Adaptation Disappointment?

I appreciate the poll, it seems pretty accurate to my perspective.

Like the book is not some great must read tale. Maybe the manga is better?

It's amazing for learning Japanese because it's about the simplest possible story with almost no nuance to any situation while also covering a broad range of situations that resolve quickly.

So this adaptation was honestly spot on. I thought they must have had budget issues when I first watched the fight scenes, but no the extent of the book battles is almost always "Kuma punch, kuma punch, bear punch, fight over." It's stuff like Arifureta, "she professed herself pupil of the wiseman", and "average abilities" that piss me off, since they are destroying really good books with bad adaptations.

It was only today that I watched the second episode.
The first I watched quite some time back, and had the impression that she was playing the game; that she hadn't been isekai'd, but rather was wearing the bear onsie inside the game.
That was a change I wasn't willing to accept.
So much of the humor revolves around her not really being into bears, and everyone thinking she was due to her being powerless outside of the onsie and super OP while wearing it.

Episode 2 clears that up, kinda.
It makes it clear that Episode 1 was a travesty, a mishmash of stuff that happened after the isekai experience being shown inside scenes from before that occurred.
There had been no sense at all that the our world segments in episode 1 were flashbacks.

So, yeah, I've read the LN and the manga through what's currently been released of the official translation.
Episode 1 was enough to make me drop it for all intents and purposes for over a year.
Episode 2 salvaged it for me, so I'll watch the rest.
I don't have any problem with the character design, VAs, &c, just with how they effed things up with the first episode, because that's what caused me to drop it for this long before giving it another chance.
What really torques me off is that all along my thinking was that if they weren't making it seem that it was just an in-game thing, they'd done a fine job with the Black Viper incident.

I'm very disappointed with the misleading aspects of the first episode.
Now that I know that's what was going down, I'm happy to look at the rest.
