiko’s answer was soething I didn’t expect! She doesn’t seem to care much about the Meijin thing, she rather looked hopeful (notice the sudden blush), she thought that if Suo is no longer Meijin then he can go back home. What was even more surprising is that Suo looked agitated but his answer wasn’t what I expected, he asn’t worried that his title doesn’t see precious that his relatives would want him to keep, he was rather worried that what they are offering is impossible because he grew up to become a stranger and going back to his home is impossible. Seems that Suo would consider his home any place Yukiko owns, but he knew that she didn’t own the house she told him to go back to. (isn’t this a reason to work harder in univ then get a job and buy a house to bring Yukiko to live with him instead?) The cousin got angry because things like these aren’t considered in a warm loving family where elderly are respected and considered owners before what papers say.. Suo didn’t seem to want to listen, and he left hurriedly causing his condition to beclearer to his aunt as he bumped with many things in his way out. (BACKGROUND of confusion in the last panel) Still, Suo couldn’t leave before knowing why they suddenly came. and the description was so easy to tell him who, Suo realized it right away, the boy with big eyes who would wish for Suo’s family to come watch him (because he is incredible & wants his family to know that? or bc he pities him?) The boy with big eyes was “Mashima kun” they called him this many times, now they didn’t mention the name, I wonder how Sudou would have felt if he knew? would he realize that Taichi really got the closest to Suo, somewhere he couldn’t go? Chitose left, Chihaya’s mom knew but didn’t understand why, Kana, tsukuba & Nishida stayed out of the room while Chihaya, Tamaru, Namida, Sumire & the last boy from Mizusawa that went to Shiranami were all inside, Kana told the mom it’s better to stay out and those inside were all experiencing the reason lol Ah no, Namida was doing great, he is such positive and hard working boy, he is not wasting his time by being afraid or nervous, he is taking notes instead! Chihaya is the most nervous because she is the reason Harada sensei is furious. Harada never taught Chihaya to send back a card because the opponent will place it again in its original place that they remember well (and we know that Chihaya sent it to provoke Shinobu -see ch222), provocative Karuta based on the knowledge of what Shinobu hates and the cards she won’t place next to each other was Watarai’s teaching. Yep, Shiranami’s way is to target the opponent’s memorization as much as possible, Shiranai members are scared of Harada but can’t deny that he is right, he is a great teacher, has a good experience in Karuta and in teaching, maybe them being present here to hear & learn is the biggest proof. Chihaya also didn’t lift her head, she knew he was totally right, she can’t think that losing was because she was unlucky in front of the strongest queen, it’s because of those small mistakes she allowed herself to make. Harada’s words kept hitting hard for Chihaya. Maybe he didn’t say that she was wrong, she learnt a new way in 2 months but she already had a strong way that she could fortify in these 2 months too.. Chihaya focused on Shinobu’s cards and neglected her own? isn’t this beneficial for an offensive Karuta player? I don’t get it well But Harada didn’t understand much of Chihaya’s new method either and he was honest & fair, he acknowledged what Chihaya still achieved: she got a strong reaction from Shinobu. Did Shinobu’s smile mean that she wasn’t indifferent with Chihaya? that she enjoyed the “strong” opponent? Harada told Chihaya that Shinobu seems to have enjoyed her match with her like she enjoyed her match with Arata which means that Chihaya played at Arata’s level back then and that is an achievement! He smiled to her to make her feel better, because she really did great by learning new strong weapons in 2 months.. And now it’s time for the 3rd game. at this point, we don’t really know if Chihaya was better? if she calmed down? While Arata seems to be still in his grandpa mode, (he looks really like an old man here, calm and silent, he wasn’t like in the 1st break And he was completely the opposite of his father who was so energetic and very satisfied with Yuu’s gift, a design with the word “TOP” inspiring more will to do one’s best to reach the top! Akira seems quite fond of Yuu (I am too), she was admitted to her school of choice & he is happy for her, the Watayas talk so familiarly about her like she is really a close relative except Arata… Akira is really hard to deal with, he does whatever he wants and he is very fond of Yuu. Asking for Arata’s phone to call her & thank her, Arata rejected any try to involve him in this mess (he didn’t even react when Akira said that he will make up a lie and say that Arata was touched because of her gift, Yuu would have probably known it’s a lie because Arata wouldn’t react like that… But it’s IC if he does for Chihaya right?), he was trying his best to focus, he didn’t show any enthusiasm about Yuu; Her, his father, the food or anything of the sort couldn’t break his grandpa mode. And finally, Taichi’s message was discovered, Arata didn’t want to read anything before his game but knowing it’s about Taichi, would that be still the case? Arata stopped! getting a message from Taichi who didn’t come to watch made him really stop, Taichi is really special to Arata. And turning back he found Chihaya there too, she heard what Akira said & her face showed surprise!. Chihaya seemed lost in her desperation, she didn’t say a word she just turned quickly wishing to find something for her too from Taichi, she needed him, when Taichi was around he could somehow find a way to make things better and she needs it now because she is not fine, Harada’s words didn’t seem to heal her fully, she sighed when she didn’t find anything.. Arata was confused (the BACKGROUND), and when Chihaya saw him she blushed & turned her head away in embarrassment, Arata lifted her suddenly earlier and she didn’t have time to do this back then. Why? if it was because Taichi now then what about the 1st time? It wasn’t because of Taichi, it was because she looked weak in front of Arata. Chihaya has always worked hard to reach him, to become someone who can meet his passion, to be worth sitting across him in Karuta.. but she kept losing where he kept winning, he was always ahead and she could never arrive there. Chihaya was embarrassed of her weak self who showed more weakness and dependence of Taichi’s help, it’s like she can’t go anywhere without his support… Arata knew that wasn’t true. Akira asked again if Arata wanted to look at Taichi’s message and Chihaya passed him just now without a word (and Kana still looked at him sideway lol) …so many distractions, Hajime Wataya’s voice was calling him again to focus, just a bit more & he’ll be the Meijin, that’s all he was about after all right? NOT RIGHT!!! That wasn’t all Arata was about, not for those who care to look at him properly! Arata wasn’t worried about being ditched, or about what Taichi’s message might contain, he rather remembered when Chihaya showed him her special bond with Taichi that day when she crushed him.. This was good reason to feel jealous or upset but that’s not who Arata was… He took Chihaya’s hand and disobeyed his grandpa’s words! Arata’s face looks desperate trying to reach Chihaya to make her see the truth he believes about her, she can defeat Shinobu & he means it, he knows her strength too and he could compare, he knows when Chihaya was the strongest and how Taichi is the last piece in what Chihaya fought for and became the strongest… The blush on Arata’s face says how much he wanted to make it through to her, how many times does Arata show emotions? the calm and collected guy, what does it mean when he shows such face? “You shouldn’t go play with Shinobu chan in her arena” Harada sensei pointed out Chihaya’s mistakes but he didn’t show her a way to follow, it’s like he no longer has an advice for her, he gave her everything he got and when she strayed from his path he reminded her, but that’s all, And Arata’s advice was something else, like a Karuta expert, he knew what to tell Chihaya, even though he didn’t watch her matches or maybe he did? because he didn’t seem in a pinch in his own vs Suo, maybe he got time to look sometimes… Arata really had what to say, and Chihaya listened because what she heard was useful. She wanted o go where the lonely Shinobu is but she couldn’t face everything in that world and she came out leaving a still lonely Shinobu inside, Arata tells her to bring Shinobu outside instead, to show her the wonderful things outside that can give Chihaya the same strength as Shinobu, something she might want to come out to get? Chihaya saw an illusion for the calm Queen, the plant in the frame was always used for Shinobu too and it seems (and I’m not sure) that Suetsugu uses it for Shinobu who is Shinobu and not the Queen. Chihaya found Arata’s words interesting, that was some good technical support but she had to think more to find her arena Though, Arata wouldn’t let her, he gives her now the emotional support, he knew Chihaya needed Taichi (not the person, but at least sensing his presence in what he left) so he decided to give her that, anything she needs, he wouldn’t be jealous or needy or immature, he put her 1st and I admire the way he loves even more! Everyone saw what Arata wanted to show, it wasn’t a secret or personal message to Chihaya, and Taichi is the captain of Mizusawa, he pushed that team, and Arata brought it to push it again. Arata persisted bc he knew very well how much Chihaya values Taichi & her team, he didn’t need to be there for 3 years to know, he is very attentive and intuitive too and looks at Chihaya really properly!. Arata’s words were moving to all Mizusawa members, they all blushed emotionally, and Chihaya cried, maybe because she missed this or maybe because she somehow betrayed it by forgetting it and not working for her team like she said she would before…(this chapter looks so direct, no BACKGROUNDs, no shoujo effects) Arata held Chihaya’s hand so gently (I wonder why sensei drew this panel, it’s totally unnecessary for anything other than highlighting Arata’s love (romantic love because I can’t imagine him do this to Yuu if she ever goes through something like this)) He mentions his loss to her as something big which is a compliment to Chihaya & an acknowledgement of her strength & level. He says it with no embarrassment because her win was well deserved (I want to see Taichi make a confession like this to Arata). And Mizusawa captain was strong because she played for her team, she used all she had for them… so Chihaya again, only has to play her own Karuta, this is the opposite of what Chihaya told Arata in his match against Harada, she told him to play like someone else.. Amusing! In Shinobu’s waiting room, Shinobu was acting like a child, so carefree; she only has 1 remaining win to keep her title after all. She also seems so close with Kokoro chan now (Kokoro called her Shinobu without “chan” or anything, it implies so much familiarity right?) also Shinobu is a bad example it seems lol. Though Kokoro mentions something that might be a hint to Shinobu’s next loss (a 3rd game is tiresome). And then when Shinobu was about to get up, something was off, she felt something but she didn’t see what it was? Kokoro asked but she didn’t answer? Chihaya was shown right after that still having her tears while Arata kept explaining what he wanted to say, like he himself does, he gave her an image he knows will push her to win, she had to think that she is playing in a team tournament, her team is losing, they have two losses and 0 wins, now the remaining 3 members should all win at all costs and Chihaya will play the role of the three players, it’s like when they played in the finals of last year’s high school team tournament vs Fujisaki where both Tsukuba & Tsukue kun lost and Chihaya, Taichi & Nishida felt the responsibility to win each their game, Taichi was the one who voiced this desire 1st (ch81). ((That was the game Chihaya felt upset because Arata told her that he didn’t care for teams and now, he is showing her the opposite of what she feared back then, he treasures "teams" & knows exactly how important one is for any member.)) And Arata impersonated Taichi for Chihaya! He should have felt jealous, he already experienced that feeling and wanted to be the one Chihaya sees, but now & for her sake, he accepted Taichi and even revived him in her memory to get as much strength from that as she needs. He wasn't there but he must have known Taichi would say that for Chihaya so he reminded her of it for her sake instead of being selfish & feeling miserable or jealous (reminds me of when Chihaya hid in the closet after she lost, the way Taichi brought up Arata’s name all miserable & helpless, he couldn’t forget about himself for a bit for Chihaya contrary to Arata even though he didn’t have anything to be confident about, Chihaya was closer to Taichi, she cared for him so much, she showed him this care in front of his eyes, he had every reason to feel threatened but he didn’t, Chihaya mattered more than that to him …) |

Taichi!! wonderful review of chapter 226, my favorite chapter ever and I didn't expect that I could love it even better but I DO NOW!!! I am very interested in the poem 26 (ogurayama), it was chosen as the poem for volume 45 in the whole volume, it was used only twice: one on ch226 as you mentioned and the other is on ch229 when Chihaya's ability to take cards as one syllable was mentioned, back then Tamaru thought that only SE was a 1 syllable card in play but Chihaya took Ogu after hearing "O" even though there were other O cards unread... Which of the two uses are more meaningful for the story I wonder ...i'll be watching this card carefully from now on! again, thank you very much! and please, if you can, make more chapter analysis! (and post them all in one specific thread instead XD) ---------------------------------- Thank you for your addition about Tare & Tachi! I agree and I don't have anything to add! About the tweet now, I saw the post and the article on Comici, sensei said that she wanted to draw the feelings of a character even if they are not a main one, so maybe it's Yuu chan? Edit: She seems to have rather said that she wants to draw it even if it's not related to the main plot of the manga While drawing episode 232, after suffering, I was surprised to say, "I didn't hear the story," and prepared a chair in my head, and I heard the story of a character. Then, the kindness, regret, and compassion of the character that I hadn't expected came to me, and I was crying like never before (I was surprised at how much I didn't). This feeling of this person may not be related to the main line of the work. But what's wrong with not expressing this feeling? At the bottom of the dark sea, where I was just groaning, I saw a line of light saying, "I have this manga to draw this." If it's Yuu, I welcome it with all my heart because I know it's related to Arata hmm there was the story sensei shared on IG, a page about a still focused Chihaya, if it's about Yuu, will her secret thoughts be told while she is on her way? I don't think she will arrive yet to Omi Jingu right? Also Arata should suffer a bit more in the next chapter first so we have time to worry about that later..now prepare some tissues for Arata xD |

