III. ANIME AND MANGA LISTS
I actually have never read manga and use the list to represent more anime that I like; however, the ones I choose to slot there are known to be great manga, and that's why I make that differentiation.

Most of the anime that I think are the greatest are ones that set themselves apart intellectually and tend to be more cerebral. I look for more mature anime, that discuss passion in hobbies, or have economic, entrepreneurial, or political intrigue to some degree. I also enjoy realistic fiction that have something deep to say about friendship or romantic relationships.

IV. BEST GIRLS
Best girls, to me, are the ones that are really supportive of others, and are honest with integrity. I've created three lists of different kinds of best girls.

Watching this season

Last completed anime

Best Girls – The Daring

You know the drill.

These are the ones who are willing to lay down their lives to protect people, or the ones they love. Resourceful, skilled, and intelligent, they are also loyal to a fault.

Best Girls – The Loving

Some are not designed for the battlefield or the world stage, and yet find solace in supporting their friends through smaller acts of kindness and affection.

Best Girls – The Dreaming

The waifies or girls in this list are passionate about a hobby, sport, or ambitious goal, and their determination often radiates to those around them, filling them with animation as well. They demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, and sometimes even overzelousness; however, they are more introspective than they first appear.

I. SEASON

These are my most anticipated anime of W23:
• Tokyo Revengers S2
• Buddy Daddies
• Magical Rev of Princess x Genius Lady
• Ice Guy + Cool
• Sugar Apple Fairy Tail
• Don't Toy With Me, Nagatoro 2
• Tomo-chan
• Angel Next Door

I finished the shows, along with an extra wildcard, Mou Ippon! for a 9 complete series cour season. Tomo was probably the biggest surprise, since I had zero standards for it to meet, and yet it was surprisingly sensitive, with complex discussion spanning the delicacies and adversities in teen high school interactions. The tomboyish personality of Tomo was vitalising, and showcased that there's multidimensionality to romance anime characters still, and the leads play well off each other. Angel was a similar story; however, I saw some weaknesses in its construction due to the less natural setup; many of the settings and types of affairs became repetitive and a chore to finish. The biggest disappointment, conversely, . Nagatoro was mostly what I expected, though there were a couple episodes half way that

At times, Magical Rev of Princess x Genius Lady, Ice Guy, and Sugar Apple all surprised me with some moment of inspiration, whether it was dedicated scene of master class artwork, gripping dramatic juncture containing exceptional dialogue and framing, or a funny depiction. Each contributed to the litera of anime something useful or relevant.

I'm skipping these (low priority):
• Misfit Demon S2
• In/Spector 2
• Ningen Fushin
• Spy Classroom

I need to watch earlier seasons / episodes:
• Fumetsu no Anata-e- Season 2
• Vinland Saga
• Blue Lock

Possible:
• NieR
• Eminence in Shadow
• Iruma-kun 3
• Trigun Stam

II. OTHER VIEWINGS
I'm watching these (S23):
• Major
• Bloom Into
• Uzaki

I'm finishing these:
• Takagi-san (movie)
• Reinca Sword
• Akebi

Recently I watched these shows, various quality during F22 or early W23:
• Summertime Render
• Yona
• Classroom of the Elite II
• Rent a GF S2
• Quint Quintup Movie
• Call of Night
• Shield Hero 2
• Tsukimichi
• Ayumu Make a Move
• Kobayashi (all)
• Spy x Fam 1.II
• No Game No Life
• Shadows House S1/2
• SAO Progress
• Dance Dance Dans
• Shikimori
• Villainess Taming Final Boss

The ones that really stood out were Summertime, Dance Dance, and Shadows House, in addition to Spy. Render is probably my favorite from the list due to its realism, attention to detail, and sci-if leanings among other things like sound and production design. I thought the action and animation were expertly done and most of the characters were really entertaining. Shadows House was such an engaging proceeding, that it even inspired me to try something new. It yields beautiful art in full color, and gripping expansion of the story, including exploration into character histories and the various dynamics among the shadows.

Classroom Elite was a major improvement over the first season, and Dance Dance surprised me in its competency showing a niche interest. Yona was a let down in the sense that there is no continuation and abruptly ends, whereas QQ arrived at its earnest conclusion, despite Miku and Nino supporters getting hurt. SAO was an interesting premise in switching the frame of reference to Asuna's POV; however, it still failed to deliver that satisfying of a final piece.

