Given the personality and how she's been treated, I don't think a male character in the Soul Eater universe would interact with Medusa the way that she does. I get more of a mother/daughter type of vibe from their relationship. |

| I wrote this somewhere else originally, I'm just copying and pasting: I'll be referring to Crona as a boy for simplicity's sake. Let me start by saying that Crona's gender has /never/ been officially revealed. In Japanese, they only use gender neutral pronouns to describe him. Translators decide to choose "he" or "she" to make it easier to describe him since English lacks gender neutral pronouns. Medusa never states that Crona is her "daughter", only that he is her "child." I'm going to list every single hint about Crona's gender that I can possibly think of right now, but I don't believe that anything is true, definitive proof so far. Let's start with the hints of Crona being female: -Wears a dress, although it may be a robe. -Has a "girly" hair color. I personally don't agree with this, as many male characters have purple hair. (No, Crona's hair is not pink.) -Young Crona wears what is most definitely a dress. Also looks and sounds like a girl. -"Girly" figure. I've gotta disagree with this one too. Looks like a skinny boy to me, and not just because of the lack of boobs. -Ragnarok tries to pull up Crona's dress and Crona is embarrassed and calls him a pervert. -Female voice actor. (Kind of irrelevant) Now for male Crona: -Uses "boku", a Japanese word for "I" that is normally used by males. Females can use it too, but are /usually/ more of the outspoken, tomboyish type. And no, Crona could not have learned "boku" from Ragnarok because he uses "ore," not "boku." -Eyes look more like how male eyes are drawn rather than female, although this could just be to make him look more tired. -Despite the female voice actor, Crona still sounds boy-ish /most/ of the time. -Crona says he "Doesn't know how to deal with talking to girls" and then blushes. He also blushes quite a bit when he's around Maka. Could just be shyness, I guess. -In episode 31, Crona wears male formal wear while all of the girls wear dresses. -Studies show that male children who are raised by abusive mothers will become weak and submissive like Crona, whereas females usually become hateful and resentful. But once again, this is anime we're talking about, so it could be different. -And finally, the most definitive piece of evidence I can think of, and the fact that makes me think that Crona is very likely male, is this: Witches can clearly only be female, so if Crona were really Medusa's daughter, she would be a witch too. It's clear that Crona is not a witch at all though because not only would it have been mentioned, but it specifically was stated that he /isn't/ a witch. In episode 12, when Medusa is at that witches meeting thing at the beginning, she says to Eruka, "I'm not the only one who brought non-witches." The only think I can think of that could contradict this evidence is either a plot hole or that there really is some logical reason for Crona being female, but not being a witch. So there ya go, that's everything I've got. I really do hope we find out what Crona's gender is eventually though. No matter what the result, he will always be one of my all-time fav characters 'cause he's just so awesome. XD One thing I'm worried about, however, is that they'll pick a random gender for him in the dub. I really hope they don't, in case they end up choosing the wrong one or something. o__o Oh yeah, and as for the argument of "Crona's name would be Crono if he were a guy," that is untrue for many reasons. There are many male characters with names ending with an "A." Not only that, but Crona's name is actually the last 3 letters of Ragnarok's name in Japanese, but flipped around.(ra-gu-na-ro-ku; ku-ro-na) It seems that his name can also mean "dark one" or something along those lines. Hopefully this clears some stuff up~ I'd also love to be able to add more things to this list if anyone thinks of anything I missed. |

| That picture at the end of chapter 60 doesn't really prove anything. Sure, Crona is in a girly pose, but that's it. Nothing is really showing so there's no proof. Some people seem to think that the fact that Crona's chest *isn't* showing is proof that it's a girl, but that's not true. The author doesn't want to choose either gender for Crona(ever) so the only way to do that would be to keep the chest covered. Also, if you look at that picture in chapter 60, you can see that Crona has a more masculine back/shoulders area. So yeah, Crona doesn't just have a feminine body. It's sort of a mix. |

| UPD: I've searched through the subs, and every time Medusa talks about Chrona (this is really disappointing) but all I've found is referring to Chrona as 'kodomo' or even 'ko', or something like this. This fact makes me think that even Medusa herself doesn't know Chrona's gender XD |