Also I forgot to mention this, looks like sensei posted Arata's face in a fleet (twitter story) but she soon deleted it (she insists on hiding Arata from us ..she is teasing us XD) but a fan already captured the image and here is the illustrations The text on Arata's face is something about how Suetsugu sensei enjoys drawing eye balls. |

Rawaa chan, I'm glad my review made sense ... For "Ogurayama", I'd say, the second use is more meaningful and better explained but then this will make our curiosity shift more to it's 1st use? this make me personally wonder more whether the way I saw it is actually what sensei wanted, because it doesn't look like a random choice.. still yes, we don't really know so let's keep an eye on it and enjoy how our knowledge of its meaning & background makes the context richer!! For the tweet and who 232 will be about, reading the few spoilers of 231 makes me think that "Shinobu's mother" could be a better possibility than Yuu, what do you think? we never got a chance to know exactly how she sincerely feels about her daughter's life & karuta even with all her random nagging here & there... what she asked her mother (Shinobu's grandmother), what she wants to do when spring comes ..she started a conversation about it but it was cut and we might finally learn what she wanted & why.. ... So it is believed that Arachiha fans hate yuu? how weird!! personally, among all female characters of Chihayafuru, I think Yuu is the most reliable and stable, she is strong and admirable (this is how I see her, that's why I hate the way the novels portrayed her in some scenes and how they tried to give her kindness & care some excuse (loving Arata romantically) which is really a shame but thankfully, that's just someone else's story -almost wishful one too... -- Arata's face in the illustration looks so um .. uncharacteristically feminine? maybe even more than Chihaya's? but still handsome nonetheless.. |

I AM SOOOO HAPPY THIS MONTH, SO SATISFIED!! the chapter, Chihaya's growth her "gift to Arata (on his birthday xd and him already been drawn wearing a tasuki so beautifully in chap 216's cover) (the fact that Arata also supported her on ch226 that was released on Chihaya's birthday) Arata's birthday, the way it was celebrated on twitter and how sensei retweeted and commented on MOST posts, she seemed so happy and invested, it felt like she was surprised at how much Arata is loved ..I want to cry!! Also the words she used to describe Arata in her own post (+the cute illustration!) her words specifically mean a lot to me Aaah, I want to comment more but I have to leave!!!! @Avish kun, you better be here when I come back hihi (hope you are fine!) I want to comment a lot but I have another assignment! |

Hello, everyone!! It's been a while!! I'm still busy but I wanted to comment in the group :DD I absolutely love the arachiha panels in this chapter!! what an amazing gift for Arata fans on his birthday!! I wonder if next chapter will be about Yuu after all...we could have a monologue from her and some flashabacks with Arata but I don't think she'd be able to interact directly with him considering the time she needs to get to Omi Jingu and the players about to start the 4th match in the end of this chapter. Also I wanted to talk about sensei's commentary on her picture of Arata's birthday that @iNameless_ posted in the other thread. It in translation sensei asks the question if Arata will go back to Fukui after college. What do you guys think? |

Rawaa chan, I can perfectly understand what you feel because that's how I feel too! the way fans celebrated Arata's birthday was refreshing, I think Suetsugu sensei didn't expect it.. every year the celebration was held in Fukui so it didn't really show how much Arata is loved because he is Arata, I don't doubt Fukui's people's love but Arata being a symbol of that place makes it a bit different, But this time, the pure love Arata received from all over the world is because he is Arata, the character sensei drew with all his details and I personally felt the difference & bet sensei felt it too. What i felt somehow "humorous" though is how some ...fans posted ArataxYuu & ArataxShinobu material & tagged sensei while wishing Arata happy birthday, if you know what I mean xd I mean, I tried to be fair and I wondered if I shipped something other than Arachiha (a ship without a base in the manga) and saw how many Arachiha posts sensei retweeted & complimented, would I have sent her anything about my unrelated ship? the idea made feel a bit embarrassed and I'm curious about how those people felt? are there fans who are really passionate about these two ships? it was surprising -and also amusing XD. Sensei's words also surprised me (hopefully the translation is correct because i'll deserve a beating if not haha) I mean, I had the impression that she didn't really consider Arata's "self-sufficiency" a thing because he seemed fine although -as I described in my chapter reviews- Arata is a victim for those who care to look closely.. I wondered if sensei doesn't even acknowledge the struggle but she does which makes me very delighted too (because it means she will fix it!!) Hanano chaaan!! This place missed you so much :D and actually, it's Fuchu city, the place where Chihaya & the others live :) Arata is going to the university of Tokyo, and I thought that he will live close to it (I personally thought that it will be in Bunkyo city where the main campus is) but sensei seems to consider bringing Arata to Fuchu instead which is closer to Chihaya & Shiranami (wait! does this mean that he will lose now and then join Shiranami again then become Meijin so shiranami would have produced a Queen: Chihaya & a Meijin: Arata??) lol Anyway, I think this is great news for Chiharata shippers more than the "Arachiha moments" in the chapter itself.... I mean, I don't want to ruin your optimistic view but for me, this time, Chihaya spoke with Arata just as a friend. She loves him I'm convinced about this and the small blush she had on her face when he came out of his waiting room reminds us of the difference in how she loves him compared to how she loves Taichi for example, the platonic & the romantic difference but Arata wasn't fine (& it's rare for him to be), Chihaya could understand this and what she wanted is for him to calm down.. counting on her feelings for him isn't what will help someone like him because it's like when she told him she doesn't want to think about love yet, she wants to focus on her tasks related to becoming Queen and fortifying Mizusawa, what Arata told her is that HE TOO wants to focus on his dream, he is someone who thinks that focusing on "love" will distract him, is he right or wrong though, we will learn this later but that's how he answered Chihaya so she spoke to him and offered him her tasuki as a friend and that wasn't a symbol of love Also, Chihaya might struggle without her Tasuki and someone who might have kept it can give her Taichi's tasuki again (don't think this will happen but yeah, just to ruin the mood lol) Saying anything more about the chapter might be jumping the gun so I guess i'll stop here... I mean, yes I'm most interested in how Harada sensei felt about Arata's loss and how he considered his feelings and was unsure of congratulating Chihaya and how he thought of both of them as his disciples but yeah.. I should stop.. |

Wow Taichi, I never thought about that before. It's true the people of fukui celebrate Arata not only because of him but because he represents Fukui. But I love how the fans conveyed to sensei how much loved Arata is!! I saw so many tweets and posts about him. MashimaTaichi_ said: What i felt somehow "humorous" though is how some ...fans posted ArataxYuu & ArataxShinobu material & tagged sensei while wishing Arata happy birthday, if you know what I mean xd I mean, I tried to be fair and I wondered if I shipped something other than Arachiha (a ship without a base in the manga) and saw how many Arachiha posts sensei retweeted & complimented, would I have sent her anything about my unrelated ship? the idea made feel a bit embarrassed and I'm curious about how those people felt? are there fans who are really passionate about these two ships? it was surprising -and also amusing XD. Aww I feel kinda bad. I'm surprised people sent her Arata/Yuu though lol!! Arachiha is pretty much the bigger Arata ship. But yeah I'm so happy sensei replied to all those tweets!! MashimaTaichi_ said: Hanano chaaan!! This place missed you so much :D and actually, it's Fuchu city, the place where Chihaya & the others live :) I missed this place too!! luckily the 1 month break went real fast for me due to me being busy hehe...ohhhh I feel so stupid now! I never knew they lived there, I just assumed they lived in Tokyo for some reason...my geography is bad, I'm sorry!! but what a happy surprise anyway! About Arata joining Shiranami society I think it's both good and bad, it's good because he was in that society back when he was a kid and would go full circle but bad because I feel the role of representing the society would pass to Taichi. And I think it would be cruel to pass that to Arata instead of Taichi. That's just me though MashimaTaichi_ said: Anyway, I think this is great news for Chiharata shippers more than the "Arachiha moments" in the chapter itself.... I'm aware it's a friendship moment but I call Arachiha moment every moment that is just about Chihaya and Arata regardless of its romanticness lol! I noticed Shinobu still had the tasuki Chihaya gave her out of her daddy bear blanket so maybe Shinobu will give it back to her? it would be sweet. |

- yes they live in Tokyo, Tokyo is a prefecture and it contains many cities (if i'm not wrong ofc and my geography isn't that good either, I google things a lot that's all xd) (also could she make him rant that same old room again? which must have been renovated somehow?) - Yeah, I kinda understand because i am always busy lol, it's just some tweets here & there makes me thrilled, like that one about ch232 and I keep checking things whenever i get some free time.. thankfully this time around we won't have to wait a whole month :D - hmmmmm, I wonder why I don't really value Taichi's place in shiranami... I think, he thinks of himself a lot as "himself" and I see him that way too.. for me Taichi is just Taichi..Shiranami is an experience that he lived and now he kinda left it behind..even if he comes back some times it won't be serious ... I don't know I might be too focused of him as an self-centered individual and this is clouding my judgement. but you are right, it would be a bit awkward even for me but for another reason... I imagine that Shiranamy & Nagumo society will forever be rivals for that title, so I can't imagine Arata playing against Nagumo. - wow, I didn't think of that possibility either but yes, the precious Daddy bear item Chihaya used to make that Tasuki might just return to her and it can revive the moments of friendship between these too, because for now, Chihaya seems to totally ignore Shinobu the girl she wanted to save before, she thought that she left her behind and that's the end of it and that now she is the one who is gonna stand on the wilderness of the top! it feels weird to me.. this Chihaya feels cold and I don't really love it... |

@iNameless_ @MashimaTaichi_ Thank you guys for your compassion words my dear friends *group hug*, it's going to take a lot time to heal, I'll stay strong for my mom and see the light my mom has always giving me will forever live in my heart. ;_; Arata is a warm and caring character he gives a good example what it means to be a proud person ( with pure and dignity): even with his own struggles he sees life in a positive light: even so he can't achieve and live his dream alone, he needs support and encouragement from his dear family and friends ,even the soul of his grandpa he loved so much that will forever will guide him:[we all have people in our life who keep us to move forward and live our lives with passion and love] and together he'll walk forward towards he given destiny all the way through: rather he win the tournament or not he'll be satisfy with the results: the most important thing is that he'll discover a lot of amazing things about himself where he holds the key to unleash his potential where his passion was locked within. About ch 231 I'm happy to see Chihaya leading her power to Arata by borrowing her tasuki to him with her name written on it ( it's her indirect present for his birthday in our time, sensei knows exactly what she's doing, lol): saying that she's with him all the way: when Arata face his struggles during the next match seeing Chihaya name will give him the strength and calmness he needs to play his match to the fullest. The other scene I like to point out in how Chihaya's mother knew her daughter was feelings uncertain in what's to come, Chihaya's calmness helped by her mother offering head massage: it reminds me of my mom she used to give me head massage when she dyes my hair, so soothing and relaxing: it's wonderful having a touch of each of our mom's love. Chihaya felt refreshed and calm, so she wanted to offer Arata that sense of calmness, it's sweet to see they have each others back as they are walking forward their 4th match to accomplish their first dream together. |

@sweetangie welcome again and thank you for being this brave and inspiring :) I missed your words full of passion for Arata & Chiharata ^^ your words are spot on, whether Arata wins or loses, what counts really is his peace with himself that I personally am in love with, and the experiences he will learn... he was always clumsy and he didn't have friends, the people around him supported him & pushed him ahead and he followed their guidance but not enough to experience what friends of close age people do, so hopefully, getting the chance to see more things he doesn't know will make him learn positively as he always did. And you are again so right about the Chihaya & her other's moment... I'm a bit of a family person myself so I value the support shared within family so much and I'm glad, Chihaya's mother got even if a bit of role ..mothers are a blessing whether alive or gone, even the memory in our hearts are inspiring and giving us courage ... Chihayafuru is more and more exciting with all stories (especially now that there are less frustrations caused to me by Taichi ^^") I also want to welcome our new member @Arazaran ...this ID caught my attention! I love the poem and I'd love to hear more about the 100 issue and their use in Chihayafuru from people who are interested in them . |

