How highly do you rate anime content on movie resources?

How highly would you rate the way modern film resources write about anime and East Asian animation and films/series in general? Do you take any information from there and are there any common things that you would like to praise or criticize? For example, I am constantly annoyed by how many resources describe anime as original projects of showrunners, sometimes even completely forgetting about the source material. Or completely ignoring the nuances of a particular titles, criticizing or praising it for misunderstood moments. In particular, I often see how currently popular reboots of old adaptations are described as something like Hollywood "cheap remakes for a modern audience", ignoring adaptations closer to the original or solutions of the problems that "broke" the old adaptations.

@0063873192871 This is a forum for discussions, there are no topics created here just to "post something interesting". Not to mention that if something is not interesting to you personally, it does not mean that it is not interesting to anyone.

I've seen recently a review for the new gundam
The reviewer didn't even know it's a compilation for the first 3 episodes

It never occurred to me that this was something that people would do. There are a few professional reviewers in the UK that have backgrounds or interests in comics (Paul Gambaccini, Johnathan Ross, and Mark Kermode) and they mention anime from time to time but they are exceptions.

I wouldn't look in a movie magazine or anything like that for views on anime.

I read/watch movie reviews from time to time, and I check out the reviews for anime movies from film critics I generally like, whenever they feel like reviewing one.

I'm just curious about what they think, people who exist outside the anime world but still has vast knowledge and interesting opinions about a different medium. An anime movie's still a movie, after all.

I don't really put too much weight behind these reviews, though. And I'm pretty forgiving of things like unfamiliarity and missed context; it's not their business to know every nitty-gritty detail about anime. I don't care about their lack of knowledge of the source material at all; I believe an anime movie should stand on its own, anyway.