I must disagree; newest chapters showed us that, even if she hasn't boobs just like Blair's, her silhouette is definitely feminine- just have a look at her hips at pages 28-29 in ch.67! ^^ I've never seen a boy having such a sexy hips, really. I think, that when Ookubo Atsushi was creating Crona, he wasn't sure what sex he could choose for her and he has made her boyish, but some time passes and he decided that Crona is a girl after all. Crona's gender is meant to be unknown so you've gotta look at it from the creator's point of view. He purposely created a seemingly genderless character to get reactions out of people. Apparently he stated in an interview that he doesn't know Crona's gender. And I don't think anyone's saying they need to see official pictures of Crona completely naked as proof. There are many other things that could be proof. For example, the main reason I see Crona as male is because he would most likely be a witch if he were a girl, but Medusa actually says that he isn't one. But even this isn't proof, because it is probably technically possible for Crona to be female and not be a witch. So basically, it's no better than what you're saying. I don't think anything is wrong with saying that you see Crona as a girl, but I really wish people would stop going around saying that they have absolute *proof*, because there really isn't any. | I see what you're saying. XD Everyone has their own reasons for believing whatever. I do agree that Crona looks more feminine in the manga now, but he still *does* look androgynous enough. I'm going to pass it off as an art style change, which happens to everyone over time. As for that pic I posted, that is, in fact, a guy. His name is Bridget and he's from Guilty Gear. He's probably the most well known example of a trap. XDD And stuff like this is so common in anime. There are *so* many characters that look like girls, but turn out to be guys. That is why I don't think of Crona's "feminine" appearance as proof. Besides, when I look at him I just can't see him as a girl. XD I actually kinda hope Crona doesn't get a confirmed gender so that everyone can believe what they want. But then again, some of the arguing out there is pretty ridiculous and I'd like to see that stop. >3<;; |

| I've kinda given the hell up thinking about that.... Crona's gender is 'androgyne' :P And apparently the author said he doesn't even care what gender Crona is, so I doubt there'll be an answer for us any time soon. But if I were to pick a gender, I'd prefer him/her to be male, just because of all the fanarts that make him/her look more like a girl (fanboys will be fanboys....), so I could laugh my ass off at those people. | I used to see Crona as a girl, and I still kind of do, but now I'm going more with Crona being hermaphradite/intersex. I don't think Crona was made through natural baby making means anyway and maybe Medusa didn't want to have to deal with a hormonal kid so she screwed all that up. Pure speculation on most of that. Body build being a mix of male and female pushes the hermaphraditism in my mind though. Everything about the boy/girl arguments has already been said so this is all I'll say for now! 8D |

I think Crona should have their own gender, like Hideyoshi from Baka Test x3 There is absolutely no proof at all on the gender of the character (unless it was randomly revealed in a later chapter xD). Crona's outfits, poses and even voice (<3 Sakamoto Maaya) all just add to the androgynity of this ultra-adorable character. |

| I always thought Chrona was a guy, and then when the subtitles started mention him as a she I was all like "what!?" XDD But I found out that was subbers preference so... XD I don't think you can really use the argument of Chrona's name being girly 【Anyone know Sora off Kingdom Hearts? I didn't know that was a girls name till I heard people saying it was XD】 In Junior High there was a guy named Misha 【didn't know why people laugehd when they first heard it back then, cuz' I didn't know it was generally a girls name since I never saw it before】 So using Chrona's name as an argument, seems pointless, guys can get girly names. Of course someone 'recently' brought up that in the official english dub he was refering to Chrona as a he, but thennnn I found another clip from the english with Liz or Patty or DTK 【where the 3 of them meet Crona for the first time, on a ship】 and whoever spoke sounded like they couldn't tell wheather Chrona was a girl or a boy XD So to me this says, Soul assumes Crona is a boy at least~ 8D But the Liz/Patty/DTK thing, tells me other characters feel otherwise XD I'll look up the exact scenes later when I think about it. | I'm dead sure Crona is a he because: #1 - He blushes when he admits he's not good with girls #2 - He himself and others consistantly and always refer to him as "boku," "he," "this dude," and "him." #3 - He takes initiative to protect others (boyish) #4 - When deviant artists draw Crona as a girl, it just looks.. not right: wrong and twisted! Like, WHY is he in a dress/cute clothes blushing like a girly girl? It just doesn't suit him! #5 - His voice is shy-boyish more than it is weakly-girly #6 - He apoligizes like a sad/embarassed introverted boy would when he (OR Ragnarok!) lifts Maka's skirt! #7 - Crona wouldn't feel enough courage/strength in "herself" to refer to "herself" as "boku." #8 - Crona and Maka's relationship seems more "you're the only one I can deal with" rather than just girlhood-friendship. Well.. I had a bunch of other reasons I forgot.. SOOOO.. I can't find any signifigant evidence that Crona is a girl, other than his hair and dress. (Other than Ragnarok calling him a B-word in the manga, once.) But that's just me, though. |

| I'm 100% Crona's a dude. Just... Well, I'm a fan of androgynous guys. Like Envy from Fullmetal Alchemist. Medusa has referred to Crona as her son a few times. When Crona first met Maka, he kept saying "I don't know how to deal with girls"... Typical thing an extremely shy guy would say. He's referred to as a "he" multiple times as well. Say what ya want, I still call Crona a he ;P |

| Id probably say Male too, Crona does have alot of female qualities (mainly the pink hair and the dress he wears) but with all the female aura around him something just says to me that Crona is a boy :) Also the fact that Crona appears to be masculinely flat chested also gives a hint to him being male Hes awesome though ^^ |
