Isn't time for the anime to switch up to seasonal. Considering oda is slowing his pace with the manga, and the anime is already super slow as it is, wouldn't it be better to start airing seasonal , better time to work on quality, more hype around new seasons, more fans overall and less people overwhelmed by the number of episodes. Seems like a shame a manga this good is not receiving the full quality it deserves , don't get me wrong animation is great but other aspects should be considered as well. Is there any known reason Toei aren't heading towards that direction because it seems to be the better move anyway you look at it, many new fans are using onepace these days.

Fillers would be a good second option if their intention is to keep it weekly all the time, just stop butchering the canon episodes.

he's right tho. the pacing is awful and as a person who's caught up with the manga, the Egghead arc NEEDS fast pacing. if they continue like this the anime will just be unwatchable tbh. Wano is awful on it's own, we don't need the rest of the story to just be ruined

He isn't asking for filler lmao. Just a seasonal anime, like 24 episodes a year or sum, no filler episodes between the seasons, just a break between them so the manga and anime are not getting to close.

I would love to see OnePiece quit being a weekly, pacing is horrible, most of the time you can literally skip the first 10minuts and we don't even need to talk about the dragged out scenes like the wano citizens dancing lmao.

Sure we can be happy to see Op every week but like for what price? To see 3Min opening, 5min summary what happens last episode and 5min of dragged out scenes.

Fuji TV will continue to make OP weekly until it ends. And your answer to why, it’s bcuz of Fuji TV and money. The production now is different than it was decade ago

ok but it would be better if they just made the anime better naturally and we didn't have to skip. Then we wouldn't have shitty AoT fans saying "Um but does One Piece have 10/10 rated episodes on IMDb"

Toei should definitely consider it, if they want to constantly produce high quality animation per episode. This will also fix the pacing problems the anime has at the moment.

I also hope they make the final saga into its own anime, similar to Bleach tybw.

I see your point, but do we want to see a second boruto type anime? If they do good fillers it should be fine, but if they do a bad job at that, it could get really unbearable.

At least filler episodes a skippable, episodes with bad pacing are a bit scetchy at that point.

Ppl should just watch what they want. I’ve seen ppl that love the current pace of OP anime. Seen ppl who love anime>manga or manga>anime. Vice versa.

The fact is, the ppl that keep wanting seasonal..it won’t happen. They’ve been doing weekly for 20 years now, they won’t stop. If they didn’t do seasonal during Dressrosa, it won’t ever happen then. One Piece will still be hype to the Japanese fandom despite the pacing

yeah true I just wanted to add my personal take. It won't ever happen, but it would be better, the hype is there, I just wish the pacing was a bit better, tho honestly the last 5-6 eps have felt A LOT better than the rest of Act of Wano. The entire Raid was just soo slow.

@JPointerrr of course people will continue to watch, one piece has a solid fanbase , but even more people would watch if it became seasonal.

I myself stopped watching since the beginning of Wano when i started the manga, i loved the anime up till that point, but the manga is far better paced and once you start it's harder to pick up the anime afterwards, a lot of people have encountered that problem and a huge part of manga readers stopped watching the anime or limit themselves to watching iconic scenes on youtube.

In addition , when the live action of one piece was released many people praised it for having fast paced story which helped grab audiences better, there's no denying one piece anime is good and has a solid audience, but it has far more potential than that. Toei can continue to milk the series as long as it has a decent audience but I feel like it does so with a risk, and without thinking long term enough.

@duschu @Eldencheese I believe i was pretty clear with what I said, the ideal option is a seasonal anime for best quality. I never said i wanted fillers, since it is definitely not the ideal option, but if toei don't want to switch up to seasonal then it's an acceptable option, people who want to continue watching weekly can do so and people who don't can wait for canon episodes.

Stretching out canon episodes to me feels like the worse option, much of the impact of the story is lost, some minor scenes start to have more focus then needed, characters running for half the episodes, or unnecessarily long close ups of characters reacting to something. Using the skip button may help a little but that just ruins your watching experience, not a very effective way.

@JPointerrr Yes i know it's just that i started the anime with Wano airing this is why I am discussing it now. Also one piece seems to be at its all time high in terms of popularity , especially considering the recent live action. With the live action taking so much success and having such a high budget and many anime fans switching to manga ( also many new one piece fans through live action are switching form live action to manga and not necessarily anime due to recommendations from long time fans), the anime needs to step up its game as it is no longer as dominating of a medium as it used to be.

That is tough!
Too risky

Changing a work style that has been comfortable for decades can actually make production fall apart. And the marketing: Huff!
Not worth it!
But if it's the best, what else can we do. What is clear is that it requires careful planning.

@JPointerrr The anime being successful does not change the fact that at least half of every episode is filler and the pacing is awful in almost every episode. The most recent episode for instance only had a few minutes of relevant canon content while the rest of it was filler garbage. And that's essentially the norm that we've had to tolerate since Thriller Bark.

