Short answer: kinda, but not directly.

Steel Ball Run (Part 7) is a reboot of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure universe. It starts a new continuity, separate from Parts 1 to 6 (the “original universe”). So while you’ll see familiar names like "Joestar" and "Dio," and even similar Stands and themes, they’re all alternate versions in a parallel universe. It’s like Araki hit the reset button after Part 6’s wild ending and said, “Okay, let’s run it back, but with horses and America this time.”

The only true "link" is that Steel Ball Run uses the same foundational ideas and legacy themes, bloodline, fate, and the Joestar birthmark, the moral ambiguity of power, but the events of Parts 1–6 don’t carry over into SBR. It’s like you're watching a different timeline that branches off from the main JoJo multiverse.

Think of it like a multiverse soft reset.

I would never ever tell someone to skip part 1-6 and then watch 7, that should be a crime.

skipping parts 1-6 will reduce the impact of *certain scenes* in part 7 that you wouldnt otherwise understand

There are two type of Jojo Fans. One who's been their since the very start, and one who begin from SBR.

You can start anywhere. But SBR sets the bar so much high, that apart from fascinating stands and designs, You'll feel A bit odd tracing back.
Moreover the art post Stone Ocean is GODLY. So, I'd advice anyone to go through the previous parts before putting their hands on SBR. Because Each part is arguably better than the previous ones.

The only problem with starting at Part 7 is that it contains an homage to Part 3 that would indirectly spoil one of its big plot points.

I don't understand how you could get into Jojo and then think it's ok to skip entire parts. The only time I considered even skipping ahead just a few episodes was about midway through Stardust Crusaders.

@edwardelric880 skipping inbetween is worse than starting a non-canon storyline. Starting from SBR is just fine, you must understand this generation of Kids. They don't even have an attention span to sit and watch a 15minute clip, it's like they're suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, they need to pause and change their brain diapers every minute.
For them, watching a single episode of a decade old show will be equivalent of watching the Simpsons on Loop.
At least, with SBR, They'll Actually Start Jojo, that they've been ignoring for years. So it's a win-win ig......

.....the main criminal is You btw, who skipped a few eps of SDC.

I didn't end up actually skipping anything lol; the thought just crossed my mind when SDC was in full-on episodic 'Stand-of-the-week' mode. I knew the fight with Dio wasn't gonna be like DBZ and last 20 episodes but there was a long stretch where he had zero screentime. It was making me antsy lol

It is not connected to p1-p6. It is an alternative universe where you can find some references to the original universe. You can even skip p1-p6 and start from p7 but DON'T TRY that.

Technically you can but you would be missing out, jojo imo is the best battle anime by far. Almost each fight is unique and builds massive tension, vibes are great too and its a very fun anime to watch

The only part that people complain about is part 1 but I enjoyed it personally, some medival berserk vibes and from there on it only gets better
