its been 55 chapters since we saw him, which is also 3341 days or 9 years so we are closing in on a decade.
if he does come back how do you think he will come back? any theories

I guess there's no way of knowing for sure but I seriously doubt that Togashi has no further plans of implementing Gon into future chapters or arcs. I always figured the story was just getting started around Chimera Ant Arc, but I guess at that pace Togashi would probably never be able to finish the story in his lifetime.

if it ever reaches the final arc I think he could come back in a minor role like Leorio in Yorknew, or just for the finale where everyone reunites. I could also see him returning to the story if Togashi ever continues with the Gyro stuff, but still not as a main character. Almost like how Welfen helped "defeat" Meruem, or just had a major impact on the Chimera Ant Arc despite not being a major player generally. Same with Leorio in the election arc even though he never had to fight to be important...

But no I can't see him returning anytime soon (and therefore probably ever), and even if he did I don't think he'd ever return to being an MC since his story is done. I also definitely don't think we're gonna see him ever use Nen in a fight again, even if Togashi manages to reach a point where he comes back beyond a sweet finale/reunion like the one at the end of the anime (minus Kurapika in that one)

i don't know if it does eventually reach the final arc which i doubt it, i just cant see gon not being the main character, it wouldn't feel like HxH if gon wasn't the mc for me, there's definitely a lot of ways gon can get his nen back considering how big the world is or couldn't he just make a wish from Alluka or has that already been debunked and he cant do that?

Not sure about the Alluka thing, so far he hasn't gotten Nen back and doesn't seem like it'll happen in the foreseeable future, I imagine if it happened it would've been when he was first healed. As it stands it felt like it completely his character arc after sacrificing his Nen for such a major thing

I see it as the same situation as Kurapika/Leorio not appearing in Chimera Ant. They don’t fit with the current narrative but I think Togashi is definitely planning something for Gon and Killua in future arcs, similar to how Leorio played a huge role in the Election arc and Kurapika with the current arc. In the case of Gon and Killua, it’ll most likely be a continuation of the Gyro storyline.

I doubt he'll make a return as a main character. He may show up more towards the end, but as of rn I don't see him coming back any time soon. I'm sure we'll get more of kurapikas/leorios story or at least few more arcs focused around them. I'd love to see gon again but my hope remains small in that department lol.

why just because he met his dad has his story concluded? sure that was his objective but there's still so much potential for him

Well, just as many have already said Togashi's health is an important factor in how much the story can keep going. Of course, he could work strictly on the story and allow a team to take care of drawing, but since he actually enjoys doing it himself and he really loves his work, it's probably not very likely that he'll be willing to hand over the drawing part completly. Still if he would, which is very unlikely, having Gon back in the story would make sense. We do know that his family is actually a pretty big deal so him being at least a supporting character could work.

Unfortunately since Togashi refuses to consistently work on chapters or pass his work to someone else, we will probably never see Gon again.
I think it would make sense for him to meet up with Gyro who could potentially have ways of Gon reclaiming his nen. From then on I can see Gon becoming a villain or the protagonist again.
