We don’t know, it means this chapter is cancelled for the next 2 weeks. We don’t know the problem either, but if it’s about his health, I reckon like many other fans recommendation, he need assistant.

While I understand one person’s health comes first above all else, I wish the reason would be at least be communicated to us, especially as it is sudden. State “due to authors health” or to “help with the live action production”, give us as consumers a reason why this has happened, rather than just leaving us in the dark.

@28012001 I’m pretty sure Oda already has assistants, but even then, I’ve read that he draws everything that moves himself while the assistants just do background stuff. So that’s still a big workload on him.

He's very busy. It's not a major health issue. Season 2 of netflix. Family. Life. Making sure the manga is up to his standard as he ages. I've been out of the loop for a month so if there was a health issue released recently I would have missed that.

Again, really? He just had two weeks off and went to South Africa and now he's taking two more weeks off out of the blue? This is why I loathe his involvement in the live action series; it just takes time away from his work on the manga. And this is ignoring the fact that he already wrote the source material for season two of the live action series more than 20 years ago, so it's not like his meddling in the live action series is even needed.

I reckon like many other fans recommendation, he need assistant.

He already has assistants who help him work on the manga; they draw things such as backgrounds and buildings and do any tedious inking work that Oda has no time for. Oda usually just draws "living things" like characters or anything in the panels that's meant to show movement of some kind, because he's a perfectionist and refuses to let his assistants draw those things for him.

Plus he's also got an editor, although they just kiss Oda's ass and never tell him to change anything because he makes WSJ magazine so much money that nobody has the balls to criticize his work or suggest ideas...

My man enjoys making the live action. He has been writing and drawing almost non-stop for more than 25 years, give him a break. If he needs to take breaks, he should have them. Just because you want to read the next chapter doesn’t mean that you get to choose what he does and when he does it. He is starting a new arc and he’s been cooking so far. Let him rest, let him do the things he likes and take his time with One Piece.

You would be angry if the live action was garbage and didn’t involve Oda, and you’re angry when they actually take time getting his supervision and making it good. Some fans just can’t be pleased, huh 💀

@GoCrayzee What a strange thing to say given that I don't like the live action series to begin with, precisely because I do think it's garbage regardless of Oda's involvement.

Also the OP should change the thread title again; it's confirmed that there's a break this week.

Technically the situation is kinda weird now.
Yes there seems to be a break but it's handled pretty amateurish by official sources until now.

I think/I heard that there will also be an official statement/confirmation (by) tomorrow (but I don't know if that's really true, so take it with a grain of salt 🤷‍♀️).

Yea, because of his health issues genius. God forbid he actually take care of himself so he doesn't end up like Kentarou Miura.

Would like to correct this statement as they have now come out and said it is due to Oda’s health. Rest well Oda sensei. Look after yourself sir 🫡

I do really wish they would expand on just "poor health" because that could mean a lot of things
I just hope it means he's getting some rest and it's nothing serious.
Either way, my prayers are out for Oda and I hope he gets well very soon.
