This drama started airing last week and its really good. I'd post a summary but it gives away quite a bit. ueno juri (nodame) is one of the main characters, and so is Eita (mine) and Mizukawa Asami (kiyora) well, those are the people i recognized. Anyway, who's watching it? and how are you liking it ? I just finished episode 2 and i love it. Its reminding me a lot of NANA so far, hopefully it branches out though because i don't want to make comparisons to NANA while i watch the whole show. my thoughts (ep1 & 2): Sousuke is such a bastard! I can't believe it. and omg, ruka kissed michiru! I really want to see takeru and ruka's relationship grow. I get the feeling michiru will eventually move in with them. but whose baby does she have? and what's this accident? oh i love the theme song. Gotta love Utada Hikaru, it also fits the show really well (so far) |

I'm also watching this! I didn't bother to read the description very closely before watching it so it was a bit of a shock when I finally got to episode 1. But it's so well-casted! I've been familiar with Eita for a long time (Orange Days was one of the first jdramas I ever watched, and I loved Water Boys) so I basically watched it for him. He's awesome. Ueno Juri is so different from Nodame and her other recent roles, but in a good way. I'm looking forward to how her character develops over the course of the series. I fell in love with Mizukawa Ayumi after Nodame. She's gorgeous! Prisoner of Love is an awesome song. @_@ I don't normally like Utada Hikaru (Her HYD insert song was overrated), but I couldn't get enough of this song in episode 1! episode 1: Holy crap! When Sousuke started beating her I was really shocked. Somehow I felt like that's what was going to happen after she caught him looking at her cellphone, but I wish I had read the synopsis for this series more closely. I think then I wouldn't have been so surprised. I was like: O_O "Whaaaaaaaaaaaa? Can they even show that on TV? He's so BRUTAL!" XD I'm not so much into how this is happening in the "past" though. Because I suspect that Michiru will become pregnant by Sousuke, and then he'll abandon her. I think it's Ruka who dies, as well. Which would really suck. >_< |

My first impression was takeru, but as a second feeling i'm defneitely thinking something will happen to ruka, and it will be sousuke's fault. ... my whole post is a spoiler XD |

Just watched episode 2, at last, and it made me want to watch episode 3 right away! Sometimes I forget what torture it can be watching a series as it airs. XD episode 2 So Ruka is considering a sex change as well? Well I figured she was gay after the kiss in episode 1, but I didn't quite pick up on this. But thinking about it, they've been alluding to it nicely. I like how nothing is too obvious or too subtle in this series so far. You're able to figure stuff out (like above) but the show can still surprise you. Great story telling, imo. More episode 2 I liked when Michiru was about to cut Takeru's hair and she deftly avoided that evil hairdresser's murderous heel. Slowly I can see Michiru building up a backbone and I'm excitedly awaiting for her to take back control of her life from Sousuke. I feel kind of bad for Nishikido Ryo having to play such a dark character, but it must be great for him as well to test his acting skills. I hope that they explore the two sides to Sousuke as the series progresses, because he works for child welfare, doesn't he? And he seemed honestly concerned for that little boy who was beaten, so I'm wondering if he even realizes how much of a hypocrite he is, and how much his job has affected him mentally. I don't think he was always such a bad guy, and I wonder what he believes beating Michiru is accomplishing? I wonder if Sousuke or his mother was beaten when he was a child? Hmmm... So far, he's the most interesting character to me, even though my initial reaction was to hate him for being a "wife-beater." Oh, and Takeru's past trauma was rape? I got that feeling as well. Kioku, please sub episode 3 quickly! XD I'm almost tempted to switch to the soft subs... |

omg episode 3 Takeru moved in! i really love him to pieces in this show. Sousuke is really creeping me out. I was so happy michiru stood up to him at the end but then he beat the crap out of her ;.;. this show is just really good i can't STAND waiting a week for a new episode =( |