@Avish kun!!!! (firstly, I hope your absence is because of something good) secondy, you read the post above? we've got another Detective san in the team!!! you are really welcome @Arazaran! you got me super excited (and I know i'll be restless the whole time i'll have to work on my next task because i'll be very eager to talk about everything you mentioned) so 'im really looking forward to read so please take your time !! (and thank you very much for taking my particular care for organization into consideration ^^" I say this but please know that it's no obligation, write as freely as you want ^^) @iNameess__ has a record of the use of most cards (she sent it to me but can't find it for some reason :/) so we can use that to ook into the use of the cards faster, "Se" included. and the poems you mentioned are basically our most interesting ones so that's great! And wow!! spot on with the little penguin and number 7!! I believe the penguin is the symbol of BeLove itself (they even use it as profile picture for their official accounts, check twitter for example) While I don't think that only 6 remaining chapters will not be spoken about somehow clearly, it stays a possibility We already guessed that the remaining chapter are rather like this but who knows? and I feel already anxious!! For 232, something is teling me that it will be Shinobu's mother. We already got the first hints that her story still has a lot to be unfolded ..things left unsaid and Shinobu isn't as indifferent about their cold relationship, she rather wants her om's love, so my guess is that it will be about them instead... Well we need to read the translated chapter first to know more ofc ^^". |

It's nice to be missed! Hehe! So thanks for that guys! :) But sadly my absence wasn't because of something good... Our 300-year-old ancestral home is being demolished... so, few of us family members went to visit it one last time... it was really painful to remove all our belongings from there and shift to a rented place... so many precious memories... seeing it being taken down brick by brick............. Anyway, I didn't have access to a PC there and I don't like typing on the tiny smartphone screen... hence the long absence... Hope you're doing okay now, Angie-san... a warm Arata-hug for you :) The new chapter after 2 months and 2-3 huge posts [you really did comment on my every point, Rawaa-san! and welcome Arazaran (kun/san)]... Reading them and responding should have been exciting... but I'm not really feeling much enthusiasm... really sorry about that... demolition work is going to go on for another month or so... so I'll be going back there a couple more times in between... so probably won't be posting much during that time also... but even though I didn't post anything, I did read all your posts on the tiny screen, so do keep on writing. Looking forward to all your responses to Arazaran's impressive analysis and Taichi-Kun's "WWTMMWIWR" post about 231 ;) |

@Arazaran, I apologize for all this delay, as I said, i'm working on something and it dragged longer than I expected unfortunately but I couldn't resist reading your analysis and let me tell you, while there are lot of things I disagree with, I can't express how surprised I was when I saw all the data you collected and the way you reasoned in multiple places I laughed for real repeated "another real detective!!" lol I love this so much, the pleasure is really ours to have you with us so I hope to have the needed time soon to reply on everything you said... (also yes ofc, I offered and i'll be glad to help..when I get free time that is :( ) Avish, I'm sorry for what happened to your residence, while I believe that it's very sad & painful because you say so I still can't deny that I'm relieved you yourself are safe and healthy... this world will disappear someday I believe so everything is less important than the human life and health itself... Be strong and keep going. We will wait for you.. always. about my "WWTMMWIWR" post, I didn't read the chapter yet so it's gonna take some time but yeah, looking forward to reading it thoroughly.. @iNameless_ , if you can, would you please post the history of "SE"?, Araza-san (can I call you this? it's the kimariji of the card xd) has mentioned some of its uses especially recent ones but I think the history of SE goes way back, no, through the whole story so I want to see tall the scenes together? |

Arazaran this is torture ^^ » You are overwhelming me with all your analysis you are amazing and I want to take part of it but I’m really dead tired my brain feels frozen and I still didn’t finish my project ..i didn’t even get a chance to read the last chapter yet *sighs* Still a quick answer: What I mainly disagree with is about the link between SE & Mizusawa + your theories about the end of the manga. I believe the manga still has at least 14 chapters for many reasons… For SE, you are right, there are two storylines, one is about Shinobu, I don’t know if you read our analysis about it before but Shinobu’s jealousy of Chihaya is probably the reason Sotoku in left her side so what will make her win it again is whether she can make peace with what she is jealous of or not (she seems to hate Chihaya’s team and Arata’s love for teams too and this is because she herself doesn’t have one, she is lonely and she feels abandoned) You might be right… maybe if her grandma talks to her and makes her feel loved and wanted and supported she will realize that she too has her family (and also her new supporters with Kokoro chan on top of them) as her own team. The other storyline though is about Arata.. I dunno, maybe, this is where Taichi will play his role with him because with Taichi back, team Chihayafuru will be reunited and Arata is the one who treasure that team the most among the three, it’s with that team that he got o play Karuta to his heart content, back then he had no pressure, he didn’t have to pretend to be his grandpa and he certainly played and had fun as his own self, so if team Chihayaburu is back, maybe his passion will be too and that will save him.. Though, something is telling me it’s also about his special encounter with Chihaya alone.. it started even the “Team Chihayafuru” for him, if his life till now was a big lie to keep his grandpa alive than his encounter with Chihaya started the only real “experience” for him and that’s so special for him. |

@sweetangie (ใฃหโฃ(ห_ห ) @Avish kun! I'm sorry to know that... I hope you feel a little better now and please take your time and put your comfort first..we will be waiting for you and your irreplaceable comments ^^ @Arazaran, welcome in the club, and thank you very much for your efforts in gathering all the info... it was a long read but really so rich .. though I also think the manga will not end after only 7 chapters ... the penguin with the number 7 on the fan is most probably an addition from BeLove's editorial department wishing someone good luck because the Penguin is the symbol of BeLove and number 7 is a lucky number in Japan so when you cheer someone with this number, you are wishing them good luck so I don't think it's related to the number of remaining chapters... Taichi kun, I'll try to post the history as soon as possible and hopefully, it will be useful (but I have to clarify something: I started taking notes of the use of the cards not very long ago so I don't have every scene in the 1st third of the story) but I made sure to add the ones I remembered & those mentioned in the comic book (means I didn't do a thorough re-read of that part contrary to the rest of the story till now) Also a warning, my history of the SE card doesn't connect events like Araza san's analysis which is great by the way.. |

@Arazaran, haha, yeah torture indeed "^^... I'll do my best and i probably wouldn't be able to do much before new years too (but nah I'll resurrect from the dead if necessary for chap 232 :p and I'll most probably spend every free time I get to analyze your posts -I didn't read the whole post yet *insert sheepish smile here* lol).. So yep, me too, I wish all of you wonderful times with your loved ones :) iNameless chan, take your time and rest well when you need it.... take good care everyone and see you later :) |

Fuck, this only should have been a comment about the little 7. Araza san, please twist every comment's initial idea and make more like this because I loved every word and I agree so much! You've said it all too well and pretty much summarized the way I think Suetsugu sensei thinks.. the editor gave sensei green light to write her story at her own pace and end it whenever she wants because it sells well (at least compared to any other manga BeLove itself is publishing) ..I believe the number of sold copies didn't drop since Taichi's appearance got smaller but sensei knew how to write more special stories and you are right with how she is using Taichi till now ... Hmmm, She spoke in one of her Notes about how she is already ready for the cut of income after the manga ends and how she thinks of other ways to gain money so I think she isn't very afraid of being affected by angering a certain faction of her fans but in the same time she also enjoys writing what fans would love ..or rather she cares to make her fans love what she writes so she will do her best in the way she will write the remaining chapters (also she said in her latest interview that she won't let any character tell her that she was cruel with them or abandoned them which is promising) Though for the number 7, your "Why would" questions make sense indeed but maybe it was added only in Chihayafuru because it's the only manga with a competition? the idea of 6 chapters for the rest of the tournament seems a better theory I guess. Um, I was working on the history of SE, it's long post and I guess I want to edit it a bit and post it later instead of commenting on the analysis above because I also believe that Se is more related to Arata and in not related to Taichi ... but ok, if you guys don't need it very soon, I'll take my time . I wish both of you (and everyone else) too the best in every coming minute and i'll be looking forward to more of what you all think, speculation are very welcome Araza-san (this sounds like Arata and I love it hihi) |

Thank you so much Wataya kun for posting the illustration!! I this it's one of the smartest illustrations sensei drew ... I believe it makes both shipping groups happy or at least expectant... Well Arata fans were already steadily getting their image about the positive end (I know I am! lol) so i believe it's more about getting Taichi fans back before the release of the 46th volume...they are lot of costumers after all... Sensei wrote this question in her comment about this illustration (google tr): "what are the three doing?" and left it unanswered. So what I personally see is the usual relationship of the three and Suetsugu sensei doesn't seem to intend to reveal anything more about where the romance is going through these illustrations. Chihaya is sitting on a railing in a certain place where Sakura blossoms.. The place where we saw sakura in the manga was the way to Fukui but there were no railings so it's not that. But there is a famous place in the city of Bankyo for sakura sight seeing where there are railings so it might be that... the time is the end of the school year maybe, like as if Arata came to visit at the end of the year, he is in his school uniform... Chihaya looks happy and carefree... Taichi is typical Taichi, there is no sense of personal space between him & Chihaya +the fact that he loves being close to her is there and Chihaya doesn't mind like she always didn't mind in the manga before. Arata though.. he might be trying to "climb" on the railing or just stand there and there is a distance between him and his two friends (like always), They look like they are looking all to one direction, like they are going to take a picture? And looks like Chihaya is impatient and wouldn't wait until Arata settles down or fixes his position for the 'shot', so she puts her hand on his head and joins her head with his to remove that distance ^^. I'm so positive I tell you hihi |