The anime going seasonal or at least having more filler arcs would be the best case scenario if it means that canon arcs would be better paced. Unfortunately as we've discussed hundreds of times before, Toei would never go for it. They'll instead do more recap specials or take a week off here and there, but that's the most we can hope for.

@1110_ran Is it that risky with one piece, i mean look at naruto and bleach, both stopped airing for a certain amount time and then came back with the same audiences. With something as popular as one piece , it doesn't feel as risky, the marketing shouldn't be too tough considering the solid fanbase. Production comfort wise i honestly don't know I am not a professional in this matter, but couldn't they slowly start changing, you gotta change at some point , also they would have more time for other projects no?

Last episode fixed the pacing issues by making the flashback scenes actually look great and reused the bare minumum to do so, i get that its kinda annoying that luffy is just there, still aiming his attack at kaido tho

Imagine thinking a weekly anime series of 1000+ episodes is going to go seasonal. Very childish.

They have a few options. Do some cover story specials that were never animated. As you said, do some filler. Although post time skip anime only filler has been really bad, pre time skip as some of the best anime only filler. I wouldn't be against some shenanigans and crew interactions before they get to egghead.

The anime is getting close but you should never expect a long term break in the anime, or seasonal.

Weird that they don't get that. All these people can just look forward to One Piece Remastered in 20 years. Where all their pacing wishes come true.

@DayRivia Are you an employee in Toei animation, because you seem extremely triggered as if i insulted your whole lineage, gotta chill dude. I am simply trying to brainstorm reasons as to why they wouldn't want to change to seasonal and giving my input as fan who loves the series like many others do and want the best out of it, and your arguments against a seasonal anime are horrible , what if this has been going on for 20 years, does it mean it has to stay that way ? , no more room for change and evolving ?, an overwhelming majority of anime air seasonally today. Nothing wrong with wanting to change, just as animation evolves, other aspects of the industry can change as well, the era of fillers and stretched out episodes is at an end and most of new anime fans have become accustomed to it , even with longer animes such as black clover for example.

You have the nerve to call us childish yet you are the one who gets triggered the minute your favorite anime gets criticized, we like one piece as much as you do we just want the best out of it, fans are what drive the success of show and Toei are slowly but surely ruining the fan's experience.

Also why remaster everything in the future when they can start improving now, or does Toei want people who use onepace and websites alike (pirated websites that makes Toei lose profit btw ) to continue to grow in terms of popularity? It is as if you want your beloved show to be ruined. All due respect to to the workers who work hard at Toei of course, but this does not exempt them from criticism from the fans.

Filler makes it better to watch once it’s ended, cause you can just skip them. With the slow pacing you are forced to watch more for no reason. If you are not caught up it’s literally hell, and if you are caught up it’s unnerving

Toei employees will never see any of our ideas anyway. Get mad all you, seasonal or a hiatus will never happen. Best you can do is brainstorm great filler ideas. but again Toei will never see this so these ideas don't matter.

@Tuli345 the anime will never end before the manga does, and if it is seasonal the last season could air in as soon as 9months- 1 year after the manga does which is not that long either way the anime ends after the manga in a while (wano is 1 year late compared to manga). Is everyone here horrible at simple logic?

@TheRealRouges yeah definitely a good option, tho if the manga still last a few more years the anime can easily catch up to it after airing again and fall back into the same loop.

I’m with u tbh, i love one piece so much and i tell as much people i can to give it a chance but everyone has the same come back, its too long and the pacing is horrible, i can agree with that but as a dedicated fan i can binge watch one piece with no problems at all. Non-fans won’t even try. I think change would be a good thing for the studio, everyday cant be the same, changing to a seasonal anime would be a good thing in my opinion but idk how bad or good it would impact the workers themselves, I’m just speaking from the audience’s pov. Even if they dont change, after one piece is finished they could remake it into seasons, dont need to make any drastic change to the story just needs to group the episodes into seasons. One piece has amazing cliffhangers I’m sure they’d end each season with a good stop. This just my take tho please dont bash me 🙏😭

Bro is asking for filler what is he on rn

He isn't asking for filler lmao. Just a seasonal anime, like 24 episodes a year or sum, no filler episodes between the seasons, just a break between them so the manga and anime are not getting to close.

I would love to see OnePiece quit being a weekly, pacing is horrible, most of the time you can literally skip the first 10minuts and we don't even need to talk about the dragged out scenes like the wano citizens dancing lmao.

Sure we can be happy to see Op every week but like for what price? To see 3Min opening, 5min summary what happens last episode and 5min of dragged out scenes.

I basically just watch like 10 minutes per episode since I skip all the summary and opening. It’s wasting my time to watch a TEN MINUTE OPENING+SUMMARY

he's right tho. the pacing is awful and as a person who's caught up with the manga, the Egghead arc NEEDS fast pacing. if they continue like this the anime will just be unwatchable tbh. Wano is awful on it's own, we don't need the rest of the story to just be ruined

your totally right! wano took a year for the whole arc to come out! if this continues with egghead then it'll take me more than a year to finish this anime!
