I think it was really disrespectful with it's characters, killing all of them for cheap shock value, it's cheap, it's mid, you watch the anime, you fall in love with the characters to see all of them easily die while Akame out of nothing remembers the name of the anime is Akame ga kill and takes the scene. It has it's qualities, but it falls flat. wouldn't recommend it.

this anime dropped back when i was first getting into anime also. but all i remember about it now is that it pissed me off so much somewhere in the middle that i dropped it, im pretty sure a character i like dies in a stupid way and it made me give up. it’s actually probably the first anime i ever dropped. maybe i’ll rewatch one day and see if it’s so called poorly aged-ness will have a reverse effect on my opinion.

the decision to just give up on being faithful to the source material at the last few episodes and take liberties by killing everybody in rapid succession as an excuse to end the anime

I really enjoyed this anime til episode 20, but man they just kept killing characters left and right. The final episode had me going "WHAT?!" a few times, and not the good "WHAT!?"
How did Akame "use Esdeath's bloodlust against her", why did Leone not account for the minister having a trick up his sleeve, why did Leone not swat the gun out of the minister's hand, allowing him to CAUSE HER DEATH, why did Esdeath and Tatsumi just vaporize? I was fine with the first three main cast deaths, I felt that Chelsea's could have been avoided, but oh well, but god man they just killed the entire main cast, INCLUDING THE MC, LIKE WHAT THE FUCK!