Hi everyone, hope you all are fine.. just a quick visit to express my satisfaction with the new chapter.. Araza san, this should be a bit of a proof that there aren't only 7/6 remaining chapters and most probably it's like sensei said in a recent interview, might go up to 50 volumes but not beyond. I finally read the last chapter xd (sorry for those who were waiting for my blabbing about it so I gonna post my impressions, long as usual sorry but at least I could do this I'm very excited about 232 and hopefully the translators can finish the chapter as soon as possible (well after they enjoy themselves ofc, this is a period of happy times after all) - Chiha isn't in Chihaya's match again (reminds me of the theory: it's with Taichi and he will be the one to return it to both Arata & Chihaya) Also I wonder how Arata's less worried state now will change and how he will lose (and why he didn't wear the tasuki? Poor Chihaya didn't wear it herself and he just put it there next to him? XD) Ok that's all, here is the ..review? (might edit it if I spot any mistakes coz I wrote it kinda quickly) WHAT WENT THROUGH MY MIND WHILE I WAS READING CH231 !! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Chihaya looks really surprised. Now it's only her in the frame which might mean that she will be the first to support Arata before the arrival of Yuu .. This reminds me of when in chapter 106, Yuu offered to join Arata's team as a reward for winning the challengers and Arata got angry at her saying that he doesn't need rewards and she should be the one who understands that better than anyone. Yuu might be coming to remind him then of what she understands better than even Chihaya who he seems to cherish more; an idea I can easily compare with Sumire being more understanding of Taichi and the one to stand up to his mother rather than Chihaya who was supposed to be closer to him. I guess this is one of Suetsugu sensei's fortes: giving her side characters memorable presence. .. The ivy plant is here again in this chapter to maintain the image set in the chapter before about how serious Arata's fear is.. (again the tweets by Suetsugu sensei about how Arata's fear is a "Frankenstein-type" comes to my mind) the Ivy symbolizes the prison Arata found himself inside and his inability to think outside of his grandpa's world... how can the loving pillar that supported him in his childhood and gave the failure of a boy he was a place to be & shine? how can such person become now like a curse? is it over-love? or guilt? Arata is afraid of ruining his grandpa's karuta..will he say more soon? The background behind Chihaya changed..now the surprise turned into serious worry and she started sweating.. she is so used to see the calm & collected Arata and again like in many other times, she could only call his name silently... Arata, though trying not to look like it, is very worried to the point he is not trying to put up appearances for Chihaya anymore. if he ruins his karuta, people will realize that Hajime is really dead, it's the end of Hajime Wataya's legend... I"m not sure about the translation, but the English version says so... Looks like Arata was always aware that for people around him, he is not wataya Arata but Hajime Wataya..now if he can't win against Suo (which Hajime could have apparently) people will realize that Hajime is really dead and the one playing is just a fake and maybe, everyone will forget Wataya sensei then? .. Arata still needs to tell us more .. he really is like Suetsugu sensei described him in her tweet for his birthday: "The boy who keeps things to himself" Harada sensei & Hiroshi are still excited about Chihaya's win, Harada specifically because Chihaya is the child he trained all these years..but! I was surprised at Harada sensei's reaction, and happy too.. Arata turned to leave, maybe he even forgot that Chihaya was there, Chihaya looked like she wanted to reach her hand to prevent him from leaving and Harada sensei finally answered me: he still sees Arata as his student! I'm relieved because Arata told us on chapter 114 how much he treasures Harada sensei and the fact that he accepted him as a student. Harada sensei the great teacher is now worried because unlike karuta tips, he doesn't have a suitable thing to say to these two children in front of him one gaining the momentum, one losing it. Harada is really a great teacher, the things he thought about are proof enough, he knows the different aspects he should take care of in his students' state.... I know that Chihaya has many people who are going to do that for her each in their own way and they already arrived, Mizusawa was always a well organized and informed team that could take care of every detail ... what about Arata?I wonder Unlike Harada sensei, Mizusawa members are only worried about Chihaya and she gave them the best reassurance with her performance and the result they have all the right to be over-joyed and Chihaya deserves every bit of this joy's impact on her because i'm sure, their feelings will make her even stronger.. Chihaya's waiting room is just like I imagined it, it's so nice to see everyone's reaction, Chihaya's father more than anyone, now he realizes how great Chihaya really is and can't contain his happiness. "You beat Shinobu chan for the first time!" When Shinobu beat Arata for the first time, she couldn't stop her tears, she cried loudly but Chihaya was different ... it looks like the way she sees Shinobu is really more complicated than how Shinobu saw Arata. Chihaya looks like some realization downed on her, Kana noticed and seeing the background of the last panel, I could imagine that Chihaya's heart skipped a beat, like when you feel afraid? What was worrying in the fact that she beat the Queen? Well .. the image Chihaya sees about how she did that looks worrying to even me. Grabbing the Queen & surprising her, throwing her back desperately and then looked behind to see the girl she wanted to be friends with disappear leaving the fancy kimono of the Queen behind her which seems to have surprised her... What does it mean? Why did the Kimono not disappear too? why did it stay on the wasteland ... And why does it feel like all Chihaya's words about befriending Shinobu and saving her are lost now? "The person I admire the most" Can we not agree that it's karuta related? it was never Arata ...I knew this.. even when she imagined both of them ahead of her on ch220, Arata was behind Shinobu chan, and yet, Chihaya wanted to be friends, wanted to save her, to understand her and to share with her feelings which are more than wanting to be as good as her in karuta or to beat her & take the title from her.. I read in some places that Chihaya's feelings for Arata can't be more than admiration because she sees him as a god and if her relationship with Shinobu and her confession now isn't a proof enough that this is not true, then I don't know what is. Chihaya clearly teaches us that even when she admires something in someone, she still looks at every other part of them and sees them and can build have strong feelings side by side with admiration. And Yep, Chihaya seems to have lost sight of some things too.. now she is somehow scared, she reached a place she didn't before and remembering the 3 wins she must get, she realized that now she has to work to stay there and prevent anyone from going ahead of her ... and it means that she will be alone where she is! it's that scary place from chapter 212: "the more you grid through, the more you advance to reach the place where neither your friends nor anyone else would be able to do anything, you will stand alone!" Kana realized..it might be true that when she plays the most intense matches, people around her can't really do anything for her more than what they did in the past, whet they prepared her with, what they taught her, what they offered her..when in a match, she is the one who should use all that in addition to what has got. But the matches didn't start yet, and these few minutes she has, people can give her some things to boost her energy... like how Kana is considering her need to rest right now as she didn't fall asleep after her previous matches! Mrs Ayase intervenes! I really appreciate it when people does what should be done instead of only worrying and overthinking everything. Chihaya's mother pulled her hair like in a good mother-daughter relationship and tells her to relax and let her joy out! Kana informed her of her daughter's habit of falling asleep and she seems surprised Mrs Ayase saw Chihaya fall asleep next to Chitose after her 1st match but she didn't realize that it was a habit, would that give her a better idea of how tiring karuta really is? and how Chihaya is even greater to be this successful in such a tiring sport? Also now i'm curious how much she still ignores about Chihaya ..like her love for chocolates maybe? ... She freed her daughter's hair and Chihaya seems to instantly feel a change! The Ayase family looks warm.. Chihaya getting a head massage from her mother with reassuring words... Chihaya's father wished Chitose stayed to watch..Chihaya didn't see sad because she didn't stay .. I wonder if Chihaya ever wanted her sister to be proud of her like when she was advertising her sister's success all over the school in her childhood? Chihaya seems at peace with herself and it's calming to know that she doesn't seek her sister's validation... She came like a reliable heroine to deliver her kimono and that can be enough ... right? and maybe it's like the mother says, Chitose might be watching online after she got far from the place.... I believe that the panel with Chitose proves that for Chihaya, the fact the she came for her is really good enough .. she breathed while touching the obi of her kimono ...it's here thanks to Chitose ... While her mother did her hair again, Chihaya closed her hair and relaxed ... I'm thinking whether the choice a butterfly to draw on the obi wasn't intentional.. a butterfly symbolizes re-birth or metamorphosis and transformation. Chihaya transformed to the great girl she is now after she let go of her sister so maybe touching that symbol after remembering Chitose isn't random. Kana & Sumire look relieved & surprised simultaneously ... Chihaya's mother could find the "wrong knot" in Chihaya's state, she untied it and then she tied it again properly. Meanwhile in Suo's waiting room, not as lively as Chihaya's but the relief among the supporters is expressed, though Suo looked annoyed while munching his sweets (I saw you Sudo san, you love sweets too?) The girl who spoke seemed used to Suo being an unmotivated guy who would easily lose on purpose and leave to eat more sweets with no regrets .. and ofc, she was talking alone because Suo wouldn't say a thing before he finished everything there & excused himself for the bathroom. And what he wouldn't say is that he was preoccupied with Yukiko chan and his cousin (was he a cousin?), he looks worried that they would have left already which means he wanted them to stay right? Yukiko looked fine & enjoying her time learning about her chances to be more involved with karuta than merely having a meijin nephew (which she is clearly proud of). She is not young and maybe it's just out of love for Hisashi but she is strong and healthy and she already can imagine herself playing with some family members ... it's such a nice image and seems to bring her much joy so why not? Why not indeed.. why Suo? the background shows strong concern, seeing the Braille karuta cards didn't please him? though the lady promoting it was so friendly and didn't seem to suspect that Suo too might be hereditarily suffering a similar condition.. The black background ... I believe it's used to express a realization usually concerning one's hidden fear or secret. "Everyone is overcoming their own disabilities" is this about him? or about his aunt wanting to overcome her own disability ..would that mean that she is more positive about her condition than him? And it's touching ... not Suo's sad reality I don't "appreciate" sadness. it's Yukioko's braveness and will to adapt and keep moving even at her age... what does it take to be strong & positive like her? I wonder while having both Suo & Taichi in my mind ... Oh. that was harsh, Hisashi. and that was sad, Yukiko... I was saying that Hisashi lacks the ability to adapt ..he looks like he is giving up the future little by little and it scares him to see his aunt try most probably because he loves her so much and he doesn't want her to be disappointed later because he truly believes that it's all for nothing.. And of course, the loving family member wasn't worried about why her nephew is being this cruel with her, she rather saw through his everything and yikes! she threw the bomb so easily (did the lasy next to them hear?) ... Suo loves Yukiko so much ..every lie he spouts say it even clearer... He is worried that she will blame herself for his illness and he uses his father who is rather a stranger to take that away..to protect her. Yukiko isn't happy ..the background says... Annd Shinobu chan is having a hysterical crisis. She tries to tear her grandma's heavy kimono as if she is blaming it now for her loss ... Shinobu won two games in it but now that Chihaya advanced somehow, she needed to do the same but she found herself shackled ...this is a bad knot Shinobu chan is suffering from too.. Shinobu wore the kimono while having lingering affection for her grandmother & wishing for something similar from her but till now, she received none, that's what she feels and now she realizes that she is putting up with her grandma's instruction all for nothing and she can no longer take it... The sweet Kokoro with her genuine love tried her best to help... a touching scene! And Chihaya's tasuki appeared suddenly from Shinobu's bag ..she still kept it because it's special to her..that was the symbol of the relationship she was supposed to have with Chihaya..will it save or curse her even more? Oops, Shinobu's reaction to the suggestion of wearing Chihaya's tasuki was too strong, her watchers were surprised. And shinobu realized how far Chihaya came, last time Shinobu was upset because Chihaya didn't fulfill her promise and went to the school trip instead, now she is upset because she actually came this time .. So Shinobu never consciously knew she needed friends other than the poets of the 100 poems? because her reactions before to Arata's team & Chihaya's school trio suggested otherwise... Now Chihaya for her is a person who took those sweet friends of her away from her.. meanwhile Shinobu's mother tried to help but the words she heard before came back to haunt her .. that must've hurt too much right? And instead of giving up after the pain, I guess love do this because the mother still offered the tasuki, it didn't matter to her if Shinobu keeps the wrong idea that her mother doesn't care or isn't good for anything, all she wanted is for Shinobu to get better... Unfair ..right momo chan? (look at her all shocked while Koishikawa kept recording every second lol) Hearing the word "grandma" got Shinobu's attention, it looked like she didn't believe it but time is almost up for the next match so what will she do? hmmm, I think we should mention Shinobu's mother's change here. Before, someone suggested a tasuki for Shinobu's prestigious kimono and her mother was the one who objected because that wouldn't look good on the fancy attire. On ch1723, and after Shinobu's mother noticed how Shinobu struggled because of her sleeves, when they were on the way home, she apologized to her daughter but Shiobu didn't know what about so she asked and she didn't get an answer... I think, these were small details here and there but they made the story of this awkward but still loving mother..hopefully she can do better in the future. Time is up for Suo too, Yukiko who wasn't treated warmly either didn't give up.. and as Fukasaku sensei said before, that the 100 poems give words to express ourselves.. Out of nowhere, Yukiko chan recited some poems: 43/Ai mite no, 79/Akikaze ni, 52/Akenureba... All three poems share a similar feeling: it's experiencing something for which one would feel alive again & look forward to more of the coming future ... That the love in poem 43 or the moonlight that keeps shedding bright light even through the clouds in poem 79 or also knowing that another night will come where the poet will meet his lover again in poem 52... They all give a feeling that Yukiko chan is trying to make Suo look for that thing that can make him more hopeful of the future.. ... But why did Suo have that habit every night when he just arrived? hopefully, it's not a defense mechanism he devolved where he was living before to protect his mental health? And Yukiko did her best to show Suo that she was fine, she was having fun and the hyakunin Isshu isn't only his because he plays karuta, it's for everyone and it can bring happiness to everyone. Suo looks less worried ... Yukiko says it better I guess.. she wasn't trying to make Suo find his light that can make him excited for what's coming, she was rater talking about herself..it's not late even for someone like her..she still can be happy & excited so Suo shouldn't worry and that he should look better at what's around him.. everything can be alright, while sad realities can't be helped, lot of other things can be a healing reality for those who look closely. Suo tried to teach Taichi this and for him now, it looked like Taichi would have returned these words back to him ... I don't know but it felt again like something was loosened up in Suo's tense mind? and the concept of "knit" comes again, does the whole chapter have the "knot" theme? Now, how will Suo play after this? what will he tie again? Arata! The karuta officials talk about him as "him"? they know that he lacks experience .. do they see "him" then? or are they not interested in seeing something from him which is different from his grandpa's karuta? I don't really get it but Arata looks so determined to keep playing the Hajime role and he believes that he will be fine. His mother looks worried though..well she should right? because instead of resting & eating, Arata spent his 15 minutes break in playing karuta while taking Suo's new placement (in the middle of the field) into consideration. Chiha isn't there, and Se is placed in its usual spot on Arata's formation. Looks like the last thought he had, imagining his grandpa made him emotional? the blush, the sweat drops and his breathing... he didn't rest but he had to leave now, he didn't look eager to go but hmmm? Didn't Suetsugu sensei have the habit of making Chihaya concerned about something then make her suddenly forget about it and shift her focus on something else? It feels unfamiliar to see her do it now.. She waited to check on Arata after she herself relaxed.. how sweet. Arata was surprised and Chihaya blushed a bit ... I think there are many fans who are waiting for big moments to acknowledge the romantic interest they have in each other but in my case, these small details are what makes it continuesly real and persisting... What would Chihaya be excited about? Arata wasn't cool, not even fine, he wasn't like a god, she wasn't embarrassed nor cold.. the blush is simply her trademark when she sees Arata the boy she can see herself as a girl around and he confessed to her, and she is sorting her things before she gives him her answer. Hmmm? Did Arata not expect to see Chihaya there? because he looks so surprised. And I can’t help but wonder if it’s because it’s Chihaya the girl he, for some reason always, ends up separated from somehow before anything begins Or because in general, he is not used to people worrying about him to the point of inquiring after him twice! And.. “You are late, Arata!” did anyone else imagine Chihaya from elementary school? The way she asked was so familiar.. not like she spoke to him back then but to Taichi.. a single phrase but it's full of some familiarity I sense for the first time from Chihaya to Arata. And of course, Arata was ready to pretend again that everything is alright but Chihaya, a “sparkly Chihaya” surprised him! don’t say “I’m fine” when you are not! She is telling him that she won’t be asking him this question that will push him to hide his feelings and pretend… The Shojo motif in the air should describe better how Chihaya looked to Arata at that moment! Like an angel from a dream lol. No seriously, Chihaya said a very reassuring thing, something that can actually affect Arata who seems always ready to reject what others say because he already prepared something for himself … but it’s never something like this… it’s never a chance to “Not lie” about it… I might be stuck in this moment but it’s because it really is huge! For someone like Arata and also Taichi (by consequence, Me!) For everyone who is burdened by expectations, Chihaya’s words are a blessing and i’m touched at a personal level! Arata nodded his head while still blushing, he really is touched. What was he about to do or say before they are called to proceed to their seats for the 4th match? Chihaya was still looking at him then, and her “cheering him up” didn’t seem over yet.. Through her previous words, she told him not to pretend to be fine when he is not, but now she is DOING something that might make him feel better and I was surprised but it was really not unexpected because Suetsugu sensei used to exploit similar ideas with different characters. Arata felt jealousy for the first time in his life -as sensei said- when he saw Chihaya & Taichi wearing their tasuki while smiling at each other in Yoshinokai, Arata saw how special the closeness between his two friends really was through that atmosphere created by just wearing those tasuki.. and again when Taichi was back after his match with Chihaya, Arata saw her return the tasuki to him -which she was wearing in all her matches- like a thread bonding them so specially (ok, it was originally a headband as far as I remember but if Chihaya wore hers as a tasuki in the Queen tournament, then Taichi’s can be considered a Tasuki too right?) Also, Chihaya seemed to have come the closest to Shinobu as an ally when she offered her a tasuki she made with her Daddy Bear towel. Offering a tasuki in Chihayafuru is certainly a symbol of special affection and now Arata is receiving one from Chihaya with her name on it too… Chihaya wanted him to feel what she felt when her mom undid her hair and the panel with only Arata’s eyes say how closely he was watching.. Chihaya was calling him to untie his “knot” too and then tie it again properly. Page 33 is sweet, the panel where Chihaya was had again the Shoujo effect while Arata’s didn’t which means that Chihaya’s panel was drawn from Arata’s perspective, she is really cool and beautiful. I came across an old post saying that Arata idolized Chihaya and loved her for only her good parts but I believe that’s what we love about those we love and after loving them, we find ourselves more than ready to live for every other part of them and Arata proved that a despaired lost Chihaya doesn’t put him off! He rather fought his own awkwardness to cheer her up and help her be back to her normal self... and what a waste if what's special about you isn't seen as special and appreciated more than anything else. Every person has something so beautiful about them and that’s what we fall for, we all are flawed and even if we find the flaws themselves beautiful, we love them because we see them as beautiful, and Arata right now sees Chihaya as VERY beautiful! And by the way, that's the same "beautiful" that gave Arata the courage to confess back on ch114. Chihaya wasn't trying to support him back then or to push his back, she was just talking about herself and how she fights and she looked ready for anything, determined and passionate and that's "beautiful" ... This reminds me again of Arata's unfinished sentence: "For me to play as myself for myself I....." & "What I lack is "experiences ..etc AND LOVE (x3)". Looks like Shinobu chan accepted the tasuki in addition to her mother’s offer to tie it for her… both gestures came from her mom, i’m glad she knew and she accepted it, I appreciate the housekeeper’s efforts to help Shinobu’s mom and to let Shinobu know that she is not unlucky for having an unloving mother. Shinobu’s outfit is super cute but that’s not what matters now, Suetsugu seems to want to still keep what Shinobu’s mother said about what she wanted to do when spring come as a secret. That was one moment she proved to her daughter that what the housekeeper said was true, I bet she told her that she loves her so much. “if they don’t say anything I won’t be able to know” and by consequence I won’t be able to do what’s right. Yeah.. This reminds me of when Chihaya asked Taichi when the next match he mentioned on his present will be, she told him that she is not smart and if he doesn’t say, she won’t know… it happens a lot in reality and in Chihayafuru Chihaya was blamed horribly in the fandom because of it: it seemed that everyone wanted her to transform into the smart one to be able to understand the silent one. Should we then blame Shinobu and tell her to make the effort to read what’s in her mother’s head? (Transforming into a smarter person) VS (talking about things clearly like healthy people).. who should grow up? I certainly don’t blame Shinobu nor Chihaya. And Shinobu was certainly ready to do better if she only knew! And it’s time, for the next game .. Here they are, they players ready for another battle. Shinobu looks dignified as always, Arata seemed to be about to wear the tasuki? he looked way calmer. Suo and Chihaya too.. they all look ready. Here it goes again, I really have a soft spot for Harada sensei paying Arata any attention... I think I respect Harada soo much and I want Arata to be blessed by being cared for by someone like him. And his words are spot on again. I believe everyone know how hard it is to be desperate for two consecutive wins or in other words, to protect oneself from a third loss but do people realize how hard it also is when your strategy is to give it your all since the beginning and to aim for the three wins consecutively and when you feell like you gave everything you are hit in the middle and you find yourself lost as to what you should do now.. I know that this can be avoided by a better strategy and goal from the start but this comes with a good teacher ...um who is Arata's teacher? who was supposed to give him instructions, point out his mistakes, guide him to better moves etc? like Harada sensei did with Chihaya? Arata seems to have been carrying his grandpa as his teacher and I suppose he would have pushed him to take all the three wins too. And well, Arata is not the only one who wasn't prepared right? Shinobu too didn't have a guide, neither did Suo but somehow they don't feel like they needed any. Arata on the other hand does, at least to me and I wonder if it's not because he has shown many times his appreciation of practice with guidance and he came to Shiranami to practice and learn so unlike Shinobu & Suo the geniuses who can manage on their own, Arata was written as a character who learns from others. And the last sentence seems like a characteristic of Suetsugu sensei's writing: when you think that you'll win, you'll lose (lol) Oh. it's not Kana chan this time (makes sense I guess, she & Sumere where with Chihaya in her waiting room) so this time it's Nishida & Desktomu, I appreciate these two boys a lot (and their smiles) and such a neat page! The most satisfying thing on it is Chihaya's content thumbs-up. sweet! Some other deep words from Harada sensei... I am contemplating them... Does winning really depends on such easily named things like how worthy you think yourself is of people's support & riding the momentum? I don't necessarily agree as I know many who fought all people for what they believed was right and they won because they believed they should and they worked enough to get the win but I guess Harada sensei still has a point.. As we already saw, when any of these 4 players feel alone, abandoned, somehow left to themselves, they feel weak and it becomes easier to defeat them so for them to feel stronger they need to have those they treasure at least to be there for them and we get people's support usually when we work for it, when we "deserve" it so yes.. And now these words, who among these players feel worthy or unworthy of the support of people around them? I see 6 panels with people who support Chihaya, 3 panels with people who support Shinobu, 2 panels with Suo's supporters and 2 (3 if I count Harada sensei again) for Arata. Riding the momentum is one the things that come from the efforts you put to the game too so maybe, it really comes to first sentence? And everyone already was given the blessing of being here at Omi Jingu...The 4 of them got the ticket to be here, it's on what they will do here now.. The author used maple leaves again after so long right? Why though? Is it for the passion the players should feel in these moments and with that blessing? or because they symbolize the time that passes all the way from when they started playing to when they acquired the dream to come here and finally to actually coming here? |

