| Its only a red flag if it dont make sense or they act out in a way that drags you or them down in a way that hurts you or them for no reason Liking and caring about can be different things. Also it can be more complex than that. You can dislike some parts of people or their actions, behaviour but still like and care about them as people. If not love. And thats the tricky part. Its red depending on how its expressed and acted out, the reasons why and how it affects you. But if theres no reason to its red and they might try to isolate you from your security system and friends too. Give them the 🖕 if they cant communicate about it, be aware and change their act to the better if it makes sense that is. Forcing people to like someone they dont is not ok either and a red flag too to force or coerce people to too. It all depends on how and context. Sometimes people have to tolerate people they dont like but its not the same as forcing them to like them. Thats insane. Unless its connected to prejudice, then its more like education, awareness, decriminslisation, spending time together and getting to know eachother to humanize eachother and find common ground is more at the core of it. | ^im gonna say yes but a conditional one, because unless you break all contact your parents are going to be present in your life, and if your partner tells you straight up that they dont like your parents i feel like its a more loaded statement than it seems, but maybe im being colored by past experience... like unless the person's parents are really shitty or abusive, i would say 'i dislike when your mom does this' or 'i dont like how your dad acts like that' instead of just saying 'i dont like your parents' because the former its like yeah they can be annoying and its fine to not like them but you're also still making an effort to acknowledge the importance they have in your partner's life, and the latter is more like 'your parents are bad and shouldnt be liked' and so either you're being nudged to agree with your partner or side against them, and also taking a slight hit to yourself as there is kinda just a subtle dig at 'what type of person would care about such shitty people' type of thing. political parties are worse than cults nowadays so yeah very red has been to a psych ward |

Im kidding... But like its really funny sometimes the ones that needs it the most never makes it there or refuses to in spite of hoards of children beghing them to and how much damage they also do to their surroundings or "loved ones" and then the kids, siblings or spouses or even coworkers etc that do get damaged as a result of their behaviour gets blamed for the entire dysfunctional family dynamic for instance while really them being there in the ward is a result of them finally snapping and showing the actual symptoms of the dysfunction of the entire system or family to fix whats wrong with it or they speak up about it and become by that "the problem", "the black sheep" cause they refuse to o play the game unlike everyone else who just ignores and refuses to deal, communicate and to help fix things cause "it works fine for them" cause theyre just fine with letting everyone else take the blame and bruises for them. Or they dont have empathy or a strong enough selfworth or whatever it is to face that what theyre doing is not brave and unselfish and not selfcentered to not get guidance and help from the outside but the opposite and how much damage they actually cause people close to them that they say the love but funnily enough cant lower their ego or whatever for and the damage they also do to themselves most likely and how that also newsflash can harm people around them. So.they.need.help.too.and giving up and ignorering this effects more than just you and when you got children you need to fcking not be childish and fight to get better too not blame your kids and shame them and others for finally getting the help and fo the work you fucking needed to have done all along if you cared or had known enough for some.
