| Like... a lot. Not too into the albums from 2000's onwards, but especially the ones from 1988 to 1999 (especially the Mustaine / Friedman / Ellefson / Menza lineup) are almost entirely untouchable for me and enough already to have a good opinion of the band. Yeah, including Cryptic Writings and Risk. Seen in concert at italian festival Gods Of Metal in june 2016 before Korn and Rammstein, at first i didn't have a ticket for them as the event was meant to be two days long, but luckily for me Kiss cancelled their tour and so Megadeth got merged with Korn and Rammstein day. It wasn't the best concert because most of the songs are now tuned down compared to the studio recording, but i'm still glad i can tell i watched Dave Mustaine live. Tornado Of Souls is exactly as amazing as a solo guitar as everyone seems to think, even if my favorite song from Rust In Peace is Poison Was The Cure. Countdown To Extinction is probably my favorite overall, especially thanks to Skin O' My Teeth, Sweating Bullets, the title track, High Speed Dirt, and Ashes In Your Mouth. Youthanasia is almost there, the 1-2-3 punch all in a row The Killing Road / Blood Of Heroes / Family Tree is so badass... i'm aware remasters have a bad reputation but for once Train Of Consequences with a added guitar solo outro is even better... and what can i tell, i won't ever erase from my memory how amused i was when i listened to Victory for the very first time and recognized the lyrics were made by previous Megadeth title songs, as if it wasn't already amazing enough to begin with. Cryptic Writings has a really good start with Trust and Almost Honest and then becomes sort of hit or miss, but has some great deep cuts like The Disintegrators, I'll Get Even, Sin, and a great finish with Vortex / FFF combination. Risk... except for The Doctor Is Calling i hardly ever skipped a track while listening to it in my car. Yeah, i went there. Feeling like i'm probably the biggest fan on planet Earth of that album, and honestly won't apologize for it. sq |
