Being honest, Faraday was a sloppy fixer. Rolls into Arakawa whining, "WAH PAY ME, SUPERCORP, ALSO HIRE ME". He didn't seem to have any backup plans, any real network, etc.

Arasaka's primary source of income is fucking people over into oblivion. Dunno why he thought he could whine his way in.

He had a couple business cards from Militech and Arasaka and some Runners on speed dial. So, in the end he was just a moneygrubbing idiot who could have gone so much further if he saw the value in his Runners.

I don't even want to call him evil. He was just another flash in the pan fixer who accidentally ordered too many optical implants from his ripperdoc.

Considering David was experiencing early stage cyberpsychosis, refused to downgrade his chrome to help prevent it, and nearly left Lucy all before she was kidnapped, it's very likely David would've suffered the same fate as Maine and gotten Lucy killed in the process.
