The leaks were real. But I can't believe it's coming in 2026. I thought it'd be 2027 at the earliest. 2026 is just too stacked. Anyway, can't wait to watch this. It looks so good. Hope M.A.O. will get a role in it eventually lol. Since this is animated by Inuyasha's studio Sunrise, do you think there's a chance it might be another long-running show like it? I think the chances are slim these days. So I think it'll probably be a seasonal show with the first season being 2-cour at max. |

Probably the seasons will come out just like what happened with Rinne, this announcement was really strange because I was thinking that Mao was going to get an anime a few days ago, when the HxH manga came back the same thing happened I had thought wondering if it would come back a week earlier, but anyway I hope the animation is at least moderately good! |

I'm so worried about the animation quality holding up & I'm sincerely shocked Takahashi is letting Sunrise anywhere near another of her series, ngl. I'll remain cautiously optimistic, but…the fear is real. That PV was far too reminiscent of the most presentable moments from YH for comfort. ๐ฐ |
cranky because your taste sucks, aren't you? |

Those worried about the animation, sure we won't be until the anime release, but the teaser is very good? Even the monster moves and in 2D? That's becoming rare. |

It’s funny how before I saw people saying Mao's manga artstyle sucks. Now I'm seeing some people saying the anime looks bad lol. It’s even funnier when you realize it has the same studio and character designer as Inuyasha. |

People are calling this the Yashahime team because it's relatively recent when they are in fact the same team who did InuYasha, too. Also, I should point out the series composition was done by someone not involved with either but instead Urusei Yatsura 2022, RINNE etc. https://myanimelist.net/people/15655/Yuuko_Kakihara |

@Fortress_Maximus Exactly. People are just seeing the Yashahime name and getting scared without doing any further research. |

Even if my favorite anime is one of those that changed the industry standards (AOT) I'm still tired of people waiting for AOT, Kimetsu, Jujutsu, Chainsaw Man for each anime when we have plenty of different styles and artistic direction that are interesting. |

I'm so excited that we're finally getting an anime! I just hope people don't dismiss it as an Inuyasha clone because of the time travel. |

They can easily make this a year long series without any filler. But yeah, seasonals are more common so it probably won't be a year long series. I still hope they at least do one season every year. 0451 said: People are just seeing the Yashahime name and getting scared That's probably because the official staff reveal credits him as the "Yashahime director" |

@MagicPolly Mao is the closest thing to Inuyasha Rumiko has ever done, and by the same studio no less. This is a golden opportunity to capitalize on Inuyasha's sizable international fanbase. I expect Mao will get more attention than Rinne and the Urusei Yatsura reboot ever did. |

@0451 That's quite likely now that you mention it, but even then I expect it to do better than Urusei Yatsura. |

giguck and redditors will say this is peak even tho it starts as an inuyasha ripoff while ignoring they brigaded eden zero to obscuirty because god forbid someone copies their design from their previous manga hypeeeeee |
It's good that Slop leveling won the CR awards with such a power gap, Gaijin Weebs don't deserve good anime. Not after what they did to frieren, kusuriya, and many others |
