For me, the whole show had a nostalgic feeling with Frieren thinking back to her quest with the heroes party and the lessons she learned with them.

If you had an idea what to compare to, it would have been nice. Otherwise, every fantasy anime is a rip-off of some game.

Haha I should be weary of this when interacting my family, it’s the opposite for me where I’m the only sarcastic one and it’s gotten me in some trouble before. My only tip is to always lean towards whatever is their more common attitude, I mostly joke around so on the off chance I actually am mad I gotta remember that they could be still thinking I’m being sarcastic 😅

It definitely is similar to Lord of the rings. It also reminds me of Skyrim and the Witcher 3.

I doubt about that, it’s one of the most popular RPG, almost everyone who play games knows about it.

I mean, if I had to draw any parallel, she's kinda reminiscent of Saitama if you squint hard enough.

@Rhae I haven't seen the Frieren anime yet, but judging from the visuals, I can kind of see some similarities lol

I know exactly what you're talking about, and I think there really isn't much of an answer. Obviously, Lord of the Rings is the main inspiration, but some parts hit me with Hollow Knight/Elden Ring-esc feels, some parts Skyrim, some parts oldschool JRPG-s, some parts actually felt straight out of golden age Disney movies. Frieren is really just a masterful blend of the best of the best the fantasy genre has to offer across different mediums.

Watching frieren's adventure In a fantasy world makes me feel really nostalgic. I think because it reminds me of the studio ghibli movies I used to watch many years ago, as well as the Disney fairy tail movies like snow white or tangled or something

It reminds me of D&D. It has a lot of TTRPG tropes and some of the scenes feel straight up taken from a D&D table. Dungeon Meshi also achieves this quite well. I think you can appreciate both anime even more if you play TTRPGs (specially Dungeons and Dragons).

The Hunter x Hunter influence is everywhere, especially towards the end of the season where they are basically just copying the hunter exam.
Ubel is this shows Hisoka
