There are many different sites for reading manga or dōjinshi, most of which are blocked outside of Japan. Are there countries that don't block or restrict access to, say, 18+ dojinshi or Pixiv?

Basically, various manga sites are on servers in certain countries, so it turns out that if a site works in that side, there are no blockages there?
The country can't always be correctly identified, from what I understand most are hidden behind Cloudflare CDN.

I'm not 100% what the legal status is around the world but I'm pretty sure that doujin are generally speaking legal in most countries (with the possible exception of some more objectionable subjects like lolis). Of course there are notable exceptions like australia (not sure if they really did ban them but I remember that they did propose such a legislation). Now being legal is one thing, finding a vendor who will carry doujin is another matter entirely. I recall that at one point E-hentai came dangerously close to being shut down because the hoster did not want to host the kind of material that was on there, from what I gathered it was not a legal but a personal issue.

Since when Doujinshi are banned anywhere? Here in Poland they are not banned, the only stuff which is banned are stuff related to child pornography, rape, bestiality, zoophilia and other stuff which are stated in Polish law.

As long as it doesn't break any rules it is not banned, I have no idea where you find the idea of this being banned somewhere as I have no results of typing it in google. If you're surprised that some sites where you can read manga and doujinshi are getting closed/banned is perhaps because it is an illegal source, have you bought physical manga or doujinshi? That's what I thought the reason is not the materials you can read there but the fact that it is an illegal site, it is no difference for anime.

The only ban/closing site I have heard so far is one of the most famous site of Polish Escort Services was closed and if I recall properly from memory the hosts/creators of that site with some workers were put in court for something, as it was kept outside the public.

I don't know how accurate this list really is, but it's definitely illegal (treated as cp) in many countries, most notably in Australia, UK, Canada, etc.

If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

When I was reading the Codex of Crimes or however it is called in English, I found out that for Child Porn or other illegal stuff in Poland is also counted any imagination or "creation"/"art" or whatever else what would be related or representing a children during the sex act, such stuff is the lightest penalty of all of them, but still Illegal.

So yes, it is counted as CP.

US law counts 'cartoon' depictions of underaged sexual acts to be cp, but under the premise that they can prove the character depicted is underage. So if they're wearing a middle schoolers' uniform, but the manga never makes mention of their age... safe? It's hard to tell and I don't really care since lolis aren't really my thing.

As far as I understand, most sites are banned because of loli, but at the same time, if you look at traffic, for example nhentai is visited by people from Germany, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, US and of course Japan. The problem is whether it's allowed or blocked by legal regulations, clearly Japan is allowed to read and buy essentially any 18+ manga.

Perhaps for the same reason (because of loli and so on) in most countries you can't order an 18+ illustration on Pixiv, only through a Japanese IP can you?
On the other hand, it's unlikely that the same nhentai is hosted in Japan, for any big manga sites where you can read and download without buying violate copyright and deprive artists of profits. However, nhentai works, which means the hoster has allowed it and doesn't ban it, or the site periodically changes hoster, for example.

Anyway, it turns out that hosting sites with manga or with pictures stolen from Pixiv are chosen in such countries where they do not restrict and do not ban such sites.
Well, maybe I'm wrong...I don't really understand the logic of the laws:

  1. Most manga and dōjinshi sites (both legal and pirated) use Cloudflare CDN as a reverse proxy.
  2. Cloudflare is in the US.
  3. US Bans loli.
  4. Most manga sites have characters who look like loli.
  5. Cloudflare is tied to nhentai (and other similar sites).
  6. Nhentai has a host in some country, but all data goes through Cloudflare servers one way or another.
  7. WTF? You can't buy an 18+ illustration on Pixiv through a US IP, but nhentai isn't banned...

I would like to find a country where you can watch, read and buy any manga as well as order any illustration from Pixiv, judging by traffic, most manga and Pixiv sites are open almost everywhere, but just because you can go to a site from some IP does not mean it is allowed, you might get a warning just for downloading an advertising picture, not to mention buying illustrations or licensed 18+ manga from Japanese online stores.

The internet is a bit weird because you can have a host located in a different country being able to setup a site that would technically be considered unsafe or unregulated where you might live. It's all about your internet service provider. If you know how to get around the default fire walls, you can basically visit any internet site you want no matter how legal it is or if it's simply just blocked by your ISP.

As far as I know in the west the country with one of the strictest laws when it comes to Anime is Australia, Where it's now no longer legal to buy or sell physical copies of Hentai or any Anime dealing with underage depictions of sexuality.

Anyone saying lolicon is banned or is illegal in the US doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about.
