@Grekyy

I think it can be difficult to judge any media that was made in the past with our point of view of today (plus in this case it was also originally made in Japan for a Japanese audience).
@IKKIsama true, but I do know that western audiences in the USA did censor the anime which was based off the manga and I'm pretty sure the manga was censored too.

Pretty much everything mentioned on here is suitable for kids. One of the reasons why kids are so weak mentally today and grow up to be horribly unprepared for the real world is because people keep trying to shield them from things they don't need to be shielded from.
@-Hermit- I mean back then I had no idea about NATO and Warsaw pact countries and yet they go to full scale war in the movie Future War 198X. Area 88 similarly explores armed conflict from a mercenaries point of view. Not that kid viewers can't handle the topic but it requires some reading of modern history not covered in school yet. Live action movies with similar war or nuclear war topics had it better and were less confusing about their target audience

I can confirm that I hated those kinds of movies as a kid, because I didn't understand what the characters were fighting over. Why did grownups think I'd be interested in references to events that happened before I was born?

Gundam series. I still remember in my country, after Dragon ball GT ended, Gundam Seed was aired on the same slot back in 2006. After that Gundam Wing and Gundam Seed Destiny. Other Gundam series were aired at other channel. There might be more but I rarely watch tv that time. All of them were put on the slot for kids.

Yu-Gi-Oh was a shocker when I found out what was in that
Sailor Moon- even in 95 when I first saw it on USA channel, the swirly design of the boob covering of one of the villains, and the slightly questionable/nearly obvious fact that the main villain was a guy and had a male lover- all was obvious even as a teenager and I thought they must not have checked what they were airing very carefully.

The original Cutie Honey anime in Japan was actually aimed at young girls..... and that just blows my mind
