How did you feel at the end of high school?

Studies combined with being part of a frat does not lead to good results if you're me. Started working, moved to my own place, went back to studying but at uni, did not complete studies because well costs are high if you're paying for everything and studies were too much to combine with work.

Started working in IT (yes let's keep it very broad) and am now management in a fortune 500 company with my own house, I don't party anymore, .... So yeah 180.

No more learning useless facts I'll never need in life, no more getting up early for school, no more homework, no more getting bullied? I was the happiest person.

In my last few weeks of high school I was incredibly sad even though I barely had friends in my final year. When I think about how upset I was back then I want to hit myself in the head because my life is so much more interesting, eventful and just joyful now and I feel more free than ever (moving away also helped with that). Back then I was plagued by a deep feeling of nostalgia basically every day and I tended to live in the past a lot, I guess that was a big part of why I was so afraid of letting go of that environment even though I was just depressed and listless in my last few years there.

im in this exact situation , how did you get out of this????

@Zakatsuki_ I moved away from home by myself for university and found new friends. I basically broke out of my old patterns. Back then I used to literally lay in bed and be on my phone 24/7, barely having social interactions. No wonder I always used to reminisce my past. Now, 2 years after being out of high school I can't imagine living like this. Don't get me wrong, I still have a lot of days where I can't bring myself to get out of bed. I still think about old relationships and how my family situation used to be from time to time. But you can't change the past. And maybe things changed for the better and made you learn something about yourself! I know it's corny but it's right what the people always say: The key to getting out of depression or at least make it feel less heavy is to just go outside and socialize. Being in an entirely new environment and surrounding yourself with the right people helps you with that. Physical distance helps. It helped me.

I totally understand you. I was devastated personally. I just knew back then some good or even best times of my life has ended and cried 3 days after. I had great teachers and made some friends, though after 7 years I have contact with only 2 of them...
Guess what, I was right, because I think I never had better time of my life after. It was a lot of work, but also learning, meeting new people, fun after school, endless support from teachers...I would give almost everything to go back to this, when everything was much simpler.