I watched episode 3 today! Alright, so Michiru is going to go back to Sousuke, judging by the preview. I enjoyed Takeru! I love his little crush on Ruka. I really want to find out the rest of his story. But I also want to know more about Sousuke! Am I the only one? I feel bad for him because he's so screwed up and doesn't realize it. I hope he figures it out by the end of the series. =( |

I completely agree!!!! My thoughts EXACTLY! Episodes 1 & 2: When Michiru slept at Ruka's house, I was betting that in the morning she'd have a visible bruise on her cheek... then Ruka would see it and be totally pissed. And then there was no bruise... but she kissed her! O_O total shock! Okay... As soon as I saw the Ruka character, I suspected she might be gay... but I've thought that lots of times with other drama characters and then I was wrong... plus I know how picky the TV people are, not wanting to show anything so shocking. My beloved Ryo Nishikido... you looked so sweet and innocent at the beginning... then went into mega-bastard mode. I'm happy for him because this will demonstrate his acting skills. So far he's only played "good" characters, or "tormented rebel who has a heart of gold underneath". xD his agressiveness here really creeped me out! good acting! I think that the actors I saw in Nodame Cantabile are now sort of "labeled" for me. So I'll always think of Eita as Mine. xD watching him in this particular drama was just another reminder that he's a pretty good actor... with a perpetual bad hair day. xDDD I love him to bits, but I can't help it... my eyes always stray to his hair... my fingers itch to grab a brush and attack it.... Yup... this drama has a huge NANA vibe. But while in Taiwanese dramas the "we can hear their thoughts" thing annoys the hell out of me, here so far it's turning out well. I hope they don't make this too unrealistic... like make a billion plot twists in every episode just to grab the viewers attention! It's okay in the first couple of episodes... but if every episode will be like that... then this will lose any semblance of reality. |

finally started this one. don't know why cause there are a few other dramas that i have to finish and a bunch of anime that i'm behind one. oh well xD loved the first episode. great seeing some of the nodame cast again. it really took and interesting turn during the second half. and Prisoner of Love is a spectacular song. I've been listening to it a bunch before starting that. the OP was great. |

Just finished episode 4! Not too much went on. I really want to know more about Sousuke, and Takeru as well. Those two are my favorite characters, and I feel like they'll clash at some point. On the other hand, I am really starting to dislike Michiru and the actress who plays her. |

OH MY GOD. preview for episode 5 is craaazy. Sousuke has sex with Michiru?!! i bet thats why she's pregnant.... Then he commits suicide?!! Eri kisses takeru?! and ruka starts to say that she likes someone !!!! ahhhhh. i cnat wait for it episode 4 This was a really good episode. it was a little less dramatic than normal though. This episode really made me understand a little bit more about sousuke, which I really needed. I had no idea he had a similar background to michiru, with the whole parents not really caring situation. maybe he was also abused and thats why he treats michiru that way? I also felt really bad for him at the end when he was waiting for michiru the whole time. he seriously looked really sad and lonely. He obviously has a lot of issues which is why he treats michiru horrible even though he really does care about her. Anwyway, i loved how they built up the friendship between takeru and ruka up. I was really waiting for takeru to start sharing some story about how he was treated in the past (when ruka was talking about how she was 'attacked'), since i get the feeling he's got some issue with relationships because of something in the past. Anyway, they are too cute. I loved how he decided he was going to "protect ruka". i really want them to get together, or something. okay , i'm done ranting. :3 |

I just don't like the sound of Michiru's voice, and she's so... soft. She annoys me. XD @Katsup: lol! We totally did post at the same time. XD @Faust: Yup, I watched it with soft subs as well, because Kioku will be a few weeks late this time. About episode 4's preview: No, he THREATENS to commit suicide, or rather he tells Michiru that's what he's going to do. I don't think he'll actually do it, tho. It's yet another example of how he manipulates Michiru. And yeah, it looks like he will try to rape her too. And more on ep 4: Michiru mentioned that Sousuke's mother had a boyfriend and I have no doubt that he beat Sousuke's Mother when she was home late and stuff. Maybe he beat Sousuke as well. This is why I like Sousuke's character so much. It's easy to just make him out to be a villain, but there's so much more to him than meets the eyes. Like how he waits for her all the time is partly because he's really screwed up in the head, but he's also really lonely and I think he honestly loves Michiru. He just can't express that love normally because he's all messed up from his childhood. I really want Sousuke to get some help in the end. =/ |

