Just because an asteroid is approaching it doesn't mean the end of humanity, there's been a lot which has already struck Earth. An asteroid to destroy a city would need to be several-60+ meters big - such stuff already fell down ex. "Tunguska Event" in 1908. 1 kilometer diameter to have big impact. Around 30-hundreds kilometers to cause the end of humanity which are so rare that you have better chance to get all SSR characters in hardest Gacha as free account [Fate grand order odds?]. Usual asteroids are of the class of few up to 100 meters. 1-2 kilometers are always warned not by government but by NASA and such big class happens once per several thousands or even hundreds thousands of years. There was one - the one which destroyed dinosaurs of around 10-15 kilometers diameter but for humanity you would need a bigger one, because infrastructure will protect the people of certain distance from the crater, unlike dinosaurs which had nothing. Even that comet 3i/atlas recently was always informed by people of astronomy sciences, I don't know if even a single government has said anything about that. Which later that info leaked into conspiracy theory crafters with manipulations and propaganda sharing the ideas of "Alien technology" through social media filled with people whom won't spent few seconds to even verify the information they got... and you want to tell me that government would warn me for a small asteroid which wouldn't even destroy my country? Impossible scenerio. That's why I would do nothing because it is so rare that it hasn't happened once since around 66 millions of years [the 10-15km asteroid which killed dinosaurs] and hell knows how long since an asteroid big enough to destroy humanity, maybe it has never happened. sq |
