What's up with all the irises? It's mentioned/shown at least 10 times in each episode.. I get that it's in connection with Kiyotaka but why this exact flower?
This may be explained in later episodes but would appreciate an in-depth explanation.

It's been years since I read the manga (after watching the anime), but it's not too important. It's overdone in the anime, but it basically represents "the happiness of those who believe" which is the main theme of the series. Irises represent wisdom, hope, and valor, and these are all qualities Ayumu is tested in, that require him to believe in himself and others to overcome the obstacles set out in front of him.

Also heads up, but the anime ending is original, and you will not get any of the answers you're looking for unless you read the manga (which is phenomenal albeit depressing). I highly recommend reading the manga if you are willing to, but the anime is still a fun watch although it's slow-paced and disappointing as an adaptation. There is also another hidden meaning of irises, which is connected to Hiyono if you read until the end of the manga.