@Susan regards to preview. Yeah, i dont think he will go through with it but its still a huge threat to make. anyway, I just noticed that in the relationship chart posted on dramawiki, that michiru has a heart arrow to takeru. Does that mean that they will eventually end up toghether?!! If so, then that ruka probably most likely dies due to something sousuke did .... or something oh, but i love how the arrow from sousuke to michiru simply says "DV" XD |

By that chart it looks like Michiru ends up falling for Takeru! (But notice how the arrow only points one way...) There's also a love arrow between Michiru and Sousuke. The forgot to put some love arrows between Eri and Ogurin. XD |

episode 5 softsubs are out~ So, Ruka really is trying to have a gender change. This show really is so painful to watch. I feel so bad for every character in this show it's rediculous. Takeru looked so sad when he found out Ruka likes someone, though I'm a little surprised he didn't pick up that the person Ruka likes is Michiru. I mean, he seems to pick up a lot of things. Michiru is too dumb to realize it. After the sleepover I thought Ruka made it really obvious. Episode five had a Kanto rating of 19.9!!! thats so good!! :) |

Just caught up to watching episode 5! I'm not sure if Takeru is really gay or not... even if he admitted that to Eri, I think he *may* be confused, although I can also see that in his character. I liked how strong Michiru was in this episode. In just a short time she's grown a LOT as a character. Before she was just so pitiable that it got annoying. Oh Sousuke! My poor, poor, Sousuke. I love him and I really wish he would clue in to how screwed up he is! I really want him to get help and to get better, just like Michiru does. =( Kind of looking forward to the next episode. Next time we'll be halfway through! Also, it's awesome that the ratings went up! =D |

Episode 6! TAKERU TOLD RUKA HE LIKES HER!!! Just when she was about to tell him how she like michiru and wants a gender change! Ahhhh!! Though i really wanted to see him confess to her so i'm happy about that :) Takeru also was awesome for going to Sousuke's apartment and getting michiru out of there, bringing her the hospital, and telling sousuke he'd call the police. I love takeru! But what Sousuke did to Ruka was awful. But I wish Ruka would stop being half angry and Michiru. I mean, I understand why she's acting the way she is, but she should be happy that michiru got away from sousuke and all. Ogurin needs a backbone. I feel bad for Eri. (: |

I'm totally in love with this drama.. Is so intense, so dramatic and beautiful written.. Ueno Juri is a great actress, i've seen Nodame Cantabile last year, and now, she just appear like this, loved her character, Prisoner of Love is already my rigtone, hehe, Hikki-sama is too much! >D |

Episode 6: Takeru was simply awesome. Eita is by far the best actor in this drama, and he plays the moste interesting and promising character. Ruka's situation is almost too obvious and although Ueno Juri is a strong actress I can't help get annoyed at the predictability of Ruka. Michiru, as well, is predictable and irritatingly indecisive at times. I sympathize with her because I too see Sousuke as a sympathetic character. But that doesn't mean I like her. I'm annoyed at how flat Eri and Ogurin tend to be. I'm still not counting Sousuke out. He'll be back! Showdown between Takeru and Sousuke? That would be kind of cool. It will probably be Ruka who confronts him, but bails, and maybe Takeru will step in from the shadows and end up getting hurt. I really really REALLY want them to spend a bit more time showing us SOUSUKE, not "Michiru's abusive boyfriend." Will they ever explain his dual personality? =/ |