HOW I RATE
I attempt to rate in a normal distribution (gaussian) with a mean of 6 and a sd that places about 5% of anime at a 10, or about 15% as a 9-10. Very few get a 3-1

GOOD ANIME
• 10: Classics or contemporary treasures that contribute greatly to anime as a form of expression. Uniquely cogitating on the state of humans, anime that deserve a perfect score are far and few between, and typically revolve around advanced in-depth exploration of relationships, growth, friendship, communication, revenge, longing, and determination. They have few, though minor, weaknesses, that are altogether acceptable. The anime must have a way of being believable as realistic fiction, or have some personalized explanation for every narrative choice and character moment; even if it's speculative in nature, it must stay grounded in as many areas in building its world as possible.
• 9: Unlike 10, 9's are much more common and have more glaring flaws. Some plot holes may form, and a couple character decisions might not be consistent with the personality the anime has previously established for that role. However, more than any other rating below, it is mostly convincing or sensical, and is for the most part tight and directed in narrative. For the most part, this rating covers anime that discuss various topics or ideas about humans and man-made systems almost as intelligently as a 10, and only have a few dumb moments in an otherwise well-designed story with likeable characters.
• 8: This is the lowest level of the most high-calibre content in cartoons. The show must demonstrate self-assuredness in its capabilities, with a reasonable plot, well-crafted protagonists and side characters, effective animation, a decent or minimalist score, and other signs of high quality production value. It talks about important issues, yet less competently or completely than higher-ranked peers. Several weaknesses begin to appear: moments of unintentionally awkward dialogue, wildly unlikely scenarios or coincidences, and major contradictions; however, every frame is important and the show remains sincere with its audience.

OKAY ANIME
• 7: These shows are clearly imperfect and demonstrate infantile mistakes. It may include infantile things like contrived fan service moments. They sometimes lack construction and are loosely collected together by the importance of the characters, rather than a thoughtful overarching plot. The show does not consider anything profound, though it might stay spirited enough to ameliorate these non-idealities a lot.
• 6: Most anime center around this. The anime does not contribute anything particularly novel to the literature, and usually present zero profound things. However, the anime may have a few great ideas and iconic characters and interactions.
• 5: Worse than average. Some really annoying hindrances stop an otherwise serviceable idea from becoming good when realized in practice. There may have been some serious problems in production, such as a lack of funding, technical talent, or creative connection to the material.
• 4: Bad, except it's mostly harmless. The primary ideas of the anime (plot, characters, setting, theme) were poor to begin with, so no level of bandaiding with impressive VfX or voice acting or scores would fix these shortcomings. If this an adaption of a manga or ln, then either the author was bad at storyboarding or the quality of the original was lost in translation to the next medium. There are a couple positives, perhaps involving a unique character, good acting, or a magical moment of genius animation here or there.

BAD ANIME
• 3: There was some effort. (Meager.) The show is a mess, though. In almost every way, the anime collapses under its own weight and blunders to connect its narrative decisions, characters, tone, and other devices (such as symbolism) to an important theme. Character decisions are nonsensical; the plot is extremely weak and/or dull. Long expanses of the runtime are boring or pointless and have nothing to do with the main sequence of events; it lacks direction, purpose, and/or ambition.
• 2: No effort; the creators feel shame. As vapid as possible, the writing either disrespects the audience's intelligence, or worse, betrays the audience's trust. Not only is the show shallow and has no theme, its characters are also unrelatable, annoying, and pathetically one-dimensional. It's almost impossible to ascertain the quality of character decisions or interaction because there's hardly a central plot, from which to base a determination, tying everything together.
• 1: The worst, which hurts society by simply existing. It aggrandizes or belittles. The point may be it purposefully divides population in order to damage social cohesion, provoking others through discord. It has objectives; however, those objectives are malicious.

I. CURRENT STUFF
First off, let me update about what I've been watching. These are my current viewings:
• Lycoris
• Call of the Night
• Classroom of the Elite S2
• Kingdom S4
• Rent-a-Girl S2

I watched all of Kingdom in about 1-2 weeks and was lucky to finish and catch up right at the end of the Siege of Kanyou/Xianyang, wrapped up at E23. The release schedule aligned perfectly for me by complete happenstance. This was really fortunate and so I'm happy and willing to wait excitedly for the conclusion of the season, since I didn't really get sideslapped by a large cliffhanger. I'm thinking of reviewing all the seasons.

I'm a little bit lost with Classroom of the Elite and Rent-a-Girl, so I need to go back and rewatch the last few S1 episodes of both.

Lycoris might be the best new anime of the season, with SxF as the anime of the year.

I'm really enjoying Yofukashi no Uta. I watched all pretty quickly up through E11 and I have a few mild complaints; however, overall it's entertaining and enjoyable.

I've also been trying to complete these:
• Suzuka
• Nana

They're tough to get through since they're hyper-realistic and painful.
