What is your sexual orientation?

I'm not going to entirely discount the possibility of like...having a relationship with a guy. But it's pretty unlikely. o: I thought I was attracted to guys when I was younger, but then I realized that I was just forcing myself to like every single one I had a 'crush' on (no one gets over a crush in like two minutes.) I even got in a long involved interwebs relationship with a guy. He's a nice guy and all, but...I honestly have no sense of gender distinction over the internet. Seriously, it's really hard for me to gauge people's gender based on the way that they type, most of the time...and being as that never really progressed to being in real life, I don't know if that matters or not. That being said, I like girls; but I feel that I'm too awkward/weird or whatever to be in a relationship with one (then again I'm probably too immature for a relationship anyways) and my gaydar really isn't that good (plus, I don't like any of the bi/lesbian girls in my school, I'm either just not interested or they're just not very nice people to me) so I haven't actually been in a relationship with one. ;_; Then again, I'm only 17, I can complain about being ronery in 13 years if nothing's changed still. 8DD |

Thus, I wouldn't even categorize myself as a thoroughbred bi-sexual, having had relatively few separate experiences with the same gender. However, I take interest in the person, not the gender, and as I said - I've had crushes on guys as well. (Not the "oh my god that guy is hot *throb*" -kind of crushes, but serious ones). Although I do find lots of guys arousing, just due to their looks. ;D Perhaps I'll meet my prince-charming one day and become a full-fledged faggot, who knows. It's just that I'm pretty picky. (where are the sensitive bishie-y guys in real life :(..?) So you think of yourself like 90% straight and 10% gay? |

Meh, that's a pretty boring approach on the subject. ;p I mean, crushes, relationships and that stuff - it just happens, regardless of the gender. I don't really want to label myself like that, but perhaps I'd be like 80-20 straight/gay if the "statistics" were to be taken into account. But in the other hand, that's an understatement, seeing as I get equally aroused watching gay porn & straight porn, or kissing a lovely guy or a girl - depending on the case. See, it always depends on the person, not the gender. It just seems that the odds for me falling for men are smaller, than me falling for women, as my taste is what it is. PandaPuff said: What a nice club this is! :) As for me, I'm extremely bi-curious. I have a huge crush on one of my girlfriends (Sara) and I would die if she were my first kiss with a girl. *___* Yet our friendship is still in semi-begginer stages and I don't know how she feels about the whole thing in general. But we always act like we're a couple and our friends and new friends are like WTF haha. This one time one of our friends brought his friend to hang out and she reached out to hold my hand and of course I go along with it. He's all like, "Are you guys...going out? I mean, I'm cool with it and all." I wanted to say yes in a playful manner but I didn't wanna freak Sara out but she says "Yes!" That guy probably had things running through his head. Meanwhile I was shocked. *sigh* Handholding, feeding each other, waiting on line for a concert while I hold her, sometimes she gets in a really close and backs me up in a corner while our friends are "O___O" /ramble that's exactly how me and my friend BJ act. She told me she's not bi, unlike me, but yet she always acts like it and hits on me and it drives me nuts sometimes. the other day she kissed me on the cheek, and i was thinking about kissing her, but i didnt wanna freak her out. |

well it really depends on how most people view sexuality in your area...if people are strictly conservative around you then it will be a quite delicate topic to open...so it would be highly advisable to wait until your of legal age and independent and then carefully open up the topic...its always good to tell also to such people that you rather be honest with them then having to lie..it usually softens people...but if most people in your area are open to such then it wont be a problem to come out right away.. |

If they're understanding "most of the time" then I don't think you have much to be concerned about. Granted, I don't know your friends, but mine (also male) are exactly the same way and they're amazingly supportive. Hell, my dad offered to stop making gay jokes with my brother if it offended me. So who knows? Maybe you're worried over nothing. Wish I could give more advice, though. My situation was unique, for lack of a better word, and I don't even really know how I did it myself. Remember though that there's no "right" or "wrong" way to come out-- just do what works for you. Go for it and good luck~ |

Approaching a female friend first is good idea. But if your friends seem supportive and aren't really the types of guys that are extremely homophobic (the type that freaks out about anything that would seem gay to them) then I'm sure they will take it well just like Zekium said. |