again, you made good points (which I also can't answer now but which I read all) and for the poems as I said, I can read a bit of Japanese so I can recognize the cards' kimariji and then I check which poem it is by searching on this website. (Ok, there are cards I learned which I don't need to check but all the others I can't without referring to the material ^^" For the images, you should use this code [img]PUT THE DIRECT LINK TO THE IMAGE AND IT SHOULD END WITH THE EXTENTION OF THE IMAGE + MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO SPACES IN THE LINK[/img] Here are some examples of direct links to some images (I took the ones from iNameless's post about Arata's popularity with ladies: https://i.imgur.com/86gXUeW.png ----> so to show it I must write: [img]https://i.imgur.com/86gXUeW.png[/img] https://i.imgur.com/h9PfIJD.png --------------------> [img]https://i.imgur.com/h9PfIJD.png[/img] Also if you have an image on your device you should first host it online (most people use Imgur.com) and this website will give you a direct like like those above or even the BBcode directly. |

Taichi, thank you very much for your help and wishes! I could sleep like a rock the last few days and I feel really really good, but it’s just super boring right now. Just today and tomorrow to go for quarantine and back into the office on the 11th. Don’t worry, you don’t have to answer on everything I write. I can wait for what you want to write (except for new chapters, how did you guys managed it for so many years? haha). We will most likely disagree on a few things, but this in here, is so much fun and I am sad I didn’t find it earlier. Even if we have just one of our many predictions come true in the end, as a collective it would be awesome and we could be proud of that. So with that, I wish you too good luck with your work and I hope it will be less in the near future. Nameless, again thank you so much for doing the SE and girls write up. Sorry for writing just now. Short correction, the boys aren’t Murao’s brothers. They are Hiro and Shin Matsubayashi, the duo of Arata’s highschool team. I think Murao’s brothers are called Yuta and Kenta. They are still too young to be in highschool, I think. Please, please wait until the translations come out but I just want to write it to you now. In 232, SE is besides SU on Chihaya’s side (If my drawing japanese signs in google translator skillzzz didn’t dissappoint me :D). Little later it’s in the practice match vs Sudo on Suo‘ side, on his left side back row on the far left, beside OKU. I feel bad for asking – I really hope you don’t mind, since you put so much effort in it, but how exactly do you think it’s related to Arata? Chihaya’s SE take right now has a really big build up for a big moment and I really can’t see that for Chihaya x Arata. The only thing what I think can happen for Arata is an SE take in the 5th game, but I doubt that since CHIHA is the card for them and like I said I can’t see Suetsugu using the 2 cards for one. I personally couldn’t see an SE use in the romantic way in the whole manga. Not when Kana referenced it between Chihaya’s and Arata’s situation, not when Chihaya used SE for Taichi before the nationals and not when Arata said that the 3rd year match connects to the first match they played. Also you didn’t put my 2 biggest reasons for SE x Mizusawa in your history, where in Chapter 225 Taichi takes SE in his Mizusawa gear in his prayer for Chihaya and in 226 the second time where Arata used the phrase ‚I know her first card‘. This to be honest was just my interpretation of scene where he reunited Taichi with Mizusawa and gave SE to Taichi and Mizusawa, but I would love to hear you interpretation on that. Shinobu is a whole different beast, so let’s just focus Chihaya’s take. Somehow since I’m here the SE topic climbed to my 1st place of my what-I-want-to-know-list, so thank you guys for that. Like I said, I hope you don‘t mind it, since I know most of the time, when it comes to analyises and theories, my writing sounds pretty dickish and cold. :) But don’t worry, my shipper heart will shine soon enough again. :D ______________ I really wished for more time in Fukui, more with Yuu. She is definitely the person who has the purest soul in Chihayafuru (btw I personally really dislike that in the Spin-off, she is described as jealous, what is not her character). You can see what impact Arata has on her, when a single thank you can bring her to tears or when he said that she should know best that he doesn’t want pity rewards for playing Karuta and she starts smiling and blushing. She was his rock in his darkest times and understands him, but he doesn’t have love feelings for her and never will have this kind of feelings So I don’t understand some Taichi fans who say, now that she is coming to OmiJingu, Arata will turn his back on Chihaya and will run into Yuu’s arms or otherway around that Chihaya will suddenly turn her back on Arata to run towards Taichi.(There are we again with using something from distracting the readers from ChihayaxArata, most suprising thing, it works on many people) That is just bullshit. It’s kinda funny tho, most Taichi fans (I also think some Arata fans forgot that he said that he wants to hold Chihaya and want to be person who’s okay to embrace her, just one night before tournament) at that point everyone should have realized that his feelings for her a real and a rejection now will hurt just as much for Arata as back then for Taichi. The two things I hope that won’t happen are that Taichi and Kana giving somekind of okay that she can go to Arata and if Chihaya’s kind of confession happens in the break between game 4 and 5, that Yuu won’t hear it. Because even tho she is the kindest and most understanding, I think it’s kinda fair to say that she has more feelings for Arata than she can say. Sorry, this was my shipper heart and my love for Yuu as a character. |

