Mihawk stopped fighting Shanks after he lost his arm. Before Shanks lost his arm they were equal in strength. In marienfrod Mihawk said he was not interested in fighting Shanks probably because the fight wouldn't be interesting and Mihawk would win easily. But hey we don't know their full power yet.

Mihawk is obviously stronger than Shanks, man was sailing in Grand Line without any crew (Before Marineford), But he already said in one of early episodes he's not interested in fighting Shanks anymore.

mihawk and shanks fight many time and they were equal they stop fighting when shanks lose his arm

If it’s a sword fight. Than Mihawk. In terms of an all out fight, I am going to give it to Shanks. This is just my opinion though. We need to see more from them.
