| I just found out about this adaptation, I really hope it's more faithful because I really hated the first one. At least it helps to distract from the fact that MXTX hasn't published anything for years, I hope it's because they're too busy enjoying the money they've made and not because of the tightening of censorship. |

| @Shiroyaki I think censorship plays a big role, but so does the economic meltdown China is having right now. There are mass protests everywhere, rampant homelessness, businesses are going bankrupt, employers are being sued for not paying wages, and the centeral government and various banks are literally robbing the people for whatever funds they can take, and local governments are doing the same while also being pressured to cough up money to give to the CCP. The rich and middle class have been fleeing in droves. It's hard times for the Chinese overall, and creators are not immune. Add the ever-growing list of restrictions placed upon them (and the very real risk of fines or imprisonment if they don't comply) and you can see why some are taking a step back to re-assess how they are going to be able to make a living. The lucky ones like MXTX at least have money coming n from globally popular works. As for the new manga, it is supposed to be completely uncensored. Praise Japan for making this possible for us! ^_^  |

In Japan, MDZS's LN went to the top of the sales charts. Probably at least one Japanese publisher who would publish it directly should exist. Some people were even gathering evidence online to prove that between the 19th and 24th, when she updated his profile saying that the annunced novel do not fit her writing anymore, she was in prison because of what she published. Even the possibility of it being true is scary but it would explain why she hasn't given interviews or collected international awards. It seemed strange to me that when they published MDZS in my country there wasn't even a message from her, and it was a big thing, the biggest marketing campaign I've ever seen done for an LN, a lot of interviews with people involved, the book sold in paper format everywhere. When publishers make so much noise it's because they usually invite the author to a comic con, but there hasn't even been a two-line post from her. I've always found it strange, unless there's some real impediment ignoring all the publicity campaigns done for your book and all the prizes you get is quite ungrateful, I don't think she's disconnected from the world just to concentrate on writing of a novel and this is really sad. |

Some people have even reported having their passports destroyed at the airport and being refused passage onto a flight to force them to remain in China. Even if she's not jailed, she may not be allowed to leave the country and the Great Firewall would limit her access to outside communication. Yeah, lots of Chinese used ladders (their slang for VPNs) but famous people are watched more closely so not all are willing to take the chance. Especially with plans for their new ID sign-up policy that would require you to show ID to access websites. |

| @AnnaSartin I knew that they were also heavily monitored abroad, due to the scandal of illegal police stations on European soil, but I had no idea that they prevented people from travelling. I hope that at least she's okay and that she wasn't actually put in prison you could tell she really loved what she wrote it's sad enough that she can't carry on but if she really was in prison for this it would be really depressing. But considering that many unwelcome Chinese writers have been banned and continued to write from abroad and indeed become even more critical, it makes sense that they would prefer to keep them at home and prevent them from continuing rather than throw them out of the country. |
