| The "villainess" tag is solely contrived to describ anime where the protagonist or a mc is reborn (tensei) or transported to another world (isekai) as the villainess of that world, or interacts closely with the villainess of that world. It's often related to being reborn as a villainess of video game, where they're transported into the game and live their new life playing as the game's villainess. Shows that follow this pattern: Red Flags: All Routes Lead to Doom (2020) I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss (2022) The Most Heretical Final Boss (2022) Villainess Lv 999 (2024) I'm in Love with the Villainess (2024) I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History (current) It's meant to add new twists to the Otome Game motif of villainesses as well as meta-awareness, according to TV Tropes; and it is clearly described on Anime-Planet, even though these are different websites. |
