| I’m three episodes in, and I’m enjoying this remake so far. I appreciate that it’s faithful to the original anime but still differentiates itself. But there’s one bizarre detail about Kaoru I noticed in this remake that wasn’t as prevalent in the original: her cleavage. Now before anyone says anything, yes, I know that she provided fanservice once in a while in the original. In fact, I think she had a bath scene in the original during the first episode or two that wasn’t adapted in this remake, so far at least. But it’s just kind of weird in this remake how the animation studio was like “we must make sure that Kaoru is showing a tiny bit of cleavage at least once or twice an episode!” It’s a bit distracting to be honest. And this is coming from someone who doesn’t mind fanservice! 🤪 Maybe it doesn’t come up as much as the show goes on, but it was just a weird observation from the first three episodes. I like Kaoru’s character a lot so I feel like this small animation change is a disservice to her character and who she is. Once in a while is fine, but at least once an episode is too much in my opinion. Did anyone else notice this? Or was it just me? |

So it's perfectly normal, that's how such traditional uniforms were back then, and even still are sometimes nowadays. (That's one of the reason as to why women use sarashi (the bandage), so that their breasts is not exposed.) You can notice her cleavage is not visible when she's in her casual kimono too, and the same can be said about the other characters. Kenshin's torso is also very much visible, for example. It was censored in the original adaptation tho, by simply not drawing her cleavage in the close-up shots, or by making her sarashi extremely high and large in the other ones. It's a very minor detail, which is easily forgettable, on top of adding realism and actually showing there is no censorship related to it. As said by the user above tho, you say you don't mind fan-service, but then you notice this subtle detail, and complain about it, even saying it's "distracting"... |

DarkEmperor69 said: What's the ep number? Episode 19. To be fair, it's not entirely filler, but it was heavily altered from the story of the Manga. I think OP meant Episode 01 tho, which also got heavy alterations, including a bath scene of Kaoru. |
