Which Shikamaru saying do you prefer, his Japanese or English saying; "Troublesome" is better in my opinion.

I sort of like them both...I usually say both of those sayings at one point or the other in the day.

But I prefer "troublesome"...it seems to go better with Shikamaru in my opinion.

Guess you just can't beat the original when it comes to sounding lazy.

Troublesome, for sure. As Tori said, it just matches his lazy personality best, wrapping it all up in one word. :D

Plus, I don't watch the dub. I saw less than one episode of it, and that in itself was too much. Can't stand the voices...

Subs ftw! :D

I only watched 2 episodes in dub - ep1&10, so i don't know much about whats going on in the dubbed version except that it sucks.

i understand that Naruto always says "Believe IT!", which a stupid ghey invention of the dubbers (who i think should be shot for slaughtering yet another Anime and lowering from her greatness to all the viewers who watch dubs only.

I like "Troublesome" more, probably 'cause i'm used to it and everything is Troublesome for Shikamaru. However i can't deny that "What a drag" is a more accurate way to verbally pronounce your laziness.

I've sort of kept up with the dub version alittle and Naruto use the say "BELIEVE IT" a lot, but he stopped saying it because I think they figured it was gay and annoying, which it was, he would say it every other sentence and I think Shikamaru says "Troublesome" more than his counter english dub version says the "What a drag" saying, but none the less it is his saying.

"What a drag" just doesn't translate right situationally and it doesn't convey the same meaning. Whereas Shikamaru's simply too lazy to do something in Japanese, he's way too cool for it in English.

Troublesome.

No doubt about it. It's stupid that they even changed Shikamaru's like main saying.

"How troublesome"
Just sounds like too much of a mouthful for Shika to be bothered to say.

"What a drag.." It just rolls off the tounge, more suited to him.

I love in the Naruto game I rented...when you play Shikamaru he also says "Ehh..If I have to..." AWesome laziness! Shikamaru defined! I kinda like both ways in the poll but I voted for the original-

Troublesome. It's only one word so it makes more sense if you're lazy to me... XD

i never liked the english dub, the original is the best. everyone should try to watch it in japanese at least once, youll understand.

i dont know japanese but, i dont think "mendokuse" means directly "troublesome" or "what a drag"... its something different i cant tell. you should watch the original to see this difference.

I watch both subbed and dubbed, but I'd have to choose "what a drag..." matches his personality more. "Troublesome" just makes it seem that he'll do something that he's asked, even if he doesn't want to but like he's more indifferent to it than lazy as he should be xD