Episode 7 soft subs are already out! YAY! edit: already watched it! Episode 7: Ruke is undeniably the cruelest character. You might think it's Sousuke, but no. The way she treats Takeru after he confesses to her, and the way she's been treating Michiru, and most of all the way she treats HERSELF is undeniably cruel. =/ I thought we would at last find out more about Takeru's past this episode, but we continue to get only suggestions and vagueness. Of course, it's obvious that he was sexually abused by his older sister when he was a boy, hence his fear of women. but I'd like them to SAY that. I really enjoyed the side-story with Sousuke and the boy this episode. That boy's situation reminds me of the movie Nobody Knows, where a group of siblings were abandoned by their mother and left to fend for themselves. I liked how Sousuke took the boy in and starts to take care of him. That was very sweet. It once again makes me want to know absolutely everything about Sousuke. I suspect he too was abandoned by his mother, and he probably witnessed and/or experienced domestic violence. So on the one hand he has a sense of justice and sympathy for children like him, but on the other hand he can't seem to help this obsession with Michiru which is probably the result of a very lonely childhood. I really hope that he and the boy turn out to be okay next week. I suspect, though, that Sousuke will be injured somehow and Michiru will again run back to him. Michiru annoyed me even more so this episode. Yes, she broke up with Sousuke, but not long after that she latches onto Takeru! Of course, Ruka appears like she feels betrayed by the person that loves her and the person that she loves she loves. Sigh. OUT WITH IT RUKA! EITA IS AWESOME. =D I can't believe the series is already more than half over. Will they really be able to wrap things up in time? Something is going to end abruptly or be left unresolved if they keep focusing on Michiru's indecisiveness. |

episode 7 I totally agree with you susan. Ruka is such a cruel character. She just seems to love to spread depression to everyone, and she can't even deal with her own issus as well. She could easily tell Takeru, I think he'd support Ruka no matter what. He already knows she lied to him and he obviously still cares for her. Ruka is just being rediculous. I also want to know what happened to Takeru in his past. I LIKE CLARIFICATION. :) Though I really do understand why Michiru latched onto him so quick. Even Ruka said it, she's a really weak person who needs to be supported, and Ruka has sort of been hinting that the two of them should be together so I'm not surprised that Michiru has decided to like Takeru. I don't think the story is slow because of MICHIRU's decisiveness at this point.... Ruka is the one that needs to come out and say something, since it's just dragging out too long. It's to the point where I almost really can't stand her as a character because of how foolish she is being. Sousuke.. hm.... I want to hear more backstory. I have a feeling maybe something happened when he was a little boy with his mom, and the little kid is sort of reminding him of it. I don't know. I really want to hear more about Sousuke.... Oh, and can I say how i absolutely LOVE Eita? <3 lol |

Episode 8 has aired. Hopefully subs will appear in a couple days! Pre-subs glance: Sousuke is in the hospital... but he disappears from his room at the end. @_@ Also, Ruka moves out of the share house, but ends up sharing a touching moment with Takeru. From what I understand, he's found out Ruka's big secret and he confesses that despite that he STILL loves her. That no matter what his feelings for her won't change, or Ruka won't change? Then they share a tearful hug! Awwwwwwhhhh!!!! =D ... Of course, Michiru sees them together then and looks utterly crushed. Last Friends fans should definitely check out the movie Summer Time Machine Blues which starred both Eita and Ueno Juri. Coincidently, Eita played a boy with a crush on Ueno Juri's character. The romance took a backseat to the time-traveling fun but the ending will make you laugh! |

oh. my . god. The preview for episode 9 looks so intense!!!! Sousuke attacks Takeru T_T!!! nooooo Anyway, episode 8 I thought this was a great episode. I just adore Takeru, and I really thought it was so cute of him to just be like "No matter what I still like you Ruka". Too cute. Even though I was really pissed at Ruka for being too scared to tell anyone beforehand, the letter she wrote to Takeru was just so cute... and I loved it. Gah~. I am REALLY not a fan of Michiru liking Takeru. It feels so forced..... and...bleh. I liked how Eri played somewhat of a bigger role in this episode. I liked the part where she commented on the unconditional love in the letters. I wish there were more development for her and Ogurin though. Compared to Takeru, Ruka, and Michiru they seem pretty flat. Sousuke.. ohhh sousuke. I love him and hate him. I hate his character, but at the same time I love him and I just secretly want him to become a decent guy. He's just too adorable D=. Though he was a little creepy with all those letters. Anyway, good episode. :) <3 Susan: I really want to see that movie~ haha |

