Hi! I'm Amy, a trans woman and age regressor from the U.S. I joined MAL to socialize in clubs and messages, but I'm pretty socially awkward. I think my first anime was InuYasha. My favorite anime is probably Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. I like GL and lolis, but dislike annoying male leads and characters with enormous breasts. I'm an indie game developer, but I still haven't released a game (usually due to lack of art). Adults, feel free to send me a message or friend request. I'll accept, but it could potentially take a while because I frequently go long periods of time without using social platforms like this, I hope you understand.

@AmyGilhespy Hey there Amy, welcome to TNC!
Madoka is such a fantastic and unique series, really looking forward to the upcoming movie ^^
I definitely get the frustration with annoying male leads and exaggerated character designs xD

Very interesting to hear you are an indie game dev, even if you haven't released a game yet, the passion for creating is what really matters! What kinda games are you going for?

@Karasian Thanks for the thoughtful reply and the warm welcome! I'm glad to be here.

Our project that got furthest along was a top-down 2D roguelike, and our current project is a 3D voxel game (voxels are blocks like in Minecraft) set in the late romantic period. We chose our current project because the type of art we need an actual artist for is very limited as most of the visuals come from premade voxel structures which we can all make. Our team is mostly me and my partner, but we have some friends who contribute here and there.

Hey, my name is Kiram and I am Dutch. I joined MAL because a friend told me it was like Letterboxed, but for anime. I haven't watched that many anime, and most of the time I watch a lot in a short time and then not for a couple of weeks. I started with Naruto, and it's still my favorite anime next to Attack on Titan. I gym a lot and study Business Studies in Amsterdam. That's basically it lol. Byebye :)

@Yominu Heyo Kiram, welcome to TNC!
Letterboxed, but for anime - that does describe it well xD Although I'd guess the social site of MyAnimeList is a little larger.

Sounds like an interesting watch pattern to go all-in and then off for some time but I think that's understandable ^^
Naruto and AoT are solid favourites and I see you are currently watching Vinland Saga, another banger!

It's great to have you here, feel free to ask me any questions should you ever have any :)

Hi! My name is Michael, and I am from America!
I first joined MAL because my best friend forced me too, after I started showing interest into anime and manga.
The first anime I saw was "Kimi no Wa" (Your Name.) That movie single-handedly changed my perspective of anime in general, and now I love anime in general!
After I saw Your Name, my friend knew I like romance anime, so he said I should watch "Shigatsu wa kimi no uso" (Your lie in April). (I think you guys understand how I feel from watching that masterpiece)

Anyways...my favorite genres are: EVERYTHING (ya i have a crazy taste in genres don't ask me why)

I love playing the piano and reading manga.....I dropped piano for over 3 years, but picked it up after watching Your Lie in April!

Believe it or not, I am learning Japanese rn so yay ^_^

I love making friends, and I hope that I can make new friends on here :D

@KouseiArrima Welcome to MAL Michael!

I think Your Name can be hard to digest at first but it's the first of many and a great watch nonetheless, happy to read it was able to catch you ^^
Well it's April and another year passes where I absolutely forgot to rewatch YLIA, I also loved it. Especially as a piano player as well (do you have a favourite piece?) it's amazing to see the effort A-1 has put into it.

I wish you the best on your journey to learn Japanese, I've made good progress on hiragana and katakana but kanji is truly killing me xD

Amazing quote and very much true, Horimiya needs a rewatch from me as well....

@Karasian

Thanks for replying :D

Your Name originally caught me because I saw it mentioned somewhere, and well I gave it a shot. I really did not care for Anime back then because I thought it was "Something only for kids" (I was REALLY wrong btw and I apologize to all of Japan for thinking that way). Anyway I was STUNNED by the animation style, and I thought it was beautiful. The storyline was awesome in my opinion, and you are right because it was a little difficult to understand, but i figured it out anyway.

That was the first ever romance media to EVER make my cry.

YLIA def left me feeling horrible after the ending, and I am not gonna lie (no pun intended ^^), it left me crying like a baby after I finished it.

My favorite Piano piece EVER, is Clair De Lune L.75 (ik its not very original, but everytime I hear it, it hits me really deep in my core.
Right now, im actually learning a pretty easy song, just to give myself a little bit of a break since finals is coming up, called Mitsua's Theme (From Your Name!)

Btw, Whats your favorite piece?

Im a little bit into hiragana right now, and I am doing my best lol. Good luck with Kanji, ive heard its REALLY difficult T-T

Im actually reading Horimiya rn, thats mostly why I put that quote, butI also really agree with it fr...

Anyways, thanks for reading this really long reply, as you can see I love to talk lol :D

@KouseiArrima Always glad to!

I also cried watching Your Name, although I'm really easy to bring to tears so that's that :D
Right, it's been getting better but a lot of people still think anime is either for kids, pure screaming (thanks Super Saiyan 3) or R18.......

Debussy - chef kiss! Mitsuha's theme is great, it's these simple pieces that really let you focus on it and pour all your feelings out ^^

Personally, Chopin's Étude Opus 25 No. 5 immediately caught my attention and I stil loooove to listen to it (think it's easy to figure out where I first heard it xD
I've unfortunately stopped playing piano a good while ago, sure is sad to be back at the piano sometimes trying to play something and realizing you forgot 90% of your repertoire T.T
Still some muscle memory left but the second I want to think about what I'm pressing it poofs away haha

Definitely try to use some mnemonics for hiragana and katakana if you aren't already! Those helped me a lot and with daily practice in easy-to-process chunks it's fun. I only got into basic kanji but kinda gave up on it tbh - focusing on the speaking part instead lol

This is so true, idk why anime gets such a bad rep :(

Pouring your feelings out on something (like the piano) really helps whenever i feel stressed or something, and I dont want to talk to anyone. Im more of an introvert sometimes, but it feels really good to pour out feels indirectly...

I completely forgot about that piece, and I'll admit, its gotta be a close number 2 for me. For me, even though it is so well known, Clair de Lune just resonates with me every time i hear it.

When I first came back after 3 or so years, I almost wanted to give it up again because of how horrible it felt to have almost forgotten everything. Im still working on it everyday, and hopefully ill be able to play some beautiful songs! If you ever feel like you hate it because you've forgotten everything, just keep working on it, and one day it will click :D

I'll def have to try this out, it will prob help me improve alot :)

Hope to talk to you again soon :D

@Karasian Thanks for replying! Hm, next I think I want to watch some more niche anime or a currently airing one. Do you have any recommendations?

@SSVGT In that case I can recommend checking out Slice of Life, more specifically an Iyashikei (a word for anime that just focus on relaxing settings) like Tanaka-kun! Wholesome watch, perfect as a pause from the hectic world xD
