Sadly, all I know is English. I-I-I'm so ashamed of myself and highly envious of most people here.

(sighs) nothing I can really do about that but get Rosetta Stone (there is no way in hell I'm spending money on that) maybe that can help me.

English is my first language. But I speak Arabic at home.

But I took German and Spanish both for 2 years back in high school. Not going to lie, I learned absolutely nothing and barely managed to pass. I wasn't really interested in learning German or Spanish. German was fun because I had a cool teacher and he'd tell us jokes often and we'd watch videos. Plus, if you were nice to him, he'd help you out and give you hints to the answer. In Spanish class, I just flirted with a kid in the class. So that didn't go well. Anyway, back to the language element, I hated all the memorization for both languages and it just made me frustrated. Plus, foreign languages are an elective (even though 2 years of a language were required in my school) so I didn't try as hard in my foreign language classes compared to my core classes, like math, history, science, and writing.

If I had to learn another language, I still would want to improve my Arabic - since I can't read it. Also, I'd wanna learn maybe Japanese. But it's hella hard and involves even more memorization. So I'm just stuck with English and knowing Arabic at the same level as an elementary student.

Who the hell speak english and japanese, cantonese, korean or mandarin?
C'mon, only if you're an otaku who like learn useless languages or if you travel around the world.
Most people here speak english and spanish, or english and some other european language like portuguese, french, german, etc.

By the way... I speak some english, spanish, portuguese, catalan and a little bit italian.

How I wish you not to have said this thing but okay I appreciate your opinion. Asians tend to learn Korean and Mandarin/Cantonese, especially if they're descendant of Chinese family. Not only otakus and travelers who have to learn these languages, PEOPLE HAVE TO. It's your choice, just in case you go there someday so that you wont be clueless. Asian is about one-third of the population, they could rule the world if they could. Even some Europeans speak Chinese as well- I hope you didn't underestimate the strength of languages.