I just watched a last friends special on crunchyroll. You can watch it here It's pretty enteretaining. Eita, Ueno Juri, and Nagasawa Masami talk about how they got into showbuisness. Then they show the different anime roles each person has played (Like Nagasawa played Minami in the Touch movie, etc). Then they have a thing where the guys eat their favorite food and comment on it. Them eating the steak was absolutely hysterical haha. |

@aly: Takeru and Michiru are totally wrong for each other, though. I want Takeru to be able to find true love one day, but not with her! I don't think Ruka is right for him either. Michiru's feelings are really misplaced. He tries to be a really nice guy and she's just looking for another person to rely on, rather than herself. Looks like Sousuke will be the villain right up until the end. I really hoped they would find time to tell us more about him and give him a more human face, but in the end he's just the antagonist. That sucks. I'm looking forward to episode 10! |

Why must you be sooo cute sosuke D= it kills me! episode9 I nearly cried watching Takeru get beat up by psycho-adorable sousuke D=.It just... looked so painful ;.;. What the hell is sousuke going to do to ruka though?! ahhh... sousuke Anyway, I agree with susan that I dont think Ruka or Michiru are really the right people for Takeru. I really don't think Michiru truly likes him, and Ruka doesnt really see him more than a friend. The whole thing with the sister in the house was realllyyy awkward. i really want a clear explanation as to what happened between them. I'm sick of guessing and assuming haha. Just watched the end. This show was absolutely amazing as a whole. Seriously. ep11(end) I figured from the beggining she would end up with sousuke's child... but i loved watching michiru's internal reaction to sousuke's death and her decision to keep the child. Ogurin and Eri's wedding seemed really forced and random. But whatever, at least they got together! I loved the end though. With ruka and takeru going to get michiru, their night at the beach, the meeting at the hospital, and when michiru gave birth. It was just so extremely heartwarming I cried at the end with michiru's final monolouge. I sort of wanted more backstory with eri and ogurin the whole time, but supposedly Eri got more background in some special called "eri my darling" ? But ohman, this is defenitely one of my favorite shows ever. Sousuke and Takeru were SO my favorite characters.... XD... seriously. This show made me a nishikido ryo fan. Anyway, theres a special next week! yay |

I wouldn't say this was one of my favourite shows. It was pretty entertaining (though probably 50% of my entertainment came from watching & discussing with you guys). The truth is: if they hadn't picked this cast, then this drama would be a FAILURE. It's successful thanks to the awesome perfomances by the actors that we all love already. My thoughts on the final episode: Okay... this felt VERY rushed. So many things happened and they "threatened" us with so many plot twists that I kinda wanted to kill the producers for the show. How many times did the characters face death in this episode? Well.... A LOT. Anyways... too bad Eri and Oguri didn't get too much time for their story. Also, when Oguri showed up with the bouquet... I had NOOOOOOO idea he'd immediately propose. In fact, the whole proposal was skipped and they jumped to the wedding. -- If I was in Eri's place, I'd scream at him in the airport: "You wanna marry me now? Get on your knees and BEG!" xDDD after all he's done... Takeru.... oh my beloved Takeru... you didn't get the confession scene you deserved! I was hoping for a long, tragic, with violins playing in the background, emotional confession. I guess those producers were a bunch of prudes after all!! They made us GUESS what happened but didn't have the guts to actually put it into words or a flashback scene. Michiru... pff... it figures she'd give a whole "Poor Sousuke! He loved me so much! Now I have his baby and it's a divine sign that he forgives me!". -_- although I'm happy that she kept the baby (sorta), I could have done without the silly speech. -- AND did you notice that in the end Michiru never really talked about Ruka's homossexuality or tried to confirm if she was in love with her? They just totally avoided that subject! At least Eri actually told Ruka she accepted her! Okay... I think I'm done ranting about what displeased me... now for more positive comments... Those scenes with Takeru and Ruka were sooo sweet! ^^ (but I was enraged when Ruka interrupted his confession!!! -_- "you don't have to say it" YES HE DOES!). Takeru, as always, was thoughtful and helped Ruka reunite with Michiru. AHHHHHHHHH! I was so happy with the scene where Ruka and Takeru said they'd be there to raise Michiru's child! Especially Takeru, he was so sweet! But............. am I the only one who, when Michiru gasped and clutched her belly, immediately thought "OH NO! SHE'S GONNA MISCARRY!". It didn't even occur to me that she might be in labor... I'm so used to seeing tragedy happen in this drama! xD This drama never made me cry. Hmmmm... I'm betting the Special next week won't be a sequel to the story. It's probably interviews with the actors, some behind-the-scenes footage, etc... Wow. My rant was MUCH bigger than I planned. |

