I can't be the only one who thinks that romance in this show was done not only very entertaining but incredibly mature,  nowadays modern media often depict romance more in there form of lust and sexual relations; which albeit is one part of romance and relationships in general, imo this anime has depicted what a mature/healthy relationship looks like in its later stages, it portrays romance in all of the love languages: Gift giving, quality time, words of affirmation, and acts of service without emphasizing not he physical part of the relationship which is only everso slightly hinted at.  Would love to hear if anyone else agrees lol

it's an average but somewhat ideal husband-wife relationship.

the realest and my favourite depiction of romance is from clannad as. that's how you depict romance. absolutely lovely and utterly beautiful. made me wish i had a caring and loving wife.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.
Feeling half happy, half sad.

Eh. That's probably because you watch too many teen-centric romances.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

Well, other than it being a slideshow instead of having normal animation, it's probably fine.

I humbly disagree since you have to remember that the couples are more of an "asian" couple kinda thing that represents Japan, Is Miku being piped behind the scene? prob but the shows doesn't focus round that.

Agreed. It's so sad it got pretty intense shit for its animations as if they were the point of the show, when in the meanwhile it delivered so much else.
By and large I find that reversing the "gender roles" is a pretty outdated way to make stuff interesting, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work any longer. In gokushufudou it works because it doesn't matter what the setup for the romance is: it's not like the show is trying to deliever some deep moral lessons or anything, it's just trying to make you laugh and in the meanwhile it portrays something wholesome.

Lol, who would go out of their ways to call romance in a piece of Japanese cartoons "realistic and mature", all the while the writers are likely unable to stand looking at other beings of their own kind, let alone having any romantic experience whatsoever in prior? Duh

I approve of subtle relationships as long as the subtlety serves to emphasize the emotional and spiritual connection, and not to hide or mute the relationship.
