| Not sure about worst ever, but in terms of anime I watched recently, I lasted about 40 minutes into Hellsing Ultimate's first episode before giving up. I thought literally every thing about it was horrendous. The writing and direction in particular felt like it was done by complete amateurs with no experience in storytelling. |

Neon Genesis Evangelion, apart from the iconic OP, is mostly popular, talked about, and remembered for what happened in the second half of the series; especially in the last quarter or so. Don't get me wrong - I'm at odds with those who sing its praises and count it among my least favorite series of all those I've completed as I have my own gripes with it which really rub me the wrong way. But the whole following around the series revolves more around discussions of its themes which are only more openly touched on later.

The same decade produced Cowboy Bebop + Outlaw Star; and even though only one of those have deep themes, I don't see much praise of these shows but I see Evangelion talked about everywhere and its characters named frequently. And it's OLDER than both of those. After all these years I wouldn't expect a near 30 year old anime to have younger fans; it's just another old anime that doesn't hold up to present-day animation standards and isn't even well written. That Rei Ayanami character isn't even that good looking (she's alright, just not S tier or anything especially by modern standards) When I tried watching it, I was CONVINCED it had to be amazing and I was in for a treat (based on all the hype) What a disappointment that was... I was like "the fuck is this?" |

How he stalked and butchered those bandits in their sleep just for monetary gain, so he could buy a sex slave was straight up fucked up. |

| Completed: Clannad. Scored it a 3. Dumb, bad and boring. At least I learned never to trust MAL scores and that anime versions of VN's have crap plot. Dropped: Shokei Shoujo no Virgin Road. Completed 7/12 episodes, scored 2. Pretty sick & disgusting scenes like stabbing innocent kids in the back who were completely oblivious to doing anything wrong other than being alive (smth like that). Dishonorable mentions (drops): Terra Formars, Girls Bravo: Season 1. |