This is more of a standalone post, but I hope you guys don’t mind a little bit of me talking about the poems. First off, I prepared pictures with all cards, numbers and names. Sadly I messed up CHIHA and probably some poem names, but I hope everything is readable. Also I found something on pinterest.com/ritaroartist that is really nice to have, so if you have a pinterest account and download these pictures, leave a follow there. HYAKUNIN ISSHU #1-100 CARDS/NAMES/NUMBERS (I did this, maybe you see the easteregg I put in there) -> https://imgur.com/a/hHAv9Dh – I find reading sideways much faster, so I can find cards faster. This is for everyone who is as hopeless as me with japanese and want to know cards, maybe it’s even useful to you Taichi and Nameless :) _____ This are all poems with cards, numbers, english/romaji/japanese and absolute beautiful art on top of that, again pinterest.com/ritaroartist is the source. I looked up and the translations are 1:1 the ones from the University of Virginia. I wished the poems would be parted in part 1 and 2 and I had to blackout the Tago cards, because the artist used the OKU cards, but overall this is so great. I put the cards in 4 different folders, so if you download them, you won’t be confused. If you downloaded them on your PC please put them all in one folder with name and number, they should order themselves. HYAKUNIN ISSHU #1-30 -> https://imgur.com/a/o0V2qZH HYAKUNIN ISSHU #31-50 -> https://imgur.com/a/1ObZVoy HYAKUNIN ISSHU #51-80 -> https://imgur.com/a/VyIsKRb HYAKUNIN ISSHU #81-100 -> https://imgur.com/a/dyZIBH1 ______________________________ I was really suprised when I found out that there 2 WATA NO HARA cards (#11, #76), 2 KIMI GA TAME cards (#15, #50) and 2 ASABORAKE cards (#31, #64), but except from them nothing doubles itself. Since there only 10 cards with 15 signs (#20, #22, #23, #28, #49, #73, #77, #79, #80, #99) and one with 16 signs (#21), they are rather easy to find, when the full card is shown. Also so many goddamn cards starts with an A, it’s unsettling. CHIGIRI #75 and CHIGIRIKI #42 are two different cards, which was a suprise – hahah. But now to the poems itself, since I am in quarantine I had rather more time, so I looked at them with care. The autumn, water and moon are really often used in old poetry, huh? But this is not a complain, since you can do so much and have more than 1 meaning with just with these topics. In the HYAKUNIN ISSHU there are so many great poems, but I have to say, the most feelings when I read them are there, when I read the sad/grief/lonely ones. In the end I put 2 more poem besides ARAZARAN #56, which I could immediatly connect with something. ___________________________________ To put this new interest in action, I’ve decided to look at the cards which were read in chapter 232 and if they wanted to tell a story somehow, to a suprise I think they were. I can’t translate the story, with the poems 1:1, but I try do the best I can. Luckily we don’t need translations for that, but let’s look at the poems. This is from Arata’s and Chihaya’s POV, so I only conncet thing with that – positive and negative. The first card which was read, which Suo and Chihaya took was MEGURI #57 Meeting on the path: But I cannot clearly know If it was he, Because the midnight moon In a cloud had disappeared. Since this is a more negative one, I translate this to -> Chihaya’s moon (Arata), slowly fades away in a dark layer and she doesn’t know if it’s truely the Arata she knows. ____ The second which got read is TSUKI #23 which Suo and Chihaya take As I view the moon, Many things come into my mind, And my thoughts are sad; Yet it's not for me alone, That the autumn time has come. So again a rather negative one, I translate it to this -> since the moon (normal Arata) is dissappearing for her, when she looks at it, she feels sad. The autumn time has come (the dark layer for Arata), but no matter what she will share his pain and, even if he doesn’t know, that she is there for him _____ The 3rd card which got read is OGURA #26, only Chihaya is shown to take the card If the maple leaves On Ogura mountain Could only have hearts, They would longingly await The emperor's pilgrimage. Since it was only shown for Chihaya, I connect the card with her, Mizusawa and Taichi. Taichi right now is on somekind of pilgrimage towads OmiJingu, he cleaned his head and heart, to come fully support her again, even if it’s not romantic _____ Shinobu also takes card, it’s MORO #66, it was not shown, but her friends said it On a mountain slope, Solitary, uncompanioned, Stands a cherry tree. Except for you, lonely friend, To others I am unknown. I don’t know what to make out of this tbh, maybe except the little gods, who came back a little before, there is no one who understands her completely. _____ Now the grand finale of the chapter, only Suo takes SABISHISA #70 on the last page In my loneliness I leave my little hut. When I look around, Everywhere it is the same: One lone, darkening autumn eve Like I said a week ago, it’s a really negative one, I translate it to -> The Autumn (Arata’s dark layer) is still there for him, like in the break between game 3 and 4. Even when Chihaya understands him, he still feels the same and it will only get worse for him and with that it will get worse for Chihaya too. ____________________________________________ Like I said earlier, I wanted to add two more poems, which I think are great and I could connect with something but let’s start with my poem and I think no poem comes close to it, ARAZARAN #56. Soon my life will close. When I am beyond this world And have forgotten it, Let me remember only this: One final meeting with you. The feeling Arata has must felt, when he gets the news that his Grandpa died, who was on under his care, are probably undescribeable to people who didn’t go through such an situation. His absence in Karuta and depression followed logically. I think if he could he would like one more meeting in person to say an real goodbye to the centerpiece of his universe. The second poem, is too for Arata and his Grandpa. This poem is more about the legacy, what has been and how it will look in the future for Arata. The poem is TAKI #55. Though the waterfall Ceased its flowing long ago, And its sound is stilled, Yet, in name it ever flows, And in fame may yet be heard. Even tho his Grandpa stopped playing competitive Karuta a long time ago and he died, the name Wataya i still big in the Karuta community. This little teenager has to carry it in the future but it’s certainly not at the peak. Maybe even later in life when has multiple Meijin titles, he has a certain someone by his side *cough* Chihaya Wataya *cough* (sorry my shipper heart), the name Wataya will dominate the Karuta world again. But the last poem suprised me the most, in how much I can I connect it to Chihayafuru as a whole and it’s ending. The poem is KORE #10. Truly, this is where Travelers who go or come Over parting ways-- Friends or strangers--all must meet: The gate of "Meeting Hill." Once it really ends, all people Suetsugu wrote with her heart will be all around Japan or maybe even in other countries. New friendships will happen and people will find the person, they want to spend the rest of life with. But no matter what old friends, new friends, family and strangers will come every year once a year to a special place to watch what everyone connects. They will come to OmiJingu, their Meeting Hill. |

Such fun to read comment, I really enjoyed reading (especially the second about the poems) and ofc I enjoyed it because I believe you are now fully recovered and well ^^ congratulations on beating the stupid virus who refuses to leave *upset face* ... The cute cards from pinterest, I saw them before, I also downloaded them and kept looking at them until I found other old illustrations draw specifically for the poems which I fell in love with (I used the one for poem 77 in my post about SE) The cards you collected, hihi, I did the same too.. though I couldn't find the cards I wished to use in my collection so I screen-shotted -if I may say- the cards from the karuta app (I hope this isn't illegal XD) Ok, so I'm so grateful for the correction and you are perfectly right Shun & Hiro aren't Murao's brothers how did I even make this mistake? lol And also lol for your writing skilzzzz of Japanese script XD I didn't look at the poems yet in 232 (was Chihaya's formation shown clearly though?) AS for Se On ch225, the remembered moment is the same from ch79 when Chihaya took Se with her middle finger and straight to the corner of the card and that was a moment where Chihaya succeeded in advancing another step towards the Queen she always wanted to beat (because in the revious chapters she was training so hard to arrive there) So Taichi in 225 remembered moments marking Chihaya's major steps towards her dream and that's why I don't think it has any relation with Taichi or Mizusawa so if we remove this evidence from your analysis we will only have the scene from 226? In here we are reminded again: Se is a card telling Arata's feelings. I can see this clearly every time Se & Arata are put together in a scene but maybe you still are right... maybe at that moment Arata realized that the girl who took se from him grew to become her strongest for the sake of her team and he decided to give her a push using this idea but it still was used to express Arata's feelings. and why it's about ArataxChihaya... actually, I think that Se has different messages and the one about Taichi is one of them but I believe it's over now. I mean, I believe that Se won't be used ceremoniously at least for Chihaya's reunion with him or with him & Mizusawa. Se takes a major importance when it's Arata (in the sense that it describes feelings, wish to connect again, missing, wanting to reach someone etc) and it takes the other major role related to its history and background when it's Shinobu. Arata got attached more than necessary since his match with CHihaya, back then he realized that she is not that girl from the room that he took for granted, that he will always meet and play with as long as the room is there but he learnt that she left and he kind of lost her. since then he decided to "let go" in order to get what he wants again.. Arata wanted the trio actually but I didn't see any inclusion of Taichi yet in his special care for SE. Se was used to describe Chihaya's longing for Arata before but since Taichi's confession she started to neglect him and he felt it so he did his best to get Se back from her... we discussed this before and we agreed that it might mean that the longing is now in Arata's side, Se describes that longing until Chihaya gives him the ultimate reassurance.. um.. notice that I don't use the word romance or love much because I really don't think it's about intense deep apparent love yet..it's rather about bonding, preparing the two of them for the future love.. I do believe that both have feelings for each other but they are walking towards "meeting" first before loving the mutual love of Chiha! I know that this sounds vague so maybe i'll try to be more precise in another comment later? ... maybe? For now I wrote enough I guess and I still want to add some things, "Meguriaite" is a rivalry symbol and it was used many times in Chihaya vs Shinobu's matches and Arata vs Shinobu's too, now also in Arata vs Suo's. it's most likely not about the meaning of the poem but about the poet herself who was known for her excellence & rivalry I enjoyed reading everything you wrote about the poems and I'm glad to see someone else seeing more than what's actually there thanks to these poems.. you are now able to see more worlds and read more stories than normal readers and that's just amazing. I prefer not to comment on 2323's poems yet but for 10, I just wanted to add that "Meeting Hill" is actually a translation of Osaka hill and that's a known place where people do meet yes, lovers mainly so I don't know how much Omi Jingu can be a good fit for this meaning but you certainly are seeing a beautiful image thanks to the poem ^^ Lastly, please don't apologize for anything again because I really like to discuss these things so express yourelf as much as you want and ask and comment on whatever you want (like even the main reason @Avish kun is so important here is that he doubts lot of things and objects and all LOL , i'm just joking but I mean some of it, I really like it when I get more perspectives, makes me see from more angles. ----------------------------------------------------- Also what do you think about Senseis last tweet about the end of Chihayafuru? she seemed very relaxed and like she is working with no sight of the end in the near future? |