Just finished the finale. Pretty much what katsup said, but I didn't cry or feel much at all during the final episode, and this series is not one of my favorites despite its overall awesomeness. The relationship between Takeru, Ruka and Michiru was the highlight of the finale for sure. Damn those were some great scenes! Eita and Ueno Juri especially had great chemistry together! Yes, the biggest drawback was how the producers glossed over the more controversial themes. I was most annoyed at how much the series focused on Michiru's goddamn indecisiveness. Every. Single. Episode. >_< I don't really care that much about Eri or Ogurin. The producers just didn't give me enough to care about and by the finale they might as well have not even been there. In the end they were bookends for the real stars of the show. I really wish more time had been spent on developing characters BESIDES Michiru. By the end of the series I just wanted to strangle her. >_< On the other hand, I really felt sympathetic towards Sousuke for falling for such a loser girlfriend. =P I'm disappointed they chose not to develop his character's past at all until that little blurb at the last minute. WTF?!? Anyways, Last Friends was good. Everyone should watch it! But... there are probably better dramatic dramas out there. My fave character was Sousuke, and second Takeru. Damn they had some great male leads. @_@ (Ogurin doesn't even count though.) |

Yes! Strangle Michiru! Should you put a spoiler tag there? I mean, at least it spoils who's alive in the end. |

I never talked about anyone dieing. =P You're the one that just blurted out a big spoiler. XD There's nothing about my post that spoils, so I left out the spoiler tags. I didn't blurt out any(one's) secrets or what happens in the end. What I posted I see as general commentary on the show and that's it. But if you can see a SPECIFIC part of my post where I say something like SOUSUKE DIES! |

Ahah! xD I did NOT spoil! What an outrageous accusation! :P I was just wondering. Since more than once I ended up writing the spoiler code wrong and the spoilers were there for all to see. xD |

HEY! The FIRST episode implies that someone dies! Don't you remember when we started watching it and making theories about who it could be?! |

I just watched the Special... and it was like I predicted. Mostly recap with very few new footage. T_T Takeru forgave his sister... that's all the "action" he got in this special. What a pity! And they didn't even mention Ruka's problems... what she decided about the operation... if she confessed her feelings... But LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL at Oguri's new haircut!! xD |

I watched the edited version on D-Addicts that only contained the new footage. It was much better if you just watch that 8 minutes or so. I was a bit annoyed that in the actual new footage Ruka had NO lines. @_@ This special was obviously hastily done. I would've preferred if they waited a few months and made a proper special episode. It won't happen, though. The producers seem to want to avoid going into detail about certain topics. |

I think even the "One Litre of Tears" special was better. It was pretty much in the same style (mostly recaps), but they used the new footage wisely. Yeah, Ruka didn't even make an appearance! T_T only at the end, to show "hey I'm alive!". xD Now I'd like to see the side-story "Eri my love" |

I like it a lot, but I haven't finished it. I can't find episode 10 (subbed) anywhere. If anyone knows where you can watch it please tell me >.<. I really hope Sousuke gets better and learns to use words and not violence xD. |
