It's always like that, for the manga readers.
If you read the manga, it shows a lot of back stories and focuses on small things as well. But in the anime, they are short on time and budget, thus they end up skipping most of the small things.
So imagine you are a manga reader, and you really liked a specific scene or some dialog between two characters. The anime gets released and you are hyped to see that, but they end up skipping that scene or dialog, so how would you feel? You'd rage and bash your keyboard and spam the forums with the comments like you described in your question.
I can go long and talk more about it, but I hope you get my point....
*Happy new Season*

The issue is that re relies on all the character development and bonds that were skipped out on in root A.

This is nothing like berserk. Tokyo ghoul always just poorly adapted the story, but it was still one of studio pieret's waaayyy better looking shows. Visually, it was good quality. Berserk is way worse on the opposite side of the spectrum where the visuals are just total hot garbage, bad enough to legit hurt your eyes. Plus, the story was the same except with no visual compliment, so it was literally worse than just looking at a manga. At the very least tokyo ghoul managed to adapt the crazy smooth detail of the manga artwork into a style that fit easily into a shonen battle show, while enhancing it with certain graphic effects techniques that make it resemble a alt rock band's music video. Especially in the intros and outros, those were amazing. In other words, mindless children (like me when I first watched the show) can still enjoy it, and even some teens or adults if you just wanna look at something without thinking too hard, but the first thing my little brother said to me when I was watching berserk for the first time was that it looked like a bad ps2 game...

If you read the Tokyo Ghoul manga you'd know they basically butchered the story completely. It's not a case of, "oh it's basically the manga just worse". No it was complete trash. The manga is good, :re is very good. Pierrot is trash. Nuff said

Well no, Pierrot is still trash, but this is also still nothing compared to berserk. Like that show was painful to watch in every way except the story. Tokyo ghoul's only downfall as an anime was its story. And I'm not praising its artwork and animation as the best it could've been for the mangas artwork either. It just did the job, but that's still something that berserk did the opposite of. And it's still pretty good as far as mr. slideshow studio pierret goes. Berserk just doesn't look good with cg directed by a dude who has the cg knowledge of a high schooler with half the budget it takes to make a good cg anime. In other words, Tokyo Ghoul did nothing right as an anime (most things were dead wrong), but Berserk did everything wrong.

I think they'll try to stay faithful to the original source and act as if the previous series never existed, only way I can see it working and being actually good.
