Neco-Arc :p Archetype: Earth seems like the logical thing to do. Shiki would be really interesting, as well. First ascension: Shiki in her blue kimono with her knife and normal eyes. Second ascension: Shiki in her red leather jacket with MEoDP. Third ascension: Shiki in her light pink kimono with her sword and/or MEoDP. Final art: Preferably this exact one lol. |

Actually, there are some laws in the US IIRC that puts that distinction between video games and electronic gambling machines. If the failure-state resulted completely due to player choice of any kind (like skill in gameplay), then it's a game. If it was due to RNG, then it's a gambling device and must follow the respective rules of such devices. VNs' failure-states are completely in the hands of the player and there isn't a random chance to it. If an electronic Choose Your Own Adventure had a failure-state, then yes, it's a game. What's the difference between going down a menu and choosing to kill an enemy in a turn-based RPG, and going down a menu in a VN and choosing to do the same? What's the difference between a linear game design that forces you in a specific path with the same enemy placement, and a VN with semi-linear storytelling with the same events? The former in both questions just gives you more control on how you perform the act. The latter still gives you choice and control, just less of it. Also, "competitive" means that it must have a failure-state, as in competing against the game's designed obstacles, because single player games with no scoring systems can't be competitive if you look at it any other way. |
