Is Solo leveling the pioneer of this genre . I see this type of thing in every manhwas nowadays . Even most adult titles are doing it recently . Why ? Do Korean people like it so much ?

Complex Stories are basically sleeping pills . Helps to get some sleep .

I swear Korea is using AI to write all of their garbage. I enjoyed Solo Leveling and Omniscient Reader, but every other popular manhwa I've picked up has basically been a clone of them. I still don't know what the f**k a "constellation" is supposed to be.

I'd say the original Anime Higashi no Eden (2009) pioneered the concept. In that one the system was physical, though, and in the form of a phone, where you could talk to the system and have it do anything for you. From killing someone in front of you, to doing memory wipes. Pretty much anything was possible.

Then the RPG-Fantasy anime got popular and systems were mostly the familiar RPG leveling and skill systems.

It's called LitRPG. It's insanely popular even in the west not just Korea, and there are literally multiple novel and web comic sites that host only these types of stories.

It's mainly popular due to how easy it is to self-insert.

Well ion kn bout pioneering it but it definitely popularized it in that industry. After its success, like 70 percent of manhwas became SL clones.

I was firmly disappointed going through tower of god when they started to introduce a million side characters which is cool and all but they all seemingly had plot armor while literally climbing a tower of death. Jyu viole grace never loses anyone important to him and it’s just like come on. This isn’t doctor stone (pretty good series btw) it’s suppose to be this deep emotional story and characters do conflict but it always resolves before it got anywhere. And the story is about this betrayal thing but the world itself feels fake even though they’re trying to sell the story off.

Which is really disappointing because Baam had alot of potential, he’s this seemingly a pure kinded person but his betrayel seems to have changed his skills rather then his actual character. Not traumatized not anything, he’s this same pure kind hearted person. No twisted sense of justice or anything. He could had been this really still kind hearted person but with a twisted sense of justice that made people question the morality of the situation.

If you see a lot of them it's because it might be the current trend.A lot of people saw this type of title is getting a fair amount attention so they copy in hopes of attract some of fame their way. It's the reason why see a lot of isekai. Also, it feels like "banished from the party" type titles seem to be on the rise.

Ikr, it’s like those two are the only cool original ideas. Korea needs to stop milking them.

No not at all, this kind of thing has been around for a long time, you’ll find a lot of Chinese light novels have this exact same system in a similar world and set up that happened before solo leveling, it just happens to be the most popular

Well I wasn't talking about something like that but the type of game like rpg system suddenly showing up only to the protagonist in real life. Now he just does shiz and levels up type kf thing .

I saw somewhere The Gamer was actually the first manhwa to introduce it .
