I just finished watching the entire Post-War arc (pre timeskip) as well as the 3D2Y special (it was a nice, enjoyable watch BTW, I'd rec checking it out). Now, I am going to be starting the Fishman Island saga (Return to Sabaody and Fishman Island).

Here's the situation. I was wondering what the best course of action is for watching this saga is. I was originally planning on using One Pace (it's a fan-made edit that recuts the One Piece anime and removes all filler/padding to make it closer to the manga) for the whole FMI saga since the original drags on quite a bit and One Pace significantly improves the pacing, but now that the new remaster has come out, I'm wondering whether I can start with that as it seems to have much better animation as well as improved pacing. Also, I assume it would be better made as well (the One Pace version suffers a few edit quality issues as it is an older edit). However, since the remaster is not complete, I would have to combine both to watch the full saga.

Here are my 2 options:
1. I start with the remaster, at least up to the end of RtS and then continue with the One Pace episodes for the rest of the arc
2. I just use One Pace for the entire saga

Which option would you recommend? Option 1 seems pretty good to me, but a good amount of people seem to say that the new remaster cuts too much content, and that the intro was too fast and not as impactful as it is in the manga and original, so I would greatly appreciate some clarification on how good it acc is and whether I would lose anything important. Also, would like to know whether you think it would be fine switching over from the new to old animation or whether it might be too jarring.

Edit: This post is resolved. I have decided to just stick with One Pace for the entire saga as it is the easiest option and allows me to avoid all the issues that could happen with mixing them (such as the jarring change in animation and the fact that the remake's not made in a way where the episode endings really allow for switching since the way the episodes are paced are acc very different). I might rewatch with the remake later though once it's finished.

One Pace's FMI will be eventually remade, it's one of if not their oldest edit in general, so it's extremely rough on the edges, and pales in comparison to their current editing quality (which is pretty much professional work at this point, even correcting Toei's animation errors).

I'd say stick with this remake, because their new version will take a while, and likely will be based on it (but adding the small amount of panels and dialogue they skipped from the manga that were present in the original anime).

I mean the new FMI version only has 7 episodes yet and it's gonna take like 3+ months to finish it.
I am also not a very big fan of watching one pace for first time. If you don't wanna watch one piece then I suggest you to read the manga for this saga and then you can watch one pace.

@Danpmss That's not really an option for me since then I'd have to wait months for the remake to finish.

I get that One Pace's edit quality is definitely rougher and more unpolished in this edit and can be overly jarring at times, but it would still be better than the original imo since it removes all the annoying padding. I'd assume it's watchable despite it's issues and it significantly improves the overall pacing.

Also, I believe the RtS edit was actually updated, so the edit quality for that is good. Only thing is I feel like the remake would be even better, although it might be to too jarring to switch. But that's what I was wondering, whether I should switch over from the remake or just watch it all in One Pace.

@ShokatAli I'd say One Pace is perfectly fine for a first-time viewer. It only cuts padding and filler and overall seems to make the watch more enjoyable.

But my question was actually whether I should start with the new FMI remake (with the episodes that have aired) and then switch or watch it all in one.

@KitsuneZoro If it doesn't bother you, by all means then, go for Pace's version.
Do watch the remaster up to where it is, however, as I would still recommend it over the early Pace edits, even if they had to cut some panels.
Pace's version of the first adapted arc in this may be more complete and better edited, but the visuals still make this quite a nice treat either way.
As for FMI arc per se, I will honestly say they did a better job than old Pace so far.

@KitsuneZoro I think instead of switching, just watch one pace if you want. It's just 7 episodes

I've found One Pace to be a very good edit, specifically for the post-time skip stuff where Toei uses lots of still shots to drastically extend the length of episodes and eat up time.

I would really recommend watching the full FMI as it was originally created. As it stands, this remake cuts waay too much content, and you'll often speed past important plot points with little to no context. As tedious as it is, I think this version is more like a spark notes for the arc and is best enjoyed by those looking to rewatch, rather than someone jumping in for the first time.