Nameless-chan, I absolutely adore Suetsugu for that tweet. Like I wrote to Taichi-kun, it means we can experience more new chapters on here and talk about it. So yeah really really happy about it. That means she won’t rush anything in the Queen/Meijin matches, but I still doubt that she will go far beyond the right now. Maybe a few last tournament chapters, the day after the Meijin/Queen matches (I don’t know the cup) where Arata and Chihaya have their rematch, where both take CHIHA at the same time, but this time it’s in Arata’s field? Like the last game they played as kids where both took CHIHA but it was in Chihaya’s field. But I don’t know maybe we will get more fluff and their rematch is just teased. Anyway I am glad it will keep going strong at least for this year, I hope. I still wonder why she is still saying it from time to time. But like the majority I don’t want it to know, maybe 1 or 2 chapters before. ____ Ahh, what I wanted to say already. Ehhmm, I still can’t believe how dumb I was that I thought 232 would be an complete chapter about Arata hahaha. After reading slowly through the matches again, every Reader got an powerful NANIWAZU NI intro, btw they were absolutely beautiful (I hope it will get animated). Serizawa with his mechanical voice, Yamashiro with cherry blossoms and Kuzuryuu with plum blossoms. So yeah there wouldn’t be much time for Arata. I also just discovered that Yamashiro is reading the 4th game because she has an appointment, so she could’t read an possible 5th match. That’s why Serizawa is reading CHIHA in the first chapter of Chihayafuru. ____ Also something about CH227, it is really an masterpiece and the best chapter in the Queen/Meijin matches for me. It’s starts with Arata’s speech for Chihaya, we have more young Yamashiro (haha), we get the tragic but beautiful backstory for Kuzuryuu, Chihaya’s uprising and Arata’s downfall starting here and for that I am absolutely embarressed for not seeing it earlier, ARAZARAN connects Kuzuryuu and her dead husband. She sees him in the crowd with the readers card and the poem is written besides him. While reading the chapter a few months back I think, I thought that – Ohhh, what a cute message to describe the connection between them two, but I think the translators didn’t do a good job translating it- without knowing that it was the ARAZARAN poem and it was meant like that. So yeah, but I still have hope on somekind connection to Arata and his Grandpa, because the first card that got read after Arata’s dad told him the news, that Grandpa got sick, was ARAZARAN (I think it was around CH5 or CH6). __________ Ohh, about KORE #10, damn your absolutely right. I just looked at the other translation and not at Mostow’s. Thank you for that. I still have much to learn about the poems and backgrounds of them. But like you said a litte imagination is never wrong :p ____ About MEGURI #57 use, I don’t know much of the previous matches before right now, so I just looked carefully again over the Queen/Meijin matches. In the first game (CH218 P6) -> It’s the first card that got read on an double page, Suo and Shinobu are taking. In the second game (CH225 P35) -> The last card for the Queen’s match, Chihaya loses it and the match with it. In the third game it wasn’t read or shown, but maybe some of you seen it. In the fourth game in 232 -> It’s again the first card that got read. But this time it’s Chihaya and Suo who are taking it on an double page. So yeah I believe you that it’s for the rivaly between Chihaya and Shinobu, but for Arata and Suo? Not so much. For that he would have taken it earlier or atleast shown some resistance late in 3rd game or now for the start in 4th game. But he is weak or Suo is just to strong, probably both. This is not a rivaly right now, he will receive an absolute beating. He couldn’t even raise his hand right and Suo took SABI #70 immediately, he took not one card, even after doing practice moves before and during the match and channeling everything he has left of Grandpa Juice?? hahah. In the 5th game when he has his chihayaburu state, then he will take it, if it will be read. __________ My answer for your great SE answer. You used one particular sentence - ‚it's rather about bonding, preparing the two of them for the future love.. I do believe that both have feelings for each other but they are walking towards "meeting" first before loving the mutual love of Chiha!‘ - I agree with that so much, I never had the oppurtunity to write what I thought about Arata‘s and Chihaya‘s big moment and their breakthrough, but thank you giving me this words. I can finally write it. But most of it is just what my heart wants and my head thinks with all the information we have, so yeah most of it, is again, predicting. If you count the BeLove cover and the normal cover as pages. It’s on page 9 where Shinobu says something about the cards. Top right corner is the SE card. I can’t write japanese, so that’s why have to use google translator drawing to get something out of it hahahaha :D It’s said something like -SE- and -SU- are on Chihaya’s battlefield. So yeah please wait until translations, I am really not sure. I just really wanted to write it to you. :P Sadly, while the whole field was shown, Suetsugu draw it the way that you can’t see much on page 10. But now first an really really really big thank you. Thank you for explaining me your standpoint on the SE topic. I absolutely agree with you, that it has more meanings than one or just one purpose, for different people. But that’s the thing, we know Arata’s standpoint on it, it’s the card he connects to her and like you said it has a big meaning to him. We know Shinobu, the relationship with the cards, her family (mainly Mom and Grandmom) and Sutoku. But what does Chihaya feel about the card right now in this moment? Does she feel it’s for Arata and her? I think she knows that he won’t leave her and she won’t leave him after all the jealousy and their first heartful touch. (I really put something big on it I know, but they are teenagers who never really had something like this moment, I hope you all agree with me here.) The side story -> with getting closer to each other, learning something about eachother: That’s why I really hope that Arata’s 4th game is an blowout (but really all things pointing at it right now tbh) and Chihaya is the one who is building him up. She needs one more matureing step and show that she can support Arata, like he did with her in the break between game 2 and 3. Him carrying her ass in has more meaning than the speech to me. He let the cards drop for Chihaya. He put Chihaya first. He said that he really don’t know her weight that she carried, because he wasn’t there. He still could support her with his whole heart and he was the reason she could play her best. BTW, fuck these people who say, she won because of Taichi. I don’t understand this kind of readers, who will say anything without reason to put their ship on top. That’s why I hope that Suetsugu won’t neglect Arata’s feelings towards his Grandpa in the 4th game, let him cry, let Chihaya cry. Just show his feelings that Chihaya can’t ignore. Show her that he is just a boy. Show her that Arata never wanted love through Karuta or the cards, just her human affection for him, like he said in CH173 ‚Yeah Karuta is fun and cool, but please tell me what you feel about me.‘ Let him finally open up what his feelings are and what he thinks, let Chihaya too say, that she doesn’t know much about him outside of Karuta, but can still be the one, who is his rock in shit times. That she wants to know more about him. For me the handhold is somekind of rope, which Chihaya is holding herself on right now. She pretty much knows right now, that she is really excited to see Arata more often, when he comes to Tokyo, with romantic feelings and not Taichi. Just let them have this one important moment for their relationship, where readers say ‚YES SHE GREW UP, SHE PUT SOMEONE BEFORE KARUTA‘, that is why I said her kind of confession (in the start for the climax) will be included in giving Arata his new chihayaburu state, which btw Chihaya took from him in her match. I don’t know how many of you still remember it, but in CH154 she remembers him as childhoodroom chihayaburu. Right before the nationals, where he lost his this form and started the one time use of the team. But anyway, please don’t understand me wrong. She will not say ‚I love you‘ to him. More like she is really excited that he comes to Tokyo for playing Karuta together. Her kind of confession, which when she says it, both will understand as what she really means. I see this moment as their SE moment, which doesn’t need the card, just words and being close together - being united. She will be his rock, she wants to know more about him, she will be there for him. The thing what he always wanted, to be reunited with her and with that giving him and her CHIHA. I already explained why CHIHA can’t and won’t be a trio thing. Okay this was longer than I wanted and to much of what my head and heart want. Also I thought about Sutoku little more, maybe since he is behind Chihaya, he joined forces with Mizusawa? Let me explain since only Shinobu can see him, maybe her little ones will leave her again, when the OG Mizusawa’s entering the room with Sutoku behind them (this will be moment the 2nd verse of SE is written). Shinobu losing focus and losing the game and with that her Grandma has her big entrance before game 5, hopefully with a new kimono. But I also think like all of you, Shinobu will give Chihaya her the Snowmaru Tasuki back, since in the first chapter she wears one. Back to topic (short off-topic was a good joke, right? hahah) We don’t know how Chihaya feels about the SE card or to whom she connects it right now in the Queen matches. It has an really big build up right now and I really can’t see her take being for Arata. For the 4th game I already told why it’s rather unlikely that he takes it here and for another reason, I looked at the cards for game 4 and 1 card with 15 letters was already taken and Arata has 2 more on his left side. That would be already 3/11. It seems rather unlikely that he or Suo has SE on the field. But of course we didn’t see the whole playfield yet and Suetusugu could have hidden it. But Arata’s SE take for her in the 5th game? This is definetely a possibillity. He didn’t take it once too. But like you and I think, SE can have more than one purpose for more than person. I really hope you can understand where I come from. But sadly all we can do is wait and see what the future holds, but thinking and talking about it is insanely fun. _________ I thought also a little about CHIHA. I watched a little bit of Yoshino tournament again on Crunchyroll. Do you guys still remember the moment where Inokuma’s and Chihaya’s CHIHA cards collide? Arata is playing right in front of Chihaya, but the manga and the anime doesn’t want to show it, that he takes it. We can everyone see everyone in the room except Arata and his enemy. Why did Suetsugu written or drawn it like this? Does she really want the first highschool shown CHIHA take in the 5th game so much? Also the more you read and understand the story, while I don’t have a creative writing degree or never ever visited a storytelling/writing workshop, it’s as clear as ever that Chihaya and Arata are the couple. But it’s also as clear to me that Arata is gonna lose against Suo and Chihaya is going to win. If Suetsugu would have intended Arata to win, she would have giving his wins more power behind them, like Chihaya’s defeats in game 1 and game 2. Also his really small character flaw (development) where he always gets pissed off after losing something important, the loss against Taichi almost showed that he openly smiled, but it didn’t show it. I think this will also play a role for being himself. Maybe after the loss he smiles to Suo because he knows he gave his everything, but after that he will cry again, but not BITTER TEARS rather STRONG TEARS (HAHA). Damn it really seems like that I want Arata to have a really shitty day, except the Chihaya part of course. Anyway I am fine with everything as long as Arata gets his time to shine too and the journey to the 5th game’s endgame is good. But the most important thing is that we have fun with thinking/talking and predicting things. |

about the remaining chapters, personally, i’d love to know already how many remaining chapters there is, all the remaining ones not until only few remain lol The readers, yes, sensei likes to write about them but I guess it’s just natural, Karuta starts with them, they open the door of the beautiful world of Karuta to the players… Kuzuryu’s story was really nice though I don’t think it’s better than lot of other ones.. Harada sensei’s moment with his wife who told him she never wanted the mejin title but only his smile for example was for me as touching as Kuzuryu’s… I mean, they are all beautiful in their own ways and for their own details. and yep Serizawa is the one who will read Chiha, we already know that all players play equally when he reads (unlike when Chihaya & Suo got a boost thanks to Kuzuryu’s reading) and honestly, i’m thankful for that, I don’t want to watch a match and then to think that it didn’t really reflect the real strength of the players because if they pay another match after everyone gets used to the reader’s rhythm, things will probably be way different. And also, sensei loves to write about the things she experiences so we can expect to read more of unrelated stories especially when she writes one of her notes… I noticed that some of them had a clear relation with the content of some recent chapters like Chitose’s message: “You’ll start to work for yourself when you feel that it’s not enough, what you are focusing on right now doesn’t take you anywhere or isn’t achieving anything for you etc” There is also the last chapter which seems to be about “if you don’t look at it, you won’t see it” something about having to listen to your inner feelings and the hidden thoughts and feelings of other to know them or something and Sensei wrote about something like that in her notes very recently. -------------- You really love Araza ^^. I wondered why I didn’t choose it myself and then I realized that you actually mentioned the reason before, that you loved more the poems expressing mainly sadness, longing and so on while in my case, I always preferred the positive ones where you’d feel some resolve or hope so 55 is also one of my favorites. And definitely! reading the poems while they are read only makes the scenes richer and more beautiful! I also do that all the time hihi ----- “he will receive an absolute beating” this is savage lol but you are right. Though when I said 57 is about the rivalry I didn’t mean real rivals but they are opponents fighting in an important tournament, Murasaki Shikibu was known to be competitive too and if you remember, before the Meijin/Queen tournament starts, the players are asked to pick a card, on the girls' side poem 57 and Sei shonagon’s poem 62 are used (Murasaki hated Sei So they are kind of opponents .) Again for 232's poems i prefer to wait and read the whole thing. Also for the second part of you comment I'm sorry to say this but i'll let it for later, now I really should go ...thank you for the nice tile I spent reading your comments, I really like them! |

I watched a bit and it was so fun.. fans from all over the world made the session lively and I bet sensei was glad for it and it made me glad too.. it's like I was working hard with her and people are showing their appreciation and it's nice ^^ (there were some fans who couldn't control themselves and commented with "Taichi is best boy" to which I rolled my eyes ..really, they complained a lot because Arata is bad due to him being off screen most of the time and when it's his turn to be written they won't let it unfold peacefully ...) Anyway, I found sensei's message through this cover (is it a cover?) very interesting. So sensei sees Arata as someone who isn't focusing enough on himself and she wants that to change..it's like even the karuta he played till now was for his grandpa and not for himself and sensei sees it a selfless thing of him but wants him to be a bit egoist and strive for his own desires... I see Arata crushing the daffodils in one hand while holding some other ones tenderly in the other hand, is it telling that he is struggling between the two thought? to remain faithful to his grandpa or to to let go and act for his own wishes? |

Do you think it's something sensei said in the video instead? EDIT: it suddenly downed on me that Suetsugu's words about Daffodils & Arata are a definite proof that Arata's actions in 226 were absolute selflessness for her sake. I say this because I read some horrible explanations by some fans who accused Arata of being jealous and trying to steal Taichi's place because he knew that he wasn't as close to Chihaya as Taichi and that he did it because he was frustrated and that's the whole reason he is depressed in the latest chapters and ofc, you can imagine my reaction to this. Anyway, re-reading the comments, I noticed that some were surprised by sensei's words and I bet they are one of those who never really understood Arata or even looked at him properly. |

I hope everyone is doing fine? Your health before anything else! Araza san, glad to hear that you won your battle vs the virus (without any need for the new vaccine xD) And I miss this place :( i'm afraid i can't be free to take part in these discussions as I wish anymore. My new job is a mess! every time I get free time, something comes up and I should intervene ... It will probably drag on for months :( but I need this.. I'm aware, to start at the right place is always like this ... please wish me good luck! ... Spoilers of the new chapter are already out and I didn't even read 232 properly. Overall, it's what we expected: Arata is having a hard time and Taichi is "help" in his own way... I believe that these spoilers only started something for Arata .. something like how his "Demon" appeared in his match against Taichi, I believe he will be fine. And ofc the spoilers aren't accurate, Taichi arrived at Omi Jingu but I don't know if he entered the venue yet or if Chihaya & the others saw him. Arata seems the only one to think about him, so there is a big chance that those thoughts are rather Arata's, he still feels guilt for causing Taichi to stay behind and now also not being able to go far after that. .. I feel funny, I never overthought or over-analyzed mere spoilers before!! Chihayafuru is ruining me haha (or rather, Arata is!! because i'm becoming more & more impatient because it's about him. ... I feel like I need to re-read the whole thing to set my thoughts right again because I lost track :( I apologize to you Araza san specifically because of all the efforts you made that I can't respond to :( enough for now, I'll try to drop by whenever I get a chance even if it's for a short time! Also, I want to thank you both Wataya kun & rawaa chan for the news & the fan arts & also the edits! I love every single one of them (waiting for the last one to be added here too Rawaa, the "Blue" one ^^) |

