I first want to say thank you that this anime got a very good adaptation, in terms of image quality that spoils the eyes and even makes my heart pound When you see Ms. Shikimori, I admire the hard work of the Staff who did this anime so well, even when they were hit by a pandemic.

I again don't understand why people try to mock Izumi even from a different dimension, I mean that this anime corresponds to what is depicted in the manga,Doesn't change the storyline even the nature of the characterizations, I mean that if you really don't like the manga why are you watching the anime

Lastly, THIS ANIME DESERVES HIGHER POINTS.

Completely agree, I’m so happy we didn’t get the generic romance MC and someone different this time. We also started straight with them already together which was great to see too.

Doga Kobo went above and beyond with the animation and the character designs. All the characters were really good and all well established. The friend group felt real and fun to watch.

This show deserves WAY higher praise. Solid 8/10 show

Sorry to have a different opinion sir (or madame) but I found this anime a little bit bland in character and story developing... not to talk about the staticity of the characters. Furthermore I would say that, since you say it is a good adaptation, it does have to do with the manga itself. To whomever agrees or disagrees, this is my opinion.

Very true, the last episode was perfectly done, it captured the atmosphere well from one of the best chapters
As a whole series, it's a really nice choice ending it like that, while most romcoms don't even get the slightest confessions in their last eps

yeah, I'm not here to reject other people's opinions, I respect them as they should be. I want to convey to the people out there who mock Izumi and even spam a low points. Even Hent*i Anime gets 7/10 points, while clearly this is a healthy anime, fully romantic comedy gets 6.96, I didn't expect this anime to be as good as Kaguya sama who grabbed the top of MAL with the same genre, but then again this anime deserves even higher points.

That's why I created an entirely separate list for hanime, so the lists are not even comparable

I liked this show a lot. I'm confused on how shows like komi cant communicate were the jokes consist of stalking and harassing the main girl are fine but suddenly everyone is appalled by Izumi and his bad luck. I get its repetitive and not funny, but it's a lot better than komi's humor. Honestly if Izumi was female this show wouldn't get half the hate it gets and that's pretty sad

I was going to give this show a 10/10 if Izumi and Shikimori had a mouth to mouth kiss.

But since that didn't happen, I'm keeping my 7/10

This series is very healthy, they even kissed when it happened in chapter 100, and even then it was not shown directly from mouth to mouth.

I would have given it 10 if only:

1. The show wasn't overhyped before it began airing

2. If Shikimori san wouldn't have been said as Marin's next competitor this year

3. If they had shown how did they actually got into relationship with a proper buildup, without it those wholesome and cute moments feel shallow as you don't have any idea how they actually got together

4. If the comedy wasn't that bad which was carried by Shikimori's expression majority of the time

5. Episode 11, that shit was quite lame, I mean this show really caught the pace after Episode 7 & was doing just fine but then that backstory didn't make sense to me, so if they had choosen a different backstory then this might have given this show some chance

6. If only I would have enjoyed it, as a romcom genre fan I just didn't like it

7. Lack of a good OST, except opening, the music or soundtracks used were quite average

So that's why I gave it 4/10

Well it's your opinion and I respect it, but to tell the truth you said some illogical things, or let's say some points that can't be enough to criticize, like why would you judge an entire show based on its hype ?
If the fandom was delusional enough to make it a masterpiece and hyping up a certain character then you simply shouldn't believe them until you watch and judge by yourself, so for you to say that this show is bad because it didn't live up to your expectations doesn't make much sense

Another point is the osts, they were suitable and fitting the whole time and stood out the most in the last ep for example, beside other episodes, and since it's a slice of life anime, they weren't too loud or over dramatic...

And as for ep 11, the build up for the date was good and her backstory was kinda realistic more than the whole events of the anime, so I don't know what exactly you didn't like about it, but it's okay

Well first of all I am glad you respected my opinion but here is what I will say:

I learnt this thing in a hard way yet again that never trust on hype so yeah off course it's kind of idiotic in a sense but it is kind of negative biasedness which I developed towards this show

And NGL, I am really generous towards romcom, slice of life or such shows but this time Shikimori just didn't grab my attention & the OSTs in the last episode were perfect, actually I treat OSTs as another main charm of any anime...... So that's why it matters to me

Build up for the date was alright but the backstory was quite lame according to me, the reason is simple that Shikimori's motivation to become cute & fall in love was just because she read a manga??? She quit her practices just to become a cute girl? Alright let's assume that she was really serious & I know books or things like that can also actually be a decisive factor in someone's goal

What was the efforts made by Izumi before meeting her if Shikimori's motivation were shown in that way???? Alright let's put that aside & come to their date in the last episode, we can clearly see how far & how deeply they are in love but how? Is it just because they have spent a lot time together or was there something else as well??? We still couldn't clearly got the actual confession scenes even in their backstories that's why even though the last episode was so good & wholesome it lacked that feeling I usually find in most of the great romcoms

Ahh well let's see, I might change my opinion once I rewatch it until then I will treat as 4/10

Yeah I agree on that part where Shikimori didn't have that strong goal lol, but it's because the anime tried to make it simple, she wasn't doing the practices out of her own happiness, she only did it because she was attached to her brother and wanted to imitate him just like how real life siblings do, now as for why she left and decided to become a cute girl, well it's true that the manga wasn't much convincing, but leaving it aside, her intention was already there before that because the whole time she was doubting and unsure about her true self and lifestyle

And yeah the origin of their relationship is way too innocent and basic, but just to make things clear they didn't confess that they love eachother before the last episode, they were only dating, so don't assume they're so in love because they're still blushing whenever they complimented eachother

It's understandable if you and other people see it lacking something since their relationship depends and based on the time they spent together more than an actual deep reasons like other masterpiece romcoms, but at the same time we can say that fundamentally, their relationship is still great because they complete eachother, and that's the most important thing in romantic conclusions
