it did feel like the aunt and serizawa could have had chemistry, but they knew each other very briefly. at most, I see their relationship only being a short fling based on a mere physical attraction that ultimately implodes because it holds no real substance.
meanwhile, her coworker was always there for her. working with her as long as he had, he's sure to have seen all different sides of her - hard-working, calm, cool, but also frustrated, distracted, angry, etc - and he still was there for her. He knew about her situation regarding raising her sisters child, and even then he still wanted to see her more, which was one of her biggest concerns about dating. I think calling him a simp is harsh. He was genuinely a very caring and supportive person who had a big crush on her and showed he would have done whatever it took to help her in her time of need. I think they would have made a good pair and that he would make a great partner no matter who he was with.