I also miss this place, the discussions in it, the details we go into, the arguing & Avish kun's doubts lol. I understand your situation and I wish you all the success of the world so do your best and yes please drop by whenever you can, I know you will because ..Arata?! hihi the manga will tell us more about him now se we can't miss it! it's sad though.. this chapter seems to turn Arata into a demon and people started already to insult him because of Taichi's words: "You are not a kind person" ... Taichi.. Taichi is really bitter about his loss and the 18 cards difference and while he can do nothing to improve himself, he will try to drag Arata down... I never thought of Taichi less than today and I guess i'm making a mistake.. but .. I really don't know how to feel about those spoilers ... |

how did you feel about chapter 205? Demon Arata is so beautiful! Yes the thoughts leading him there were unfamiliar but when he got there didn't he take your breath away? I had to take some time to process everything but all the time, i was seeing only him, there was only this demon for me, only Arata!!! Demon Arata is what Taichi has to spend some more months or even years to reach in karuta let alone to beat.. but Arata the person, Arata the companion, the child, the grandchild, the friend ..we all know about him.. "even though the joy I felt upon seeing Taichi was REAL" "did I look down on a friend?!" and he made the same face he made when his most precious person died. "How could I ever think of you as a hindrance Taichi?" .. The chapter Suetsugu sensei considered so touching and painful, where she said "the way to win is a big deal".. "Arata's true heart/feelings" .." he was saved from his loneliness by Taichi" & "thank you for playing karuta with me all this time" is a pure gratefulness. Arata is not a kind person? what are worried about Rawaa when sensei literally said that "Arata is not capable of being selfish" and she wants this to change for his sake, to be able to desire things and ask for them instead of just standing there waiting for fate! Please don't worry.. Arata will be fine, I have faith in this. But his haters will talk... They badmouthed the him from ch226, from the match vs Harada sensei, I read posts where fans made fan of his hug to his mother. Arata will always look black to these fans but why would YOU give them any importance? tell me about YOUR feelings about Arata! that's what really counts and I can only see them coinciding with every statement by Suetsugu sensei and every detail about Arata from panel 1. So cheer up and keep doing the amazing job you did with the edits ^^ I like them a lot thank you ^^ And looking forward to read any fan comics or ffs ^^ |

Arazaran said: Ive gone through the chapter and something catched my view immediately I wonder if you still remember my karuta Analyis back in december and wonder if you noticed it yourself. I'm gonna send you 3 previous images from chapters I still know out of my head. (from right to left: Ch 110. He against murao. Tries to activate the room but fails. Ch 171. He against Shinobu. Activates a new picture, the team. Ch 197. He against taichi. Tries to activate the room picture but fails. Ch 233. He against Suo. Is desperate to activate a picture, probably the one he got against Taichi. He does this after he sees Taichi. Also I know that your are not so keen at looking the cards but CHIHA, is on the field on Aratas side. The first time actually. When the translations are not out** But yeah my thoughts about this chapter are mixed. Of course I'm a little bit sad that he didn't lose yet and that Taichi came a little bit early for my taste But if his grandpa storyline is over know with all this build up and with an ''Chihaya I'm scared'', I will be absolutely be disappointed. But I really doubt it thats its over. I still think he will lose by more than 10 cards and kind of think, this time he will lose by CHIHA, because he still can't send it Anyway with CHIHA on the field I would say 75% lose /25% win. There is still Yuu with the picture which somehow must fit in the story. I kind of think she won`t show up in the 4th match yet. But I don't know But what really bothers me, that his karuta (the picture) is again not explained. It again seems like a random power up, so ofcourse people will complain again about that. That's why I kind of think it will properly explained with Chihaya x Arata interaction in the next break. But it's also really wierd, why he activated the picture now and not when Suo said something to him in Ch223 or after Chihaya and Arata had their talk in 226 or even after 230. It seems like an asspull, but it's explainable At least for me. And like Taichi kun already said, there doesn't seem a reason why he didn't start with the picture from the beginning. Is Arata really this dense? I also think that he won't really play his chihayaburu form karuta yet. I kinda think now with this chapter, that suetsugu will make the grandpa as an hindrance to his real potential. But I don't know, Yuu will be absolutely important to the story. But anyway thats enough from me now... again too much from me, but I had time today and when I'm in a chihayafuru flow I can't stop hahah |

Hi again Araza ! love your msgs as always ! For Tai/chiha fans yep, stay away from them and focus on what you like! you’ll enjoy Chihayafuru even better i promise! Yes I remember the analysis, I even saved it on my PC for further study (though i didn’t get the chance to yet :( not for that not for anything else needing going back to old chapters & all) heck even the fan arts I wanted to share in the Gallery there is always a problem stopping me :( ---------------- anyway, for the chapter. I don’t know how much you could understand of it but I could get quite a good part so i don’t think Arata was trying to picture something when he closed his eyes he was just frustrated because he is being a failure after he “destroyed” Taichi’s dream to witness Chihaya’s dream (thus we see the whole page where Taichi is standing while Chihaya is playing with Taichi’s words: “I want to witness her dream come true from up close”. Arata was beating himself again bc he still feels guilty to what he did to Taichi. -------------------- Yep! I saw Chiha on Arata’s formation, exactly where he usually puts it. We saw also “Se” in Chihaya’s formation. For Arata’s loss/win, i also can’t predict. Arata is clearly invoking his “Demon” which is the real form of his Karuta (at least this is what Suetsugu is trying to say i guess) his demon is strong, very strong, that’s why he crushed Taichi with 18 cards (that was mentioned again in this chapter) so if he loses despite it, I wonder how sensei will explain it …or maybe she will follow the approach of: “Arata’s demon state is incredible but because he didn’t use it much, he is not yet used to it” or something like that. ------------------- What got my attention more is Chihaya’s inner thoughts about “Arata & having fun” I think she rather said: “is Arata doing what he likes?” or something along this line. she was before having fun herself while she was moving her body..it makes me remember our theory about Chiha symbolizing Chihaya’s passion/fun which she can’t seem to feel lately but little by little she is going back to feel it again. and it’s related to the passion she got from Arata. now Arata also seems far from enjoying Karuta so he might be inspired by Chihaya and that’s how he will want to take Chiha (but he needs to send it first to attack for it) hmmm i don’t know ..that’s what I feel from these raws for now. lat’s see what the actual chapter has. You think that you wrote a lot right? what about my reply? |

Arazaran said: To be honest, no I didn't understand a single thing, just the I'm scared, because it was a cool little Arata ...when I tried using my phone for Google translator it was a pain on the ass. But when you said, that Arata said he feels guilty when he's sees Taichi, I remembered these words pretty fast These words he spoke came directly after he did.. This Also the Chihayaburu form I always talk about, I mean this demon version of Arata. Sorry for confusing you. I remembered that some of you in the club assumed that he embraced the Araburu Form, and he has but it's not in the 3rd game. I will put few examples next, because I think Suetsugu is trying to mess with us, with the different eyes/faces she draws for Arata and of course calling it demon, especially Hiro. 2nd game vs taichi For me this a the demon Araburu, without a picture and just grandpa Now short examples for him in the meijin matches Here It's pretty crazy how much I care for how she draws him But now let's come to the real 'demon' Form, the Chihayaburu form with the picture Here how she's draws arata, that he isn't thinking about anything than karuta, he's ruthless. I interpret these chihaya scene with that how she's is seeing Arata, that she got remembered from the first time he saw him play VS Shinobu. Of course without the smiling. Of course we get a scene like this, where he is ruthless as one could get. But I personally think that this version won't take chiha (personal reason I want a gentle, but still ruthless Arata) he demon hiro talks about I personally really think that suetsugu saying this to us, for not getting on her thoughts too fast Hiro again (lol) So yes I think to trigger the Form, he has to put the picuture first. It makes sense tbh with the translated words you gave me. BUT I really dont think this demon Form will take chiha I wish that he will activate a new picture like this before the 5th game. Calm but sure of the thing he is doing I don't care if it's from chihaya or from chihaya and taichi together anymore tbh I just Want a good Arata content. Shamelessly adding Koto oto tomare in here, hope you don't mind. Did you see it/read it? It's wonderful But yeah overall, I trust suetsugu 100% how she will resolve everything. Even if Chihaya x Arata isn't happening, I'm sure she will find something pleasent for everything and everyone. Tbh CHIHA for chihaya is such an big mistery for me. While I know that the card was there the in Ch 100 before every confession, it can be both because Aratas confession and/ or her Taichi rejection. When if it's about the fun she has, why do we get told from harada it isn't there in her challenger match just after she reunited taichi and Arata with herself. If it's about taichi bringing it to omi why was it already on field in the first game for chihaya and for arata now in the 4th before taichi even came. It's all just so confusing that I only can think of a kinda confession from her to Arata. Just like SE, btw did I ever tell the reason why I was so obsessed with SE for mizusawa? Wouldn't this give Arata the CHIHA card with pretty high chance? But yeah this is just me simple minded without out the craft Sensei has. But yeah SE is still a mistery for me. It is not under the cards for Arata now in the 4th match. So I really don't know anymore how Sensei will play this out BTW I see no one talking about SE Never Kinda sad, because besides CHIHA it's the most important card for chihaya.... |

& yep, it’s probably both lol. Yes, Suetsugu is trying to make this “demon Arata” the real Arata on Tatami. the strong player that Suo mejin wanted to play against. Looks like Arata tried again to picture a beautiful image, something fun but the guilt is preventing him from it so he is not thinking of anything?? Murao even said that Arata looked like he wasn’t even breathing. it kind of reminds me of what sensei wants Arata to become, she wants him to become a little more selfish and fight for what he wants . Chihayaburu or Araburu… for some reason, now I have a feeling sensei let go of these words now but who knows? Arata’s demonic faces lol… I think you are right, there is a difference.. Before the demonization, Arata’s angry faces look chaotic somehow, there is clear anger and strong emotions but the real “Demon” looks rather frozen in time lol (which I love way better!) it’s more a Chihayaburu state. Though in his match vs Shinobu, there was rather a bit of his grandpa’s personality so I feel it very different. I also find it difficult to imagine how he will take Chiha without emotions or motivation? if he is empty while he plays then what’s the meaning of taking Chiha so hopefully, there is much to the real self Suetsugu sensei is trying to show us about Arata, his Karuta & his emotions. She tweeted today abut the manga which is approaching the end little by little the more she draws and we all feel emotional, I wrote her a comment that she read & liked, I told her to write the story she loves because that’s what I want to read, I hope she writes without pressure from anyone. And I believe she will make a good use of Chiha & Se . (I loved that page from kono oto tomare, I am very interested in it but i didn’t get yet the chance to read it, so maybe i will in the future.) |

I'm alright Taichi-kun! Hope you're doing good on your new job. Don't work too hard! :) Sorry I forgot to ask about your health last time, Araza-san! Hope you're fully recovered and back to normal! :) Still going through your posts... my brain slows down considerably when it comes to poems and discussions about poems ;) And here's some of my doubts and objecting for Rawaa! ;P About Taichi's thoughts, when did he become such an expert on Arata? I mean mentioning grandpa and "I don't know who you're trying to be on the tatami" feels really specific and we're never shown Taichi thinking about this before... Last 2-3 pages' thoughts are definitely Arata's cause Taichi won't think stuff like "you are a mere demon..." So it's Arata beating himself up... Among other things, absolutely loved Chihaya's loud deep breathing exercise and of course the Ara-Chiha moment! Asking her tasuki back!! Haha! Not sure about the next sentences she said were out loud or in her mind? Usually, thoughts are written in italics but here talking is also shown in italics, so it's confusing. And where the heck is Arata looking when Chihaya talked to him?? Cause he's definitely not looking at Chihaya there. She's in front of him and standing, so he should look straight and up! But he's looking a bit sideways and a bit down!! Also, Chihaya is looking over her right shoulder when she talked to him but in the next panel, she's looking over her left shoulder!! No thoughts on demon Arata as of now... but about the pictures, we don't really know what kinda (terrifying?) image he used while crushing Taichi... I'm not really sure if always uses one... like the first two Meijin matches... what kinda images he used there? Can't really imagine... Really curious about what happens with Chiha in Arata's formation... But, what a chapter! Those panels where Arata looks at the crowd (which looks like a bunch of demons themselves!) The crushing weight of expectations! Scared little Arata!! Chihaya calms him down a bit! Relentless Suo-attack continues!! Then Taichi arrives! And that end panel!! And then 2 months wait!!! So frustrating!!!! Haha! |