Homophobic friends can be fun to, even if you're gay/bi. It's just great to tease them a bit. (6) A guy from my class is überhomophobic ((Sorry for using German)) and it's very funny to tease him. He ((Na-kun)) was talking with 'Ri-kun' ((not their real names, but it's more clear to use names)) when the word 'yaoi' fell. And after I said I knew what it was the kept calling me gay. And they wouldn't stop, therefor I made good use of it so I could tease Na-kun a bit. ((He now starts screaming whenever I even lay a hand on his shoulder to get his attention XD)) and then I one of my friends started telling them I was 'Part time gay' but even after that it took them a month to notice I was bi. And now I'm still teased with it, but whenever it goes to far, I just try to hug them and they will stop in no time. |

Bi, or mostly omnisexual because I am also attracted to other things like crossdressers or such. I just don't mind as long it's with a good person. About my main attraction... I find boys very attractive, but I have tendency to sentimentally fall for girls. But still, girls or boys... Everyone is special their own way ^_^ |

Hmm~ thought I should answer this thread :D I'm straight but I don't have any problems with gay/bi people at all ^^ although, my friends and family might think that I'm bi since one of my female friends tends to kiss me a lot and in public, and I never try and stop her D: I just find it amusing, especially since we both have boyfriends ^^; my bf thinks its weird though >.> |

I'm pansexual/omnisexual in that I only care about the person and not what they keep in their pants or their gender identity, but if anyone asked me about my sexuality in person I would just go for straight to avoid confusion and having to explain myself further. I guess I could go for bi, but there are a lot more girls than guys in this world that I find attractive, and I've never had a relationship with a guy before, so I'm not sure if I'm bi enough to be bi. ^^; |

For me Bi for sure, but leaning more to guys (from now..maybe..hha). But for some reason i'm not really attracted to anyone. I mean i would have a crush on someone then it would fade away after a week or two..hha!! But I would never have a crush on a friend, especially with my female friends since i have more female friends and i just don't want it to be wired, oh and none of my friends, who i still talk to, knows..@_@!! |

Perhaps, friend, you are an asexual - though it doesn't deny you the capacity for love or sexual relationship, it just means that you don't feel that sexual attraction straight away, but that it should be a developed thing. Perhaps. |

I haven't answered the poll yet because I'm still wavering between the limited choices. Sexually I am not attracted to either genders as far as I know but I have felt strongly attached to both genders in the past. I believe in the theory of "innate bisexuality" which clarifies, in my mind, my belief that sexual orientation does not exist. I never believed this the first year I was exposed to the idea of sexual orientation but I began to after I became irritated of people saying "lesbian", "homo" and every other term that defines a "homosexual" person and I came to despise these terms. That's probably just one reason why I believe in "innate bisexuality" (the other would be my increasing desire to make everything objective). But now that I think of it, I'm still unsure of what I believe in. Bah! Thinking about this is making my head hurt worse than thinking of God. |

You said the people there don't accept homosexuals, but does that turn into discrimination, expulsion from clubs or so or even in agression? ((Cause I've had it all here :P)) |

Good for you, anyway, for rising above the prejudices of others. At least in my experience, you are more likely to encounter anti-gay prejudice in the southern states. Especially in smaller communities. However, there are always exceptions, and it is a pretty wide generalization. The northwest has a reputation (along with New England states) to be pretty accepting, but I happen to live in a bit of an exception to that rule as well. |

Agreed. There are generalizations than can be made in the US, but there are also exceptions to every rule. I tend to encounter more people who just don't seem to understand my preferences, rather than those who would really give me any flack for it. The Northeast has a fair amount of support for open-mindedness...I mean, hell, look at Masachusetts. Even the mighty capital of sexual freedom, San Francisco doesn't have legalized same sex marriage....unless something changed on either front that I don't know about (which is possible, I don't keep my finger on the pulse of the news). Little by little, humanity learns to reaccept what we already knew and didn't have as much of a problem with several centuries ago, heh. |

Its not horrible but when you travel to the southern places its more likely that you be turned down especially if you head to mid Alabama. I lived there recently and they wouldnt have a thing to do with it. South Alabama is fair about it cause there close to Florida where the gay population tends to be higher. I live in Northern Alabama and the homosexual count has spiked in all the highschools and colleges. But soon we shall take over the mid state MUHAHAHAHA. No, i think they will become more comfortable with a gay community, eventually. |
