Was season 4 an upgrade or downgrade? (No manga)

However, my opinion is totally different. For me, season 4 is the one that made aot a top tier anime. In fact everything before s4 (s1-3) were basically build up for the events of s4. This IS the real deal. The story was a lot more complex same as the characters. Stacks and scalings were higher than ever
Of course the previous seasons were also amazing but s4 is one tier above them ( at least for me). But some people just couldn't accept the changes and wanted more action.

What's your opinion?

Depends on you tbh, for me it was a downgrade because I didn't like the new characters and the direction it took. Also, a lot of other things. But i know many people love S4 because of the political exposure and something different from the usual. So, I think both sides are justified into thinking what they believe.
And if you forcefully try to change somebody's opinion, you aren't an idiot. Simple as that.

mhm i did feel like there were parts where it felt rushed and didnt fell in sequence to what happens next. like the episode where all the scouts and reiner gabi with yelena gather in the campfire and stuff and the part where they reuinite with Annie. i think that was one of the letdowns in the anime. it just felt like it didnt make sense and was way too fast. ( also the reason why i think this part has less ratings than rhe part 1)aot s4 has been an inconsistent ride of either hype and depression or confusion and disappointment
