I thought onemanga didn't have mangas with heavy sexual/pornographic content to begin with.

They removed many mangas I read :(

I didn't realise OneManga has some serious nudity/sexual content. I always though it tried to avoid any sexual material. The worst I have read on there is Wolf Guy and to be honest I hope it does get removed. The creator is pretty tapped and although having a rape in it is pretty bad, it has gone too far now with a school massacre and some kid having his tongue bit out with the guy who'd done it then crapping on him.

Edit. Just checked to see if anything else has been removed and it seems non-mature series are also starting to be cut or suspended on OneManga as they are being asked to remove them by the publishers. Claymore and Suzuka have been suspended and probably more.

Yeah but it's not like he protrayed it as something good unlike gazillion shoujo mangas where the heroine gets raped and eventually falls in love with the rapist *Mayu Shinjo I'm looking at you*
He wanted to emphasize the monsterous nature of Haguro and his gang contrary to Akira's who believe that he was a monster in the eyes of humans.

So i'm thinking I should get started on reading Berserk and Vagabond before they're banished from the interwebs forever(well atleast until this crap calms down).

I think the bigger annoyances are Air Gear, Claymore, and Highschool of the Dead being gone. :I

I find it a little odd how much people are complaining about this. MangaFox is a FREE online website with various sources that uploads manga that you can read for FREE instead of costing you a fortune. So they removed some stuff, maybe to save their hide, or maybe it was done without their consent. That doesn't change the fact that they have so many other manga on their site that's readily available for your convenience. Mangafox doesn't owe us anything, but yet they're willing to spend time and money to gather all those manga for our pleasure of reading. Sure, the ads are annoying but it's necessary to keep them alive.

An analogy for this would be a bunch of people that's given free meals every day. Wonderful portions, so many varieties for free. But yet one day, the free meal varieties had to cut down on one of it's many categories. So instead of appreciating the free meals still of still many varieties, the kids just bitch and moan about how they should get more, when the people owes them nothing.

Couldn't have said it better myself. While I'm against the idea of censorship and not crazy about this move myself, I can still see Mangafox and OneManga's position in this. Advertisers are what help pay their bandwidth bills. Also, I don't think anyone has pointed this out yet, but there could be legal issues with this as well seeing as you need to accept a license agreement to use Google's adsense service. Which puts those sites in a bad spot, so you really can't blame them for removing questionable material while they are under investigation. And it's my understanding that those sites are currently reevaluating the removed series.

In any case, people bitching need to learn to deal and search elsewhere if one site doesn't have what they want or go straight to the scanlators' sites/IRC channels and get their manga there. It's not like it's hard to find any of those series in question.

I think that part of the reason is because of the crackdown on 'underaged pornographic images' tbf i can see why, as child pornography in the flesh, so to speak, is a crime, i think they're evaluating how bad the drawn counterpart is. And under terms, and keeping a reputable image, its understandable why google would not want to be associated with sites that host those images. Though i think that removing all yaoi/yuri was a tad extreme, as not all seires are shota or lolli, or even that 'mature'.

though why did they keep the Ecchi genre, and remove yaoi/yuri/shota/lolli/smut ?

This is my opinion: Google is a big company that shoves it's weight around demanding things.. as others have mentioned - Youtube explains that. They cannot control the worldwide internet by filtering and filtering.
I am a yaoi and yuri fan and the action both Google and NOEZ took was insane. Yes, maybe I would show a bit of empathy towards both if I were in their shoes. However, it is art - and I do not like being told what to use my eyes for.
There are many varieties of manga; with different story-lines and drawings. They should each manually read the manga they take off, because some have a good story line which balances out the "other" images.
As loads of you have mentioned; there are loads of films, programmes and games etc displaying violence. If you are responsible, then you would not go out and copy what you see. It goes for manga too. There are very few cases where people are not responsible, but it is not fair for us to get pigeonholed aswell.

Onemanga is totally useless now. I used to use Mangafox and Onemanga exclusively, but when the shit hit the fan I went looking for new sites and found good replacements.

Mangafox is still cool for the most part. They just banned loli content and no longer seem to put mature updates on the main page.

Half my list is gone from onemanga.

seriously people how can you all be so panicky about a few manga beeing deleted from mangafox and onemanga, for one there are like a dozen of other site where you can watch them and like someone said before, be gratefull they uploaded in the first place , it's not like anyone is forcing them to do it, they are probably doing it for fun, how can keeping a site up to date be fun if google's up your ass all the time about mature content of some of your updates???......so, if you're going to blame someone for not beeing able to read you're fav's then blame google....

^ This whole thing just makes me rage! I'm not even sure who's responsible anymore.

Of course Google is being a tool, but the hosts for the adds are the ones who complained and they complained because of some insane loony on a ridiculous crusade. At least that's what I get from it.

I'm not angry at the websites I'm just saddened by America. As things are though Onemanga is no longer worth my visit. Just how it is.. Time to look elsewhere.

Well here to all the people who are bothering to defend Mangafox (for what ever god awful reason.) This was posted by the owner of MangaToshokan. Looks like Mangatoshokan is the only site that actually has a pair. Instead of just playing the blame game and saying "boo hoo the site might be closed down if we don't take it up the ass :(" .....I'm so glad I moved on to greener pastures.

Posted by Mizi on Apr 28, 2010

Before the interview, we have an IMPORTANT announcement.

Recently, other large manga sites have been removing mature manga from their readers causing concern among our users. We assure you that MangaToshokan will NOT be removing any of our mature manga from the site. MangaToshokan is a fan run site and we will not allow our advertisers to dictate to us how do they want our site to be run. If an advertiser does not like how we are running the site, we will simply find a new advertiser.

Close minded about what? Whats to be close minded too? Mangafox is a half broken piece of crap now, Mangatoshokan is not and its better. Logic would dictate this a is a simple choice.

I have recently been informed that more and more sites are having their mature content completely erased.

Roughly two weeks ago OneManga decided to remove all of their mature rated content.

This week Google decides to ban mature content on Manga Fox.

Although they are a private company, I am curious as to everyone's opinions of their actions.*

Yeah, I really don't see the big deal with mature content. I mean if you look at many of the movies that come out today there's nudity left and right. Why is it the manga form causes so much conflict?

Essentially it's a typical overreaction. They went to stop lolicon/shotacon (to stop child pornography) and then BAM! get rid of everything mature. Overkill, much?

Not really. A lot of my friends just sit there on their butts just reading off onemanga. It's all getting deleted? They don't care, they just read the shonen/shojo crap that's still available there. Their favourite kuroshitsuji or whatever got suspended? They just sit there, never exploring other sites, and not even reading the good manga on onemanga, for example Cesare, Holyland, or Parasyte.

Also, it's really cute how onemanga calls itself the home of manga.

Mangafox advertises itself too much.

I just go mangatoshokan.

This.

Kids these days! Back in my day, we had to manually download all our manga which were low quality scans using Comic Sans MS font and often had questionable translations which were sometimes missing all together and we liked it! All of this on dialup to boot! *shakes cane*

Seriously people, get over it. These sites are providing a free service and can do whatever the hell they want. If they want to turn it into a Hello Kitty fansite, they can. Find your manga elsewhere and get over your entitlement issues.

For many people, when convenience is all you have, convenience is all you want. In that same line of thought, I find that it's easer to find sites that have each page from a given manga uploaded than to find the same manga in a download/torrent packet (of course, this varies from series to series).
